A special edition of the Spanish Jazz radio show 'Club de Jazz' where we conducted an interview with Tomasz D?browski, Maciej Obara e Irek Wojtczak. What are the reasons for the big bang in Polish jazz in recent years? We try to answer this question in a conversation with three Polish players: trumpeter Tomasz Dabrowski (b. 1985) and saxophonists Macej Obara (b. 1981), and Irek Wojtczak (b. 1968). D?browski recently celebrated his 30th anniversary with a series of 30 solo concerts. The interview was recorded last November at the Guimarães Jazz Festival, in Portugal. Rodrigo Amado (Lisbon, 1964) is one of the most renowned jazz musicians in the Portuguese jazz scene. In 2009 he formed the Motion Trio along with Miguel Mira (chelo) and Gabriel Ferrandini (drums), with whom he has just released "Desire & Freedom". Along the years, Rodrigo has played with Peter Evans, Jeb Bishop, Joe McPhee and Paal Nilssen-Love, among others. Being a sideman for David Bowie on "Blackstar" has changed Donny McCaslin's musical life. Bowie has somehow kept him busy throughout the year, both through the "Blackstar" effect and the world tour for his own, Bowie-inspired, "Beyond Now". Born and raised in Norway, Didrik Ingvaldsen has pursued a career in music as trumpeter, composer and educator since 1984. He has performed with ensembles such as the Stavanger Kitchen Orchestra and UMO Jazz Orchestra. In 2016, Ingvaldsen is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his main band project, Pocket Corner, which he took to Spain in November 2016. The list of musicians with whom Marc Ribot (Newark, 1954) has worked is just mind-boggling: from Tom Waits to Elvis Costello to Marianne Faithfull to many others. Ever since the 1980s, Ribot has been part of the most creative New York musical scene, from the time when he played with the John Lurie's Lounge Lizards. Today, Ribot is well known not only for his collaborations with John Zorn, but also as the leader of several projects, like his trio (with Chad Taylor and Henry Grimes), as well as the bands Los Cubanos Postizos and Ceramic Dog.
