  • Conversation Street Episode 95

    10/05/2014 Duration: 01h57min

On this week's podcast, we discuss the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th May in the UK. Shorts and T-shirt on everybody - it's time for the Weatherfield Fun Run! Unfortunately it doesn't turn out to be quite so fun for Lloyd, as he has a heart attack after passing the finishing line! He's not the only one with troubles of the heart either, although Peter and Dennis' are of a more romantic nature. Meanwhile, Anna braces herself for her own heart-to-heart with Owen... In the news section this week, we look forward to Julie Hesmondhalgh's first post-Corrie role, whilst we learn even more about Northen accents thanks to some helpful feedback. Speaking of feedback, this week we have rather a special email to read out, linked to our character profile focusing on fellow heart-attack sufferer, Derek Wilton.

  • Conversation Street Episode 94

    03/05/2014 Duration: 02h22s

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 28th April and the 2nd May. There's trouble afoot as Steve and Lloyd prepare for Monday's fun run, but Steve gets more than he's bargained for when Kal dishes out his frustrations during a clandestine gym session. Maddie also has a secret on Friday, which she doesn't manage to hide for long, whereas Sinead just wishes she could keep herself under wraps. We talk BSA nominations in the Kabin, then discuss the finer points of the Lancashire accent in the feedback section. Our character profile this week is Steve McDonald.

  • Conversation Street Episode 93

    27/04/2014 Duration: 01h44min

On the latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 21st and the 25th April. Love is in the air this week, and we get to see not one, but two proposals on the Street. However, whilst we're all for the pairing of the nefarious Tracy and Rob, we won't be buying any confetti just yet for a commitment ceremony between Nick and Leanne. Meanwhile, Maria's plan to win the affections of Tyrone spirals out of control... In the Kabin section of the show, we chat about Sarah Lancashire's recent comments about the prejudices that soap actors face, before finishing off with a bit of feedback. Our classic character profile this week was inspired by Rob and Tracy's latest acquisition at the shop: Mrs Death-By-Hairdryer herself, Valerie Barlow.

  • Conversation Street Episode 92

    19/04/2014 Duration: 01h48min

On the latest edition of the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 14th and 18th April. It's Easter weekend, and we've realised that we didn't even mention it once on the show, so here are some terrible puns instead: Peter's left with egg on his face this week, as Carla discovers he's fallen off the wagon. As Tyrone and Fiz worry about bad egg Kirsty's release from prison, Maria's becoming egg-tremely paranoid. Meanwhile, despite losing the £40K he shelled out on the Mill, Owen's relieved to have eggs-ited his contract with Phelan. But we reckon he hasn't seen the last of him yet, as sure as eggs is eggs...  In the news section, we discuss the unearthing of a rare piece of Corrie footage from over forty years ago, and we answer your questions about the Corrie tour in the feedback section. This week, we're also pleased to be joined by Coronation Street Blog editor Glenda Young for an interview, who speaks to us about her new book: A Perfect Duet.

  • Conversation Street Episode 91

    12/04/2014 Duration: 01h21min

On this week's second edition of the podcast, we're back with a regular show, discussing the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 7th and 11th April. We weren't only the only ones walking the streets of Manchester this week - Maddie and Sophie have moved out of number 4 and now they're living rough, but can Sophie really hack it? Over at the Mill, both Owen and Gary are beginning to crack, but it's Anna who is forced to take the most desperate measures in an attempt to put a stop to the evil Phelan. Meanwhile, Andrea's showing herself to be even more of a maneater, but it's a manbeater that Tyrone's more worried about, as he receives some very unsettling news... There's no character profile this week, but in The Kabin, Michael shares his thoughts on the soon to be released 'A Perfect Duet' by Glenda Young, and fashion critic Gemma casts her eye over Debbie Rush's celebrity wedding guests. Next week, we'll be answering your questions about Coronation Street The Tour, so if there's anyt

  • Conversation Street Episode 90

    10/04/2014 Duration: 01h15min

On Episode 90 of the podcast, we take a trip up to Manchester to go on Coronation Street The Tour. During our visit, we recorded an audio diary of our experiences for you to enjoy, from our hunt for various filming locations, through our slap up meal at Annies (the restaurant owned by Jennie McAlpine), to the tour of the old set itself. The episode features interviews with Corrie expert and co-owner of Daisy Nook Garden Centre Mark Llewellin, the charming and knowledgeable driver from Manchester Taxi Tours John Consterdine, and the lovely Rachel, a tour guide from the Coronation Street set tour. What are the security measures put in place outside the filming location for Phelan's mansion? Which Corrie character was nearly impregnated by a Hungarian violin player? And just how fragrantly scented is Jennie McAlpine in real life?  Find out the answers to these questions and more on Episode 90 of Conversation Street!

  • Conversation Street Episode 89

    05/04/2014 Duration: 01h55min

On our latest show, we chat about the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 28th March and the 4th April. There's a possibility of two new baby arrivals on the Street this week, plus the departure of beige bombshell Stella, who's decided to swap Betty's hotpot for a bite of the Big Apple. Meanwhile, V Court Fitness opens its doors to give the residents of the Street a good workout, but Owen and Peter are working up sweats of a different kind... In the Kabin, we discover that another cast member has got themselves in hot water - and it's the last person you'd ever expect! - while in the feedback section, we talk more about whether Carla would make a good mother. Our character profile this week is Stella.

  • Conversation Street Episode 88

    28/03/2014 Duration: 01h28min

On this week's early edition of the podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 24th and 26th March. The Weatherfield crime wave strikes the Platt residence on Monday, as a shady-looking individual is disturbed in the middle of a break-in. Meanwhile, Gary and Owen get up to a little thievery of their own, but can they pull the wool over Phelan's eyes? Of course, the real crime this week is that the Peter and Tina storyline shows no signs of coming to an end... Tales of naughty antics continue into the Kabin segment of the show, where we hear about some urban explorers who've broken into the old set. The character profile is of loveable petty criminal turned binman, Eddie Yeats.

  • Conversation Street Episode 87

    22/03/2014 Duration: 01h38min

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 17th and the 21st March. Todd's plot to get Marcus for himself finally comes to fruition, as he manages to arrange for Maria to find them in a compromising position. They're not the only ones caught with their pants down this week, though, as David is left red-faced during an attempt to get up to some hanky-panky with Kylie in the salon! Meanwhile, Fiz is starting to worry about Roy, but can she coax him away from his trains before he goes off the rails? With Kevin back in town, we ask listeners whether Tim should be worried, and our character profile is the woman whose affections they're both vying for: Weatherfield super-snob Sally Webster.

  • Conversation Street Episode 86

    15/03/2014 Duration: 01h17min

On the 86th edition of Conversation Street, we chat about the Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th March in the UK. There's a smug glow in the air of Weatherfield this week, as a number of residents go all charitable. As Fiz and Julie ponder the practicalities of a skydive in ballgowns to raise money in Hayley's name, Sally agrees to provide a bed for - as she puts it - a local vagrant, but will Maddie be able to tempt Sophie to join her in it? Meanwhile, Gary and Owen continue their 'volunteer' work at the Mill - but just how far will Phelan push them? In the Kabin section of the show, we have all the details for the soon to be opening Coronation Street tour, and hear about some of the latest problems hitting the show's producers - both on and off set. Instead of a character profile, we are pleased to be joined by the DownEastStreeters' Mark Grant, who chats to us about the upcoming Evening With Jimmi Harkishin event in Nova Scotia.

  • Conversation Street Episode 85

    08/03/2014 Duration: 01h28min

On the latest Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 3rd and 7th March. It's the start of Lent this week, but we think that some of the Corrie characters have the wrong idea. Take Peter: rather than giving up on something he enjoys, he's now happily bedding Carla *and* Tina at every opportunity. As for Sophie, although she'd resolved to give up on Maddie, by the end of the week, romance was definitely in the air. Meanwhile, Phelan's marking Easter early, trying his hand at his very own resurrection routine. In the Kabin segment, we share our thoughts on Thursday's excellent Moving Story documentary, and hear about an upcoming Corrie fan event in Canada. Our character profile this week is on Bill Webster.

  • Conversation Street Episode 84

    01/03/2014 Duration: 01h14min

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 24th and 28th February. There's bad news for Jason this week, as he loses out on his chance to do the construction at Dev's new gym. He's not the only one fretting about being out of work, but at least he didn't clock Kal's dad around the head with a plank of wood - that's what you're supposed to do when you don't get on with your boss, right Gary? Meanwhile, Eileen is outraged when she finds out what Todd and Marcus have been getting up to, and she's not the only one, as we find out in the news segment of the show. Our character profile this week is Gloria Price.

  • Conversation Street Episode 83

    22/02/2014 Duration: 01h26min

On this week's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast between the 17th and 21st February in the UK. Just what is going on with the men of Weatherfield at the moment? We've got Dennis telling Rita he loves her one minute, then driving off into the night with his floozy the next; Marcus is ripping the clothes off of someone who's clearly a moustache twirl away from being the next Corrie villain; and rather than spending a week in the city of love with his new wife, we have Peter jumping into bed with someone young enough to be his daughter! And we thought that Darryl was the only rat on the Street... In the Kabin, we learn about a new Corrie book that's due to be published this year, then in the feedback section, we find out which unpopular characters our listeners have a soft spot for. Our character profile for the week Weatherfield's very own crazy cat lady, Minnie Caldwell.

  • Conversation Street Episode 82

    16/02/2014 Duration: 01h29min

On the latest Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th February. This week, there's a break up for Rita and Dennis, a possible breakdown for Roy, Peter gets a lucky break on Valentine's Day, and Emily? She's just breaking bad. Meanwhile, as Anna and Owen break bread with the Phelans, will she break her silence and admit what the creepy Pat's been up to? Over in the Kabin, we share our thoughts on the latest Streetcar Stories, and we discover which Corrie villain our listeners are most like in the feedback section. Our character profile is on the Weatherfield Nightingale herself - it's Rita Tanner.

  • Conversation Street Episode 81

    08/02/2014 Duration: 01h23min

This week on the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 3rd and the 7th February.  It looks like nobody can stay faithful at the moment on the cobbles - Tina's back in town, which dredges up her secret kiss with Rob; Steve seems to be dreaming of a life with Andrea; Dennis clearly has the hots for Gloria; and never mind trouble at t'mill - it looks like there's going to be trouble even closer to home as the creepy Pat looks to be becoming a bit of a Phelan-derer...  In the Kabin, we chat about William Roache's acquittal, the new Steve and Lloyd spinoff, plus something special for Ciaran McCarthy fans! With Lloyd and Andrea becoming an item in this week's episodes, we thought that for the character profile we'd take a look at one of his previous girlfriends - it's the one with the legs: Kelly Crabtree!

  • Conversation Street Episode 80

    01/02/2014 Duration: 01h30min

This week on the podcast, we take a look at the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 27th and 31st January. The big storyline of this week is, of course, Hayley's funeral. Can Roy keep a lid on Hayley's final secret, or will he end up spilling the beans? We also discover that there's more to Maddie than meets the eye, and even discover a surprising maternal side to Tracy. Also in this week's Street Talk, the shocking truth about Michelle's permanently folded arms revealed! We discuss the potential of a new Canadian soap in the news section, and ponder who we would like to see squeezing into a leotard at Kal and Dev's new gym. Speaking of the Devster, he's also the focus of our character profile.

  • Conversation Street Episode 79

    25/01/2014 Duration: 01h44min

On the latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 20th and the 24th January in the UK. This week, time finally runs out for Hayley, as she says her final goodbyes and takes her own life. We knew it was coming, but what did we make of Hayley's final few scenes? Meanwhile, as one life ends, a new one begins, as Chesney invites Sinead to move in with him. However, by the end of the week, he's got more company than he was bargaining for! There's a lot of news to discuss this week, including Corrie's latest triumph at the National TV Awards, then with Hayley's suicide fresh on our minds, we take a look at Katy Harris in the profile section - a character who took her own life in a rather unconventional way nine years ago...

  • Conversation Street Episode 78

    19/01/2014 Duration: 01h53min

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 13th and the 17th January. It's Todd's party this week, and although his gifts of Prosecco and £100 shirts are very well and good, what he really wants for his birthday is to come between Maria and Marcus. Showing more success on the romance front, meanwhile, is Dev, who manages to convince Stella to go out with him to the Weatherfield Traders' Association Ball. Meanwhile, everybody's favourite Corrie couple, Roy and Hayley, prepare for the end - though not before getting themselves into a bit of a sticky situation involving 500 punnets of strawberries... In The Kabin, we discover something unexpected that we have in common with Michelle Keegan, and in the bumper character profile section, we celebrate the life of Corrie's very own lady in red, the wonderful Hayley Cropper.

    12/01/2014 Duration: 01h33min

In this week's fruity episodes, Roy's on a mission to find Hayley the perfect strawberry, while Steve's worrying about Michelle's plans for his plums. Bad apple Tony is back and sniffing around Liz, and David and Kylie are being driven bananas living with Gail. We celebrate the start of filming on the new set in the Kabin, whilst the feedback section sees us talking about when listeners last missed an episode of Corrie. In tribute to the recently closed Lass O'Gowrie pub, the character profile this week is of their poster girl, Ena Sharples.
