  • EP 42 Negotiating as a Millennial EntrepreneurÂ

    16/11/2015 Duration: 12min

Focus on Value not on Price.  In business, negotiations focus on the value your company delivers to the other party. Do not get into a position of negotiating on price alone. The focus of each nego-tiation should center around the value the customer receives from your business. If your business is in a male dominated industry connect with a male mentor who knows the industry inside and out and is willing to guide you to negotiate successfully.  Subscribe to Jacqueline's email list to receive the Negotiation Strategies For Millennial Women Ebook for free.     If you're enjoying this podcast please leave a review. I’ll be selecting one reviewer each week to receive a free 20-minute career strategy session. • EP 41 How much do you make now?

    16/11/2015 Duration: 10min

You should expect the recruiter to be aggressive in asking for this number. One of the biggest rules of negotiation is, don’t get so attached to a deal that you can’t walk away. Don’t give away the minimum salary that you’ll accept in the initial phone screen. If you show desperation you are going to cave and the chances of you earning what you are worth will significantly decrease. Expect to go back and forth for a few rounds. Confidence is really important so don’t read these suggested scripts off a piece of paper. Practice your response us-ing vocabulary that you’re confident in for at least three rounds. Consider practic-ing with a man because men tend to have a different negotiation style than women.   Subscribe to Jacqueline's email list to receive the Negotiation Strategies For Millennial Women Ebook for free.     If you're enjoying this podcast please leave a review. I’ll be selecting one reviewer each week to receive a free 20-mi

  • EP 23 Mistakes Millennials Make When Negotiating #5 Not Asking

    17/09/2015 Duration: 17min

Most millennials are confident and prepared, but they get scared when it’s time to ask.   Here’s what you need to know. You have to know your contributions to the organization or know what you’ll be doing once you get to start in the position. Knowing your value is a large confidence booster in this process.    Know when to ask. Obviously you wouldn’t ask in a group team meeting or during your first interview. While the mere mention of those two situations may have you rolling your eyes, I used those situations to get you to understand that there are right and wrong times to ask for a raise or higher salary. So, when should you ask? If you starting a new position, you should negotiate when the offer is made. If you asking for a raise you should negotiate before the new fiscal year budget is set. Many of you may know that once the new fiscal year starts the budget has already been set so schedule time in advance that would allow for
