  • EP 04 You Took The Job To Get Your Foot In The Door, Now What?

    09/07/2015 Duration: 11min

I've recently spoken to a number of people who've accepted a position with a great organization to get their foot in the door, but they didn't have a strategy in place for their career beyond that. As a result of not having a strategy, they ended up frustrated and ready to quit. Quitting is not the solution and it emphasizes the importance of having a plan from day one. However, if you've already accepted the position and need to develop your foot in the door strategy read on. In this episode, I cover the common mistakes young professionals make and 5 elements of creating an effective foot in the door strategy.  Download the pdf guide for your foot in the door strategy here.  Have questions about this topic? • EP 03 Nail Your Performance Review

    07/07/2015 Duration: 13min

You don't have to dread your annual performance review. If you go into the meeting prepared to discuss your contributions to the organization it will decrease your anxiety. There are 3 fundamental steps you should take as you prepare to nail your performance review.      1.Make a list of your contributions Within the course of a year, you've worked on a number of projects. Each assignment that you have at work is tied to a larger goal for the company.   2.Packaging your performance   So how do you package your contributions, accomplishments, and lessons learned? Remember, you don't want to word vomit meaning just go into the meeting and spree off a rehearsed list.    3.What to say & do during the review   Once you're in the performance review it may be natural to have a few jitters. But, remember you've prepared for this moment and as long as you've been performing like a rock star you have no need to be nervous.    Download The Performance Review&nbs

  • EP 02 Dos & Donts of Negotiating

    29/06/2015 Duration: 08min

Has anyone ever felt like this.. As long as I work really really hard someone is going to recognize it and give me a promotion or raise?   I hate to break it to you because I used to think the same way and it doesn't happen.   If you don't ask for what you want and be able to article why your ask is beneficial to the organization that promotion or raise won't happen by magic. Dr. Holly Schroth, a Social Psychology professor at Berkley says it best "If you don't ask, you don't get it"    Watch a recap of my negotiation workshop at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8P5nm8mYb4
