One day she posted about the Mint Conference coming up in D.C. so I checked it out and saw that the conference was still in its planning stages and accepting speaker applications. Even though legal wasn’t mentioned as one of the categories they were seeking, I figured, if it's a conference about how to start a photography business, then I'm sure they would like to know about the legal aspects of starting a business. Ep. 20 - Mid-Year Assessment - How to Get the Most Out of Your Yearly Goals
12/07/2017 Duration: 31minHey Guys! I'm finally getting around to sharing my mid-year assessment with you. So at the beginning of 2016, I came up with a plan to bring in more business to my law firm. I developed and implemented a plan to make connections with accountants and financial advisors - my top referral sources. If my plan was successful, I'd bring in 10-15K per month into my business. The plan worked . . . but it didn't really work because I forgot to think about the actual work that would come in if I was successful. So when I was setting my goals in 2017, I decided that I wouldn't only plan and implement, but I would also take time to absorb the impact of my goals, try it on so to speak and then adjust to them - either adjust what I was doing or adjust my goals. And it's made all the difference this year. Lastly, I talk about the one thing I DREAD in my business and how I've decided to fix it. Enjoy!

Ep. 11 - Top 5 Legal Questions from Small Business Owners
21/03/2017 Duration: 31minI'm really excited about this episode. As you see in the preview above, I had a bit of an epiphany. After participating in a legal clinic a couple of weeks ago, I realized that the "legal stuff" is very much still a mystery for a lot of new business owners. Starting a business is hard enough, the last thing you want is be bogged down with figuring out the correct way to form your entity, which entity to pick, what your next steps are, and if certain rules applies to you, etc. So, I'm here to take away some of that stress and to educate and empower women business owners about their legal rights and obligations when it comes to their business. When I started my law firm almost three years ago, my goal was to use my corporate background and expertise to remove the legal barriers minority business owners, especially women of color, face when starting a business. I started this podcast in order to create a platform that would expand my reach to to minority women business owners all over the country. In that vain,

Ep. 10 - Price Yourself to Get Paid!
14/03/2017 Duration: 47minI'm so excited about this post! This is a workbook I've been working on for the last month! It's a 12-page workbook that goes through a few exercises to help you come up with a sound and systematic pricing system that incorporates your value and the costs of running your business. I was inspired to create this workbook because when I first opened my law firm, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to pricing of my services. I found myself constantly reducing my price with every client because I had no way of explaining to my value to them. After gong to a practice management seminar for solo practitioners, the presenter briefly touched on budgeting and price. It was a light bulb moment and I came home, did the calculations and things have been smooth ever since. That is not to say I haven't been turned down when I give my price - that happens more times than I get a client. However, I'm not longer afraid to stick to my price. I'm no longer negotiate my price down. It just means I understand my value a
