Sisters In Crime

In the summer of 2007, Kelsey Smith was a beautiful and vibrant 18 year old. She had just graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School, and was going to attend Kansas State University in the fall, with plans to become a veterinarian. She had even been accepted to play clarinet for K State’s marching band. The evening of June 2, 2007, was like most other days. Around 7:00pm, Kelsey Smith did what most people do when they need to get something, she went to Target. She was looking for a gift for her boyfriend for their 6 month anniversary. She talked on the phone to her mom as she walked around looking at things, and when she found what she wanted she went to checkout, getting off the phone with her mom but telling her she would see her in a little bit. Kelsey was planning to meet her boyfriend John at her house at 7:30pm. But when Kelsey wasn’t home by then, John started calling and texting her.. but got no responses.
