In September of 1992, 19 year old Jennifer Asbenson lived in Palm Springs, and needed to get to work in the neighboring town of Desert Hot Springs. Jennifer didn’t have a car, and she had just missed the bus. At the time Jennifer was a certified nurse assistant, and she worked with disabled children as the night nurse. It was already dark when she had missed the bus, and she was running out of options. Gary Heidnik was one of the many serial killers that the 1991 psychological horror film Silence of the Lambs based serial killer Buffalo Bill off. Heidnik was the inspiration for the movie detail of Buffalo Bill keeping women in a pit in his basement. In the summer of 2007, Kelsey Smith was a beautiful and vibrant 18 year old. She had just graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School, and was going to attend Kansas State University in the fall, with plans to become a veterinarian. She had even been accepted to play clarinet for K State’s marching band. The evening of June 2, 2007, was like most other days. Around 7:00pm, Kelsey Smith did what most people do when they need to get something, she went to Target. She was looking for a gift for her boyfriend for their 6 month anniversary. She talked on the phone to her mom as she walked around looking at things, and when she found what she wanted she went to checkout, getting off the phone with her mom but telling her she would see her in a little bit. Kelsey was planning to meet her boyfriend John at her house at 7:30pm. But when Kelsey wasn’t home by then, John started calling and texting her.. but got no responses. Shauna Howe was an 11 year old girl from Oil City, PA. She was a shy blue-eyed brunette who was looking forward to spending the evening of October 27th with her girl scout troop dressed up in her gymnast costume. Oil City is located about an hour and a half north, northeast of Pittsburgh and had a population of just under 12,000 people in 1992. On the evening of October 27th, 1992 she was walking home from a girl scouts Halloween party with her best friend. Her friend offers to walk her the extra block home but Shauna decides to continue on her own. That would be the last time that anyone saw Shauna Howe alive. On September 26, 2010, calls about a brush fire in the Santa Margarita area are received by Cal Fire (a California state agency that functions as the County Fire Department under a contract with the County of San Luis Obispo). First responders rush to put out the blaze when out of nowhere a man comes running at them, covered in blood. He’s incoherent, his nose looks like its nearly missing and was hanging from his face and his jaw is clearly broken, but responders are able to make out one word that he keeps saying - “Dystiny”. The man eventually loses consciousness, and as he’s being prepped for the ambulance, the fire fighters make another discovery. In a small, seemingly hand dug hole, they discovered a what looked like a duffle bag. Inside the bag, they discovered the partially burned body of a teenage girl, Dystiny Myers. Thirty-year-old Tara Grinstead went missing on Saturday October 22nd, 2005. She vanished under suspicious circumstances, and we won’t learn what happened to Tara until 12 years after she disappeared. Catherine Wood was recently released from prison after serving 30 years for the murders of 5 elderly women suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. Today our case starts in Chino Hills, CA, which is located in San Bernardino County. Doug Ryen, his wife Peggy, both 41, and their children Jessica (10) and Joshua (8), lived in a lovely ranch home located at 2951 English Rd. Both Peggy and Doug were chiropractors, and they also raised Arabian horses, living a comfortable upper middle-class life.On the evening of Saturday, June 4th, 1983, after returning home from a BBQ with friends, the Ryen family was getting ready for bed. Josh had his friend Christopher Hughes (11), who was also the Ryen’s neighbor, over for a sleepover.The next morning, Christopher’s father, Bill Hughes went over to the Ryens' to pick his son up around noon. When no one answered the front door, he peered through a sliding glass door into the master bedroom, where he spotted the bloodied body of his 11-year-old son. On December 28, 2017 19 year old Casey Viner was playing video games in his home located in the suburbs of Cincinnati, Ohio. Viner was playing a multiplayer session of “Call of Duty WWII” when he got into an argument with a fellow gamer in Wichita, Kansas. During the argument Viner threatened to “Swat”  the teammate - to which the teammate responded by providing an address and saying, “Please try some shit,” according to an affidavit.

After moving to Salt Lake City, Utah with her son Daniel, Savannah Fuchs decided to start apartment hunting closer to her work in North Ogden. Rather serendipitously, as she drove around looking at neighborhoods, she sees a lovely duplex townhome with a sign in the front yard reading “For Rent.” She called the number listed and was told that the previous young woman had just quickly and unexpectedly moved out, leaving the landlady scrambling to find a tenant. The landlady went on to say that the woman who had moved out was a single mother. Thinking this was was meant to be, Savannah took the townhome, moving in that same week. As Savannah was moving in, she met her neighbor, who occupied the adjoining townhome to hers, an older gentleman in his mid-fifties by the name of Todd Barber...

On November 1, 1955, United Flight 629 originated in New York, taking off from La Guardia Airport. The plane made a scheduled stop in Chicago before continuing to Denver's Stapleton Airfield, landing at 6:11 p.m., 11 minutes late. At Denver the aircraft was refueled and had a crew replacement. The flight took off at 6:52 p.m. and at 6:56 p.m. made its last transmission stating it was passing the Denver omni. Seven minutes later, the Stapleton air traffic controllers saw two bright lights suddenly appear in the sky north-northwest of the airport. Both lights were observed for 30–45 seconds, and both fell to the ground at roughly the same speed. Upon observing the mysterious lights, the controllers quickly determined there were no aircraft in distress and contacted all aircraft flying in the area; all flights were quickly accounted for except for United Flight 629...

On October 31, 1979 the body of an unidentified white female was discovered in a culvert along interstate 35 in Williamson County, TX. Her body was nude except for a pair of orange socks. Investigators believe that her body was dragged out of a vehicle and thrown over the guardrail into the culvert based on evidence of drag marks along the side of the road.

9 hikers in the northern Ural Mountains, located in the former Soviet Union, died mysteriously between the 1st and 2nd of February, 1959. The experienced group were all from the Ural Polytechnic Institute, they had established a camp on the slope of Kholat Syakhl, in an area that is now named after the groups leader, Igor Dyatlov. In the night something caused them to tear their way out of their tents and flee the campsite, all while dressed in minimal clothing for the heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures. After the groups bodies were discovered, on investigation into their deaths took place, Soviet authorities determined that 6 had died from hypothermia while the other 3 showed signs of physical trauma. One victim had a fractured skull and the two others had major chest fractures. Additionally, a body of another team member was missing their tongue and eyes. The investigation concluded that an “unknown compelling force” had caused the deaths.
