  • Conversation Street Episode 55

    17/08/2013 Duration: 01h28min

On this week's episode of Conversation Street, we celebrate the podcast's one year anniversary, as well as discussing the Corrie episodes shown in the UK between the 12th and the 16th August. Nick's not the only one fighting for his life this week, as Rita comes under attack from a bunch of teenagers on the Red Rec. Scary stuff indeed, although maybe not quite as terrfying as the prospect now faced by Craig of having the ever-creepy Karl as his best friend for the rest of his life. Meanwhile, we chat about the pros and cons of banning jogging bottoms and ponder whether a blast of Adam Rickett's 'Breathe Again' is just what Nick needs to get him out of his coma. In the character profile section, we say sayonara Kamara and take a look back on Mandy's brief time on the Street, then roll our eyes at Chris Fountain's off-screen antics in the news section. Feedback this week mostly centres around a discussion on how well Beth has managed to step out of Cilla's shadow.

  • Conversation Street Episode 54

    10/08/2013 Duration: 01h42min

This week on the podcast, we talk about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 2nd and 9th of August. We're back from our holiday, which means seven episodes to catch up with in Street Talk - it definitely turns out to be a long one! The main topic of conversation is, of course, the smashing time that Nick and David had during their late night drive on Monday evening. As David recalls the events of the accident to the police, can he avoid the finger of suspicion being pointed his way? And is the storyline enough of a distraction for Tina to stop her becoming embroiled once more in the lives of Gary and Izzy? We can only hope.. Meanwhile, we say hello to Rob and Tracy's new business venture, and goodbye to Mandy, who's no doubt gone off to meddle in the lives of some poor folk in Widdenshaw.

  • Conversation Street Episode 53

    31/07/2013 Duration: 59min

This week on the podcast, we chat about the Coronation Street episodes broadcast between the 29th and 31st July in the UK. Much like a couple of Corrie characters who've been in a long, exhausting storyline, we're off on holiday tomorrow, so we're keeping it relatively short this week! In Street Talk, we wonder whether things have finally turned a corner for Lloyd and Paul, and if it's the end of the road for Sophie and Jenna. Meanwhile, David's attempts to drive Nick and Leanne apart hit another roadblock. But enough of the random car-based metaphors! In The Kabin, we ask if Helen Flanagan is right when she says she has the best pair of airbags she's even seen (okay, just one more!) and finally take a look at the latest pictures from the new Corrie set - which leads into a discussion of our dreadful knowledge of Weatherfield geography!

  • Conversation Street Episode 52

    27/07/2013 Duration: 01h38min

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th July. There are some wonderful scenes this week between Roy, Hayley and Sylvia, ranging from the bittersweet humour of Roy's sleep-cleaning to the shocking revelation that Hayley only has a one in five chance of surviving the pancreatic cancer she's developed. Hats off to Alison King's acting this week too - we've loved seeing her play both the caring boss to Hayley and the excited newly engaged fiancée to Peter. Elsewhere on the Street, Marcus just isn't man enough to deal with Audrey's damp patch, leaving Owen to take control, and the racism story begins to get just a bit silly. With the big C on our minds this week, we look at fan favourite Alma Halliwell in the character profile section, and in The Kabin we discuss Corrie's latest batch of award nominations.

  • Conversation Street Episode 51

    20/07/2013 Duration: 01h26min

On this week's Conversation Street, we chat about the Corrie episodes broadcast in the UK between the 15th and the 19th July. Things go from bad to worse at Barlow's Bookies this week, as both Steve and Rob have a spot of luck at Peter's expense. With the odds he's been offering, it's a bit of a surprise that we haven't seen Norris having a bit of a flutter, as it begins to dawn on him what the financial implications of being a homeowner really are. Meanwhile, there's some devastating news for Hayley at the medical centre... the dishy Doctor Carter has upped and left! Oh, and she might also have cancer. Speaking of Doctor Carter, he goes under the spotlight in our character profile section. Congratulations are in order for new mum Katy Cavanagh in our news section, and we also take a look at the always entertaining Helen Flanagan's latest career move.

  • Conversation Street Episode 50

    14/07/2013 Duration: 01h30min

Conversation Street has reached Episode 50! In this week's show, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 8th and the 12th July. You'd be hard pressed to find a place for a quiet drink on the Street this week - at one end, Paul's under fire as a racism row breaks out in the Rovers, while over at the Bistro, sneaky David continues to do his best to cause friction between Nick and Leanne. And think you can escape all this by going to your local club? Not if scorned woman Katy is on your case... For a bit of a change for our 50th show, instead of the character profile, we pit some our favourite characters against each other in a new segment called... Street Fighter! Who'd come out on top in a battle to the death between David Platt and Hilda Ogden? Tune in to find out...

  • Conversation Street Episode 49

    06/07/2013 Duration: 01h34min

On this week's podcast, we discuss the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 1st and the 5th July in the UK. Topics of conversation in Street Talk include phobia of doctors, projectile peanuts and carpet chewing at the Websters' house. Plus, in a special section to mark the midpoint of the year, we give our thoughts on the past six months on the Street. What are our highs and lows, and what do we make of Stuart Blackburn's output so far? Tune in to find out! We finish off with a bit of news, including the shock departure of Dr Carter, and a couple of emails.

  • Conversation Street Episode 48

    29/06/2013 Duration: 01h26min

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 24th and the 28th June. As the identity of the cafe ghost is finally revealed, the spirit of Florence Nightingale lives on in Norris - but does he have an ulterior motive? Meanwhile, the battle between Izzy and Tina comes to an end - though not before the pair of them decide that neither of them are going to keep the baby! And if none of that takes your fancy, you can always listen to the tale of a young Gemma getting three balls of cotton wool surgically removed from her nostrils - now THAT would make a great Corrie storyline! This week's character profile is everybody's favourite busybody, Norris Cole. Next week we'll be doing a quick review of the year so far, so make sure you get your comments in for that!

  • Conversation Street Episode 47

    22/06/2013 Duration: 01h35min

On this week's episode of Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of the show broadcast between the 17th and the 21st June in the UK. A big chunk of Street Talk is taken up by all the drama going on in the Platt household - there's been some great acting by Jack P. Shepherd this week, and we can't wait to see what Evil David gets up to next. Also celebrated are the performances of Debbie Rush (Anna gave Tina just what she deserves on Friday's episode) and Eileen Derbyshire's surely BSA-winning tumble from a stepladder! In the news section, we have a look at what the Corrie cast wore at Simon Gregson's recent charity event, and weigh up Craig Charles' chances of being the next Doctor Who. The classic character profile is a little obscure this week, but after all the supposed paranormal activity going on at the cafe recently, we thought we'd summon Matha Longhurst's ghost once more, then chat about other paranormal happenings on the cobbles over the years.

  • Conversation Street Episode 46

    15/06/2013 Duration: 01h22min

This week on Conversation Street, we talk about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th June. Tune in to hear us express our excitement about the Detecdev storyline, our surprise at the how, for the second week running, Surro-gate is actually interesting, and our disappointment in the content of Gail's kitchen cupboard. Our character profile this week is bad boy gone good, Gary Windass, and we round off with discussions about who's been the best dad on the Street and which characters would make the most promising Big Brother contestants.

  • Conversation Street Episode 45

    08/06/2013 Duration: 01h27min

This week on the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 3rd and the 7th June. The goings on in the Surro-gate drama may well be as predictable as Izzy's continual whinging, but there are certainly a few surprises in store in the Marcus and Maria storyline, as he reveals to old friends that not only is he seeing Maria, but that he still considers himself gay! Meanwhile, Dev's on the case to prove Sunita's innocence, and we think he might just have found the evidence he's been looking for... Because of all the recent goings on in the factory, we've been thinking about Corrie's very own Alan Sugar: Mike Baldwin, who we put under the microscope in the character profile section. We finish up with a little bit of news and feedback, before rounding off with some talk of the latest surprising cast announcement!

  • Conversation Street Episode 44

    01/06/2013 Duration: 01h25min

On Episode 44 of Conversation Street, there's an extra-long catch up Street Talk, as we chat about the episodes between the 24th and the 31st May. With Britain's Got Talent filling up ITV's prime slots this week, Corrie's been bumped to 9pm, but how do the episodes compare to previous 'big weeks' in the past? There's drama at the Rovers' reopening as Tina goes into labour two months early; meanwhile, at the opposite end of the Street, there's a stitch up afoot in the knicker factory. And what's Sally up to on t'Internet? Not mechanic/conservatory fetish sites, as we first thought, but she's entered the world of online dating! No character profile again this week (it'll be back next week, we promise!) but we do have quite a bit of news to cover in the Kabin, including Helen Flanagan's recent brush with the law..

  • Conversation Street Episode 43

    23/05/2013 Duration: 49min

It's a short episode this week, coming out earlier than usual due to our trip to London this weekend. As such, we only discuss the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 20th and 22nd May. The Surro-gate and Ches Mis storylines collide, as Katy finds out about Gary making a pass at Tina, while there's a welcome return to the cobbles for Sinead. Meanwhile, Peter's had enough of Rob at the bookies, and Roy seems to have had enough of, well.. everyone. We celebrate Corrie's triumph at the British Soap Awards in the news section, whilst looking ahead to yet another set of telly awards, and we round things off with a bit of feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 42

    18/05/2013 Duration: 01h34min

This week on the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 13th and 17th May. Unexpected news comes from two recent deaths this week; one is a cause for celebration in the Price household, whilst the other causes heartbreak and regret for Roy. Meanwhile, Gary finally makes his moves on Tina, but how long until Izzy finds out? Also, slightly off topic, we ponder whether Norris would make a good Mary-Alice Young! In the Kabin, we discuss Corrie's latest celebrity cameo and cross our fingers for the British Soap Awards, and in the feedback section, we answer a listener's question about which current young cast member has the potential to be a Corrie classic. Our character profile this week is fan-favourite, Royston Cropper.

  • Conversation Street Episode 41

    11/05/2013 Duration: 01h17min

On this week's Conversation Street, we talk about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 6th and the 10th May. The hunt for a beige wedding dress is on, as Stella finally accepts Karl's marriage proposal, whilst a letter from the past rakes up bad memories for Sylvia and Roy. Speaking of raking up the past, it seems that writers have suddenly remembered that David suffers from epilepsy, which rears its head during an unfortunate trip to the duck pond. In the news section, we pass on our best wishes to the poorly Liz Dawn, and the best of luck to Helen Flanagan, who's going to need it if she pursues her latest dream.. In the classic character profile section, we celebrate Rovers royalty, and talk about the one and only Annie Walker.

  • Conversation Street Episode 40

    04/05/2013 Duration: 01h28min

On this week's Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 29th April and the 3rd May. Apart from the continuing drama between Peter and Rob (the bookie and the rookie, as we're calling them), it's all change for the other main storylines this week. While Dev, Faye and Chesnsey take a bit of a break, we catch up with the latest developments between Karl and Stella, and Paul and Eileen. We also celebrate the return of the Platts (even if the Who's The Daddy? storyline is unfortunately far from over) and finally get an explanation as to why we won't be seeing Kevin for a while. In the news section, it's been a good week for Helen Flanagan... less so for Bill Roache. Our character profile this week is the man of many faces (and ages!) Peter Barlow.

  • Conversation Street Episode 39

    27/04/2013 Duration: 01h28min

On this week's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th April (although somehow we manage to start the show saying it's August!). Peter and Carla are in the foreground this week, as they struggle to save the ailing bookies. Meanwhile, all bets are off regarding Gary's true intentions towards Tina, as he does his best to scupper any chance of a reunion between her and Tommy. In the classic character profile section, we take a look at Toyah Battersby, who went from neighbour from Hell to eco-warrior to barmaid, and even enjoyed a brief spell as a post-modern artist! Finally, we weigh up Corrie's chances in this year's British Soap Awards, before looking through this week's feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 38

    20/04/2013 Duration: 01h20min

On this week's show, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 15th and the 19th April. It seems like children are causing a lot of problems in this week's episodes: Anna has to fight to stop Faye from visiting Tim (although many people would say to let the little brat go for good!), Dev struggles to look after the twins and starts his search for a nanny, whilst an unborn baby may be bringing two Street residents into a forbidden relationship... In the news section we talk about some pictures that have appeared online and caused a bit of a stir this week, and our character profile is of overprotective father Owen Armstrong.

  • Conversation Street Episode 37

    13/04/2013 Duration: 01h24min

This week on Conversation Street, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 8th and the 12th April. This week, Coronation Street tackles some of the big questions in life, such as 'Is there such place as heaven?' 'Is it okay for your coffin to be carried by the man that murdered you?' and 'Is it still an ocean pie if it only contains haddock?' Speaking of which, there's something very fishy about the way Karl's acting at the funeral - how much longer can he and Stella keep their rekindled relationship a secret? We also discuss who is the most unreasonable one out of Paul and Eileen, and ponder whether or not Tim can be trusted. We've got one of our favourite classic character profiles this week - after all this talk of funerals, who else could we pick but professional mourner (and moaner!) Blanche Hunt. Warning: Contains long list of hilarious quotes!
