Navigating The Career Jungle

Has anyone ever felt like this.. As long as I work really really hard someone is going to recognize it and give me a promotion or raise?   I hate to break it to you because I used to think the same way and it doesn't happen.   If you don't ask for what you want and be able to article why your ask is beneficial to the organization that promotion or raise won't happen by magic.
