Box Office Poison: Episode 27
04/03/2012 Duration: 45minHello and welcome to a brand new episode of Box Office Poison, the podcast all about movies and movie things! This time, Jonny and Mike had to step out to take care of some business (skiing and boyfriend duties, respectively), so it's just Jon, Stan and myself on this episode. And since we hadn't seen anything of particular note in this deadzone of movie releases, we went ahead and skipped straight to Trailer Trash. But what a Trailer Trash it was! We discussed The Amazing Spider-Man, The Bourne Legacy, The Three Stooges (unfortunately) and wrapped things up with The Hunger Games. What did you think of these trailers? Let us know via email (crosstawk@gmail.com, Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. And when you're done there, head on over to iTunes and leave us a review. See you guys later in the week for a brand new Frozen North Dinnercast, Discover Music Project and the long-overdue return of Rough Draught!

Crosstawk Comics: Episode 15
28/02/2012 Duration: 47minPublishing on time in 2012, it's a new episode of Crosstawk Comics! One of our favorite titles out of the New 52 from DC has been Anima Man by Jeff Lemire and Travel Foreman, so Gus and I decided to talk about the most critically acclaimed run on the character ever - Grant Morrison's 27-issue streak from 1988 through 1990. Notable for its spirited stance on environmentalism, animal rights, existentialism and even the nature of fiction, it's arguably one of Morrison's most treasured works. Did Gus and I think it held up, though? You'll have to listen in to find out! When you get a chance, please head on over to iTunes and leave us a rating and a review. Crosstawk only grows through word of mouth, and the best way for new listeners to find the show is through a positive review on iTunes. Every single one counts, so rest assured that we appreciate it. Thanks for listening, guys! We'll be back later this week with a fresh episode of Box Office Poison!

24/02/2012 Duration: 01h36minIt's finally time to fulfill one of the longest-standing DMP requests, and this one is for The Beach Boys. The Frozen North Dinnercast: Episode 4
22/02/2012 Duration: 52minFND is back, and it's a big of a special episode this time. Instead of the usual informal discussion, Zach decided to take a page out of NWR Connectivity's book and dedicated a full episode to general knowledge trivia. Do you know more than our favorite bunch of Alaskans? (Note: You may!) In any case, when you're through listening, what you really ought to do is go on over to iTunes and show your appreciation by leaving a review. This is the best way to get the word out about Crosstawk and general, and I know I speak for all of the people who contribute to this little corner of the internet when I say that we'd all be in your debt. So please do so. Please. Jon Rind is inconsolable. Mike Sklens can't sleep at night. Jonny can't even bring himself to listen to Phish. Only you can prevent forest fires (and our depression). That aside, we'll see you this Friday for a new Discover Music Project!

Box Office Poison: Episode 26
18/02/2012 Duration: 01h23minAhoy there! It's time for yet another episode of the podcast that's all about movies and movie things, Box Office Poison! This week, Jon unfortunately couldn't make it to the show, but we've got plenty else to discuss, from Chronicle to Take Shelter to even Rocky III and some odd documentary called Beer Tickers. Then, in the second segment, we discuss our Movie of the Month, Paper Moon. Did we all enjoy this black-and-white take on Depression-era underage grifting? You'll have to listen in to find out. And for those of you who like to play along, our March Movie of the Month is going to be Woody Allen's second-highest grossing film of all time, Hannah and Her Sisters. As per usual folks, you can contact us via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the website. And when you're done there, I'd surely appreciate you heading on over to iTunes and leaving us a kind review. It's the best way for us to grow our audience, and it's the best way for you to support the podcast.

Discover Music Project: Episode 37
10/02/2012 Duration: 01h42minJon Rind is back in the land of DMP to deliver a whopping dose of hip-hop to the podcast. We're listening to A Tribe Called Quest, the massively influential but still underground 90s crew out of New York City. Jonny and Jon march through the group's classic albums, exploring the music within the greater context of hip-hop, jazz, and more. It's okay if you don't usually like rap music, because you've probably never heard rapping quite like this, much less combined with such smooth, lush music packed with familiar samples and clever lyrics. Here's the set list: 1. Can I Kick It? (People's Instinctive Travels) 2. Bonita Applebaum (People's Instinctive Travels) 3. Excursions (The Low End Theory) 4. Jazz (The Low End Theory) 5. Scenario (The Low End Theory) 6. Butter (The Low End Theory) 7. Award Tour (Midnight Marauders) 8. The Chase, Pt. 2 (Midnight Marauders) 9. Electric Relaxation (Midnight Marauders) 10. Lyrics to Go (Midnight Marauders) 11. 1nce Again (Beats, Rhymes, and Life) Encore: De La Soul - "Buddy"

Box Office Poison: Episode 25
04/02/2012 Duration: 02h20minHey, folks, this episode of BOP is a little different. Rather than our usual format, we decided to skip What We've Been Watching and jumped straight into Trailer Trash, discussing Moonrise Kingdom, Lockout, Casa de mi Padre and Jeff Who Lives at Home. Then, in the second segment, we covered our Top 5 Favorite Movies of 2011. It's a pretty length segment, and in all, this episode clocks in at nearly two and a half hours. So enjoy! We'll be back in two weeks to discuss Stan's Movie of the Month for February, Paper Moon. It's on Netflix Instant, so be sure to play along! Crosstawk Comics: Episode 14
31/01/2012 Duration: 01h01minShipping on time in 2012, it's Crosstawk Comics! This time, the show's gonna be a little different. Seeing as how Gus and I are discussing alternate realities in comics, we figured we'd switch it up - he's hosting, while I'm the lowly co-pundit. So enjoy the change in dynamic - surely I will never allow it again. In all seriousness, it's an awesome episode, and you can let us know what you thought of it via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. Come back later in the week for a brand new episode of Box Office Poison!

Discover Music Project: Episode 36
27/01/2012 Duration: 01h27minOur gracious host Karl Castaneda returns to DMP to showcase one of his all-time favorite bands, The Velvet Underground. This is easily one of the most influential rock bands of all time, thanks to Lou Reed's odd songwriting choices and the band's eclectic brand of psychadelia. You can hear elements of Velvet Underground music in artists as diverse as The Ramones, Neil Young, Phish, and Wilco. (Hey, we've also done episodes on all those guys!) Karl is a big fan, and you might be too after hearing these songs: 1. I'm Waiting for the Man (The Velvet Underground & Nico) 2. Venus in Furs (The Velvet Underground & Nico) 3. Heroin (The Velvet Underground & Nico) 4. Lady Godiva's Operation (White Light / White Heat) 5. Here She Comes Now (White Light / White Heat) 6. Pale Blue Eyes (The Velvet Underground) 7. After Hours (The Velvet Underground) 8. Rock & Roll [Alternate Mix] (Fully Loaded) 9. Sweet Jane (Loaded) 10. Oh! Sweet Nuthin' (Loaded) Encore: Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed (Transformer) B

Frozen North Dinnercast: Episode 2
24/01/2012 Duration: 52minBecause you demanded it! The Frozen North Dinnercast's pilot on Crosstawk Presents had an amazing reception, and as such, it's been graduated to regular series! From here on out, every other Tuesday, you'll be treated to cold-weather dining. This week, the crew's talking to you from an actual diner. Babies crying, silverware clanging back and forth and the hustle and bustle of a crowded restaurant can all be heard. But above all else, the jibber-jabber of our favorite Alaskans prevails. Want to comment on something you heard on FND? Let us know via Twitter (@crosstawk), via email (crosstawk@gmail.com) or in the comments section on the site. Thanks for listening, folks!

Discover Music Project: Episode 34
30/12/2011 Duration: 01h39minJonny and Amanda team up once more to celebrate the gloriously absurd music of Weird Al Yankovic. This show is a listener request, and Rob made the wonderful suggestion of focusing on Weird Al's original songs (i.e. not direct parodies). His selections are some of the funniest, most timeless pieces ever produced by Yankovic. As a happy coincidence, this music also turns out to be a lovely companion to Amanda's choice from a few episodes ago, Ween. Both artists explore a huge breadth of musical styles to present funny, intelligent material. Here's the set list: 1. Dare to Be Stupid (Dare to Be Stupid) 2. One More Minute (Dare to Be Stupid) 3. You Don't Love Me (Off the Deep End) 4. Trigger Happy (Off the Deep End) 5. Pancreas (Straight Outta Lynwood) 6. Everything You Know is Wrong (Bad Hair Day) 7. Discover Music Project: Episode 33
