It was a dominant effort by the Panthers who set the tone with 20 shots in the first period, and getting clear lanes to the net as LA had a hard time preventing them from getting to the blue paint. The second line was buzzing on the evening where Mackie Samoskevich, Sam Bennett, and Matthew Tkachuk combined for 16 shots, resulting in two goals. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down the Panthers' 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights from the Fortress. The Cats on the second end of their back-to-back controlled play for the start and end of the first period, and carried it over to the second. However, VGK extended their lead to two after their second shot on goal of the period that made it hard to come back from. After some lines changes in the second period, the Panthers were able to cut it to one in the opening minutes of the third period to still make a game out of it. Vegas scored just past the midway points of the third period, and would remain in control for the remainder of the contest. Spencer Knight kept the Cats in it after two consecutive breakaway stops, but an untimely penalty with five minutes left in the frame put the game out of reach. The Kings were in control in the first period where the Panthers got into early penalty trouble, but once again, staying out of the box the rest of the game gave them an opportunity to play a tight hockey game. The Panthers prevented the Kings from getting to the dirty area in the first 40 minutes. Although the Panthers broke their four-game drought of not scoring on the power play, it was the only scoring that they got on the night against the NHL's best defensive team. Although the Panthers struggled to get to the net front, they were still able to generate plenty of speed on the night. On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to break down Saturday's 4-3 loss for the Panthers against the Boston Bruins at home. The Cats outshot Boston by more than double, but Jeremy Swayman backstopped the Bruins to a win. Although the Cats gave up two goals on the PK, they went three straight kills without allowing a shot, they limited the breakaway chances, and although they never had a lead, they consistently pushed and had Boston on their heels, even going into the final frame. It manifested in a goal by Sam Reinhart with less than 2 seconds less in regulation to give the Panthers a point, the Cats did have force over time, but due to a penalty taken, the Bruins went on the power play and converted to get the extra point on a block that ended up in the back of their net.
