Sounds Heal Podcast with Ross Barrable and Natalie Brown
03/08/2022 Duration: 58minCrystanium Gongs founder, Ross Barrable, has been building sound sculptures for more than 40 years. His journey into building sound sculptures and instruments began with his discovering the melody his folk harp produced as the wind strummed the strings when he was playing outdoors. This inspired him to learn how to listen to sound and harmonics. He has evolved his sonic art form to develop innovative Contemporary Wind Harps, fabricated out of titanium, which adorn over 350 public and private landscape settings throughout North America and Europe. Working with titanium to build wind harps was ultimately how Ross was introduced to the gong community. When Ross set out to build titanium gongs, it was clear to him that this metal has a totally different vibration and a real resonant affinity with the human body that you won’t find elsewhere. He’s not interested in duplicating anything that’s out there in the gong world; rather, he’s creating something new, something that, from his point of view, resonates with th

Sounds Heal Podcast with Michael Reiley and Natalie Brown
14/06/2022 Duration: 47min“As far back as I can remember, music has been a vital part of my life. I always followed my own path, building a career as an independent musician and composer. Over the years, as my meditation practice deepened, I began to see how my musical and contemplative selves were intertwined. Once I discovered the power of Deep Listening® (with Pauline Oliveros) and followed in the footsteps of my teachers, meditation and music converged for me. They now coexist within my work, providing me with endless opportunities to explore and tap into my creativity. Today, my work as a musician, composer, and teacher centers on how listening helps us heal, focus, and connect with ourselves and one another. Having dedicated my life to the art of listening, I create ambient soundscapes that incorporate frequencies, field recordings, and music for various levels of consciousness, from active listening to deep sleep.” ~ Michael Reiley. http://soundoflistening.com/ Natalie Brown: http://www.soundshealstudio.com http://www.facebo

Sounds Heal Podcast with Grotta Sonora and Natalie Brown
01/03/2022 Duration: 01h30minFounded by Madhava Carrara and Margherita Cioffi, Grotta Sonora (“Sonorous Cave"), designs and constructs hand-crafted experimental musical instruments, drawing on their personal experimentation with sound, using different types of metals. Madhava is a musician, percussionist and artisan who was brought up in an environment strongly influenced by Indian culture. He has been experimenting for years with the craft of making stringed, wind and percussion musical instruments, using a wide range of materials, including recycled waste materials. Their first instruments were crafted in an Etruscan cave (“grotta”) close to Calcata Vecchia, a medieval village in the Treja Valley, north of Rome. The cave turned out to be the perfect place to play these newly crafted instruments, thus kicking off the Grotta Sonora project.
