You have to know your contributions to the organization or know what you’ll be doing once you get to start in the position. Knowing your value is a large confidence booster in this process.    Know when to ask. Obviously you wouldn’t ask in a group team meeting or during your first interview. While the mere mention of those two situations may have you rolling your eyes, I used those situations to get you to understand that there are right and wrong times to ask for a raise or higher salary. So, when should you ask? If you starting a new position, you should negotiate when the offer is made. If you asking for a raise you should negotiate before the new fiscal year budget is set. Many of you may know that once the new fiscal year starts the budget has already been set so schedule time in advance that would allow for
