Synopsis

An unofficial podcast for the long-running British soap, Coronation Street.

Episodes

  • Conversation Street Episode 653

    09/11/2024 Duration: 03h10min

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 4th and the 8th November 2024 (Episodes #11,405 - 11,410). Things are certainly hotting up in the murder mystery story this week, and our prime candidate for whodunnit Kit has finally joined the official list of suspects. There's an awful lot of evidence pointing towards him for sure, but could Corrie be planning one last twist in the tale? Also this week, we had Paul's space launch on Wednesday. And if you think that sounds weird, by the end of the week we had characters talking about ghostly apparitions and Paul's essence being in an alternative dimension. All part of that gritty, down to earth drama that Corrie's famous for, eh? (We jest -  we did pretty much like it on the whole!) Also this week, Tim discovers Mason's been hiding out in the shed and soon becomes his surrogate Stu as he sees the good in the once zombie knife bearing scallywag. As well as that, there's more stoma drama for Bethany, a visiting order

  • Three Days In Weatherfield

    05/11/2024 Duration: 46min

Recently, we headed up to Manchester for a few days to see a performance of KIN, the fantastic two-woman play penned by Corrie's Christine Mackie (Dr Gaddas). While we were there, we also headed over to the Coronation Street Experience to check out some changes to the gift shop, chatted with some of the cast members outside the studio gates, and tracked down a few more filming locations, including the spot where Peter's iconic AA meeting was shot and the place where Joel's cars were recently found after his disappearance! In this video, we chat about all that and much more! Also available as a video, with loads of photos and footage from our trip here: https://youtu.be/D0_v5XhmPjA

  • Conversation Street Episode 652

    02/11/2024 Duration: 02h21min

We're up in Manchester for a few days at the moment with a bit of a busy schedule, so this week's podcast is a Street Talk only affair, covering the episode of Corrie shown in the UK between the 28th October and the 1st November (Episodes #11,399 - 11,404) The flashbacks return in this week's episodes of Corrie, giving us a few more hints as to what happened the night of Joel's death. Since the start, we've been pretty convinced it was Kit who did him in (or maybe Gus at a long shot) but is the whodunit still working to keep us interested? Also this week, the Dev's Devving it up to the max at the quads' birthday party, leading to a surprise popping the question that goes down like a lead balloon - can he and Bernie recover? Meanwhile, Cassie and Steve spend the night together, the news of Gail's engagement starts to spread and Mason pulls Liam from in front of a speeding car - are we seeing a redemption story here, and is he the kind of character we really want to see being redeemed?

  • Cobblestone Chillers

    29/10/2024 Duration: 25min

Our Halloween homage to some of literature's spookiest stories and poems with a Weatherfield twist: we present to you our Cobblestone Chillers! Turn off the light and huddle under covers as you enjoy our Corrie adaptations of tales including Jabberwocky, The Telltale Heart and H.P. Lovecraft's haunting work, The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

  • Conversation Street Episode 651

    26/10/2024 Duration: 03h06min

Greetings from the future! This weekend's podcast covers the episodes of Corrie airing between the 21st and the 27th October (Episodes #11,393 - 11,398), so if you've not watched the early upload of Sunday's episode on ITVX yet, you might want to hold fire on listening to this straight away as there are spoilers aplenty! It was a proper Platt-centric set of episodes on this week's Corrie, and even Gail was back on Wednesday after being conspicuously absent from her own story for the past fortnight. Not that she wasn't having a rough time of it though - in fact, she was barely back five minutes before she was being carted off to casualty with a heart attack! Elsewhere on the Street, both Kit and Gus are keeping a close eye on Dee-Dee - but are they just hoping she'll lead them towards clues about Joel's killer, or have they got something to hide themselves? Meanwhile, Cassie's presence at No. 1 continues to irk Steve, Nick struggles to resist his feelings for Toyah, and there are critters in the pittas at Spee

  • Corrie's Summer Of Comedy 2005

    23/10/2024 Duration: 01h20min

The Summer of 2005 is remembered by many Corrie fans for all the wrong reasons. Hot on the heels of dark, dramatic storylines such as Killer Katy and Mad Maya, the June to August period saw the show taking a much less headline-grabbing change of pace. While Charlie’s abuse of Shelley continued to simmer in the background, most of the other stories taking up screen time were there primarily to make us laugh. From Scooter and Sarah's koi carp caper to the boxing ring clash between Ashley and a rival butcher, not every story was a hit, but does the period deserve the derision it so often receives? Having just watched the episodes on ITV3 recently, Michael's here to share his thoughts!

  • Conversation Street Episode 650

    19/10/2024 Duration: 03h51min

Today's podcast covers what went on in Corrie between the 14th and the 18th October 2024 (Episodes #11,387 - 11,391) It's another extra-long show this week, but not because of another lengthy Michael rant about the scheduling - nope, this time it's because we've got a murder mystery on our hands (and unlike the Lauren one back in the Spring, this time somebody's actually been murdered!). Yep, Joel turned up dead in a sack on Monday's visit to Weatherfield, and there are plenty of characters with the motive and the opportunity to have done him in. Did Mason do it as payback for Joel's treatment of Betsy? Did God-fearing Dee-Dee go Old Testament on his arse? Or maybe it's just what at this point seems to be the most obvious suspect, DC Kit Green. There are still plenty of clues still to be revealed in flashbacks, but we try to piece together all the evidence so far. Joel's not the only character we had to wave bye-bye to this week either, as Stu hangs up his whites and heads of for a new life in Germany - and n

  • Beth Sutherland Character Profile Revisit

    17/10/2024 Duration: 01h39min

Back when we first profiled Beth in Episode #122 of the podcast, she'd only been a regular on the cobbles a few years. Fast forward a decade and the stylish stitcher has sewn her last gusset at Underworld, moving onto pastures new in Norfolk. This week, we take a look back at what she's been up to in the last ten years, reliving our favourite Beth moments and pondering whether she lived up to the expectations we had of her back in her first profile!

  • Conversation Street Episode 649

    12/10/2024 Duration: 03h51min

On our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 7th and the 11th October 2024 (Episodes #11,381 - 11,386). After kicking off the show with some impressions of The Street of Lies, Corrie's brand new choose your own adventure book set in 1983, we delve into the week's episodes, and the minefield that is the return of Jesse Chadwick combined with the official start of Swarla relationship. We've all seen the romance between this pair coming a mile off, and although there's still a good deal of denial going on from both characters after the electric scenes on Monday, they now seem to be a lock-in for Corrie's next big couple... and we've got a lot to say about it! Same with Jesse's return, as the forgotten cowboy (no, he wasn't a clown) mosies back into Weatherfield with his heart set on Gail. Yes, we know a lot of viewers would have preferred Martin or, well, pretty much anyone other than who we got, but we're giving Corrie a bit of a break here, and actually

  • Corrieliminator: Round 6

    10/10/2024 Duration: 01h18min

We're into the second half of the Corrielimination now, and this month's random selection of characters includes another quite tricky bunch to sort! We've got serial killers going head to head, a battle of the beards, and... some admittedly pretty poor characters who fought it out in the race to the bottom! A video version of the episode can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/aLcZr7j-3gU Don't forget, you can also have your say in this month's selection by voting for your Top 3 characters in the listener poll over at https://forms.gle/ZUhmEuHnVkFmSZGJA

  • Conversation Street Episode 648

    05/10/2024 Duration: 03h15min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 30th September and the 4th October (Episodes #11,375 - 11,380). Overall, we thought this was a pretty damn good week of Coronation Street! Going into it, we knew that there'd be the funeral and the rave, of course, and there'd likely be more argy-bargy between Billy and Bernie; plus, there was that mysterious voice message left by Joel last week that would have to be followed up on. What we weren't expecting was a surprise pregnancy for Fiz, a surprise reappearance for Denny and Gail (not together, we hasten to add!), or that we'd get some beautiful location shots to set the scene for Dee-Dee, Lisa and Kit's investigation that would lead up champing at the bit to find out what on earth has befallen Weatherfield's slipperiest solicitor... It certainly wasn't perfect (we don't know what irritates us more - Kirk being a donut or those awful CGI firework), but all in all, we had a great time discussing what went on in Weatherf

  • Peter Ash Interview

    02/10/2024 Duration: 42min

After succumbing to MND earlier this month, Paul Foreman may no longer be with us, but Peter Ash is alive and kicking - and here on the podcast to chat about his six years playing Paul Foreman! We chat about what it was like to work with the MND Association to bring Paul's journey with the condition to screen, the importance of keeping an element of humour to the story, and reminisce over some of his earlier moments on the cobbles too. Also available as a video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/HNFMC0YrUtM

  • Conversation Street Episode 647

    28/09/2024 Duration: 02h48min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 23rd and the 27th September 2024 (Episodes #11,369 - 11,374). It feels like so long since Corrie has done any filming abroad... and that trend continues this week despite the numerous scenes set in a Turkish hospital. And the reason for this little faux jaunt? Why, to raise more issues of course! Well we certainly won't be heading to southeastern Europe for liposuction any time soon, we can tell you that. To be fair, and despite predicting the contrary when we first heard about this story, we actually quite enjoyed Bethany's scenes this week, which felt like a bit of a fresh spin on the usual Corrie medical drama. Also this week, Joel's hatching some kind of plan that combines charitable donations, acting drunk and an almighty dollop of ominous background music.. but what exactly is he up to? Meanwhile, Hope's still on the vapes, Stu's back to defending Mason and Paul and Bernie finally manage to reach some kind

  • Christine Mackie Interview

    25/09/2024 Duration: 39min

For ten years now, we’ve enjoyed watching Christine Mackie as Dr Susan Gaddas, the go-to GP for Weatherfield residents. In this interview, Christine chats about her favourite moments diagnosing some of Corrie’s biggest legends. From treating everyone from Steve McDonald to Roy Cropper, to that memorable scene where Tim Metcalfe’s bares his bits – we cover it all! Does she think Gaddas should become a regular character? How hard is it to memorise all that medical jargon? And just what does she think of that Badass nickname? Tune in and find out!

  • Conversation Street Episode 646

    21/09/2024 Duration: 02h46min

On our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 16th and the 20th September 2024 (Episodes #11,363 - 11,368). As Joel got hauled into Weatherfield Police Station for the umpteenth time and Lauren spent yet another set of episodes standing over Frankie's incubator looking tragic, we were definitely starting to get a little weary of Swain and Dee-Dee's investigations this week, but with the CPS  *finally* agreeing to charge him on Friday, it looks like things might now be set to move forward. We might not have had too much to say about that story, but the aftermath of Paul's death certainly elicited some lively discussion - we're very much on Team Billy here and think that Bernie's being totally out of order... though we realise that that's not necessarily the prevailing opinion among viewers! Also this week, everyone's jetting off abroad, as Tracy returns to Spain, Bethany finds a job in Turkey and Tyrone fails to stop Alina returning to Romania

  • Jed Stone Character Profile

    17/09/2024 Duration: 01h11min

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile of Jed Stone, following the sad news of actor Kenneth Cope's passing last week. A bit of a proto-Eddie Yeats figure, Jed ducked and dived his way around Weatherfield during the 1960s, though he's perhaps best known in this stint for his touching relationship with landlady Minnie Caldwell. Jed returned to the cobbles 42 years later in 2008, and many of you will remember how he almost came a cropper at the hands of Tony Gordon!

  • Conversation Street Episode #645

    14/09/2024 Duration: 02h30min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown on the 9th and the 13th September 2024 (Episodes #11,359 - 11,362). There were tears aplenty this week as Paul finally succumbed to his MND in a dramatic episode on Monday which, though utterly heartbreaking at times, still managed to get in some of humour that's been running through this storyline since the start. With top notch performances from all the leads, we were very much satisfied with how the episode panned out - but will Billy and Bernie be able to put their differences aside to plan Paul the funeral he deserves? Also this week, Leanne manages to bring down Rowan, Tyrone resorts to desperate measures to stop Alina taking Dorin to Romania, and Swain makes a breakthrough in her secret pursuit of Joel. Up next in the podcast it's the Kabin, where we celebrate Peter Ash's win at the NTAs, and we round off the show with some of your feedback, including a passionate defence of the Swarla story! Street Talk - 00:10:12 The Kabin -

  • Paul Foreman Character Profile

    11/09/2024 Duration: 02h24min

After six years, Paul Foreman's time on the cobbles finally came to an end this week, and in this bonus episode of the podcast, we take a look back at his story. From his introduction as David's cellmate back in 2018 to his battle with MND over the past 18 months, we chat about his most memorable moments, reflect on our changing opinions of the character over the years, and discuss the highs and the lows of his relationship with Billy.

  • Conversation Street Episode 644

    07/09/2024 Duration: 02h45min

On this edition of the podcast, we chat about what went down in Weatherfield between the 2nd and the 6th September 2024 (Episodes 11,353 - 11,358). It's only been a few weeks since we were on the edge of our seats since the big Dee-Dee and Joel reveal episodes, but we were right there again on Wednesday night when Leanne discovered the truth about Nick and Toyah's secret affair. But with the 'sisters before misters' stance she takes on Friday, is that one relationship that's not getting any further off the ground? (Sorry Nick and Toyah shippers, but we can only hope!) Meanwhile, Swain doubles down on her pursuit of Joel, but is it at the expense of her relationship with her daughter? Also this week, Paul writes his manifesto, Cassie and Tracy lock horns and the magical money fairy of Weatherfield  waves her wand Webster-wards. Up next in the Kabin, we discuss Simon Gregson's surprising new side project, and we round off the podcast with more of your feedback. Street Talk - 00:14:21 The Kabin - 02:24:23 Feedba

  • Corrieliminator Round 5

    03/09/2024 Duration: 02h25min

Corrieliminator is back for Round 5, and if you thought last month was difficult when we were trying to whittle the selection down to a final three, this month is totally brutal! After picking our random names for the round, it was clear we'd have to sacrifice some bone fide legends this round, but hey - that's just the name of the game in Corrieliminator! Make sure you vote for your Top 3 from Round 5's selection over at the following link: https://forms.gle/J6cEnHzTkZsp2oZVA This episode is also available in video form here: https://youtu.be/a-76dbxfmXQ?si=DgB46YTxJYJfY1ga
