  • Conversation Street Episode 235

    14/01/2017 Duration: 02h02min

Our latest podcast covers the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 9th and the 13th January. This week's shows certainly got people talking, didn't they? Whether you found Michelle's miscarriage on Wednesday brilliant drama or deeply uncomfortable viewing, it can't be denied that Kym put in a powerhouse performance, made even more real by her own personal experiences. We talk about the issues this latest plot development has raised and consider what could be next for Steve and Michelle. Don't worry, though, it's not all doom and gloom - hopefully you'll at least find Gemma's attempts to work out the proper Irish spelling of Ruairi amusing! Also this week, Bethany continues to be lured in by the enigmatic Nathan, Andy rolls over for Phelan yet again, and Chesney is left red-faced after worming his way out of a night out with Sinead. Next up, to commemorate 40 years since her first appearance on the cobbles, we do a classic character profile on Suzie Birchall (no, we don't know much abo

  • Conversation Street Episode 234

    07/01/2017 Duration: 02h01min

The first podcast of 2017 has us discussing the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 30th December and 6th January. We don't know about you, but we certainly had Happy New Year when it came to Corrie watching this week, what with Jenny and Johnny taking centre stage for much of the seven episodes. The official 'Best New Couple of 2016' certainly had their ups and downs this week, but we were thrilled with how it all ended - now Johnny needs to get that wedding ring on her finger fast, before Aidan starts meddling. Still, if his schemes to split them up are anything like that busines plan he was putting together in the Bistro on Friday, we think they'll be okay. Elsewhere on the Street, Mary, Andy and Roy all decide to stay in Weatherfield after all (did anyone really expect them to leave?), and Phelan starts to put the wheels of his next evil scheme in motion. After Street Talk, we look at the Top 10 most featured characters on Corrie of 2016 in the Kabin, then finish off with a selec

  • Conversation Street Episode 233 - The Conversation Street Awards 2016

    02/01/2017 Duration: 02h29min

Welcome, one and all, to the Conversation Street Awards 2016! We've tallied all your votes, and now the time has come to reveal whose virtual mantlepiece will soon be adorned with one of our prestigious pixelly prizes. Which guys and girls will be crowned Top Lad and Top Lass? Which shocking moment had us all gasping "By 'Eck!"? Which new lovers have set our own hearts aflutter? Can anyone really beat Pat Phelan in his evil scheme to take home every 'Best Soap Villain' award there is going? Download Episode 233 and find out! Following the awards show, there is, as always, the after party, and the topic of conversation around the buffet table is, of course, a critique of the past 12 months on the cobbles. We round off the show with our 2017 predictions - all of which are 100% guaranteed to come true. Maybe.

  • Conversation Street Episode 232

    27/12/2016 Duration: 01h59min

In this week's episode of the podcast, we chat about the episodes shown in the UK between the 23rd and the 26th December. Christmas Day has arrived in Weatherfield, so let's cross off the usual tropes: Festive punch up? Check! Family secrets revealed? Check! Present mix-up? Character behind bars? Obnoxious incidental music? Check, check and check! Corrie certainly didn't go out of its way to do anything radically different this Christmas, but we didn't care, because we absolutely loved the hour-long special this week, and despite the identy of Peter's secret woman hardly being a shock, we were thrilled to see the return of Our Toyah to the cobbles. As well as that, we've had the arrival of Mary's son, the beginning of Billy's return to the Church, and some sinister and intriguing goings-on around Bethany. We'd like to thank all our listeners for tuning in in 2016, and wish you all a Happy New Year - we'll be back early January with the Conversation Street Awards!

  • Conversation Street Episode 231

    22/12/2016 Duration: 02h27min

Merry Christmas, everyone! Episode 231 is our last podcast before the big day, and covers Coronation Street between the 19th and the 21st December. Gemma is now in the know about Mary's secret son, and she attempts to harness the power of social media to find him. Her video isn't the only thing that gets around this week, though - Maria basically spends Monday and Wednesday's episodes fitting in as much nookie as she can before her court date, and nearly ends up getting herself gassed to death in the process. Meanwhile, Bethany's hoping for some bedroom action of her own as she tries to seduce Gary on a trip to Leeds. After Street Talk, we get all festive and count down our Top Ten Christmas Day moments on the Street, before sharing our thoughts on this week's Jean Alexander tribute show in The Kabin. We've got a Santa's sackload of festive feedback to get through towards the end of the podcast, and we round things off with a short discussion of some upcoming character departures in a Kabin Extra.

  • Conversation Street Episode 230

    17/12/2016 Duration: 02h13min

On our latest podcast, we talk about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 12th and the 16th December in the UK. Roy and Cathy's countdown clock has reached zero and their wedding day has arrived, but will they actually make it down the aisle before Roy's true feelings are discovered by his bride-to-be? Meanwhile, Phelan winds up in hospital after Andy, in a rare show of doing something interesting, whacks him on the back of the head with a brick. We actually start to gather some compelling evidence that Phelan's some sort of cyborg when we get to discussing this part, so we hope you don't mind things getting a tad off topic! Also this week, Tim's lost Australia, Drunk Nick proves to be just as fun as Angry Nick, and Michelle actually has a scene that made us kind of like her a bit more! After Street Talk, we get all festive with a game of 20 Corrie Questions, find out CBC's Christmas schedules in The Kabin, and finish off with a bumper feedback section.

  • Conversation Street Episode 229

    11/12/2016 Duration: 02h30min

On this week's podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th December. If you thought Beth's bigamy and Sharif's 7-year affair were difficult to believe, there's another shock in store for you this week: Mary's had a secret, long-lost son all this time! Also keeping secrets this week is Peter, who's clearly got another woman on the side - not that that stops him flirting outrageously with Leanne all week, though! We just like how it winds Nick up... Meanwhile, Roy makes a rash decision about his future with Cathy, and Nessa's back and causing mischief already. Following Street Talk, we launch the Conversation Street Awards 2016, listing and discussing the nominees in each category. Make sure you get your vote in by the end of the year! Up next, we whizz through some news items in the Kabin, before rounding off the episode with some listener feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 228

    03/12/2016 Duration: 02h23min

Episode 228 of Conversation Street sees us discussing Corrie between the 28th November and the 2nd December in the UK. After last week's superb episodes, this week had a lot to live up to, and, in our opinion, it didn't quite manage it. Yes, we had the climax of Caz's 'murder' storyline, but there were a few too many lucky coincidences leading up to her arrest for our liking. We also had quite a bit of filler content this week too, with the twins' scratchcard shenanigans and Tim's allotment storyline being perfect examples. At least we got a nice wedding out of the week, though, and we're looking forward to the prospect of more drama to come for Rana and Zeedan. After Street Talk, it's time for a listener questions segment, where we discuss our favourite Corrie weddings and what the future may hold for David. Next up, we remember the late Andrew Sachs' role in Corrie in The Kabin, before hearing some of our listeners' opinions on Phelan in the feedback section.

  • Conversation Street Episode 227

    26/11/2016 Duration: 02h31min

It's been a week and a half since our last podcast, which means we have the eight episodes between the 18th and the 25th November to cover. What a fantastic eight episodes they were, though! Kicking off with Michael kicking the bucket and ending with Phelan weaseling his way back into Eileen's affections after being shafted by Vinny, the Pat's Flats storyline was a triumph this week. Not only that, but the decision to bring the Barlow boys back to the Street also proved to be a wise one, with Daniel's suspicious behaviour and subsequent revelation about his upbringing proving to be an interesting development. On top of that, we had some hilarious Gemma scenes, more of the wonderful Yasmeen, and the return of one of our favourite comedy characters of late: Brian Packham. We don't have a middle section this week (though we do end up somehow end up spending 25 minutes singing the praises of our character of the week - no surprises who it is..) but there's still a bit of news to discuss, including Les Dennis' fir

  • Conversation Street Episode 226

    17/11/2016 Duration: 02h03min

It's time for another midweek podcast, this time focusing on the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 14th and the 17th November. This week, Michael finally thinks he's got the ammo he needs in his mission to take down Phelan; little does he know, however, that Pat's got a secret weapon of his own stashed in his rucksack. Meanwhile, the Barlow dynasty in Weatherfield is bostered by two when Adam and Daniel return to the Street - we got real vibes of Ken vs. Mike in these two, and we're looking forward to seeing what they'll add to the show. It's been a while since Adam last graced our screens, so we thought it would be useful to have a quick refresher on him in the character profile section. Next, we weigh up the reliability of last weekend's Eileen Derbyshire rumours and check out the red carpet fashion at the RTS North West Awards, before rounding off the show with a bumper feedback section.

  • Conversation Street Episode 225

    11/11/2016 Duration: 02h11min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 4th and the 10th November. It was another strong week, in our opinion, with the big reveal of Sharif's affair - and his subsequent scarpering - being the highlight. Seemingly going against popular opinion online, we also loved all the Caz stuff, as admittedly unrealistic as it maybe was. The only real downside was Anna and Kevin's pointless and short-lived break up - Anna's had about as much screen time with her so-called boyfriend this year as she's had with Emily Bishop, so we did struggle to care when she dumped him! Next up, we take a look at Sharif's brief time on the Street with a character profile, and ponder what's next for the Nazirs. In The Kabin, we take a look at some interesting statistics from The Press Association, then we round off the show with some listener feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 224

    03/11/2016 Duration: 01h45min

We've got a busy Friday and Saturday ahead, so we're coming at you early this week, covering the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 31st October and the 2nd November. It's Halloween in Weatherfield, with Steve and Kirk competing to be the ultimate Uncle Fester, Mystic Mary telling fortunes in the Rovers, and Anna's legs doing their best Freddy Kreuger impression. Meanwhile, as Caz appears to be playing a nasty trick on Maria, Rana's treated to a fabulous diamond ring when she agrees to marry Zeedan. In the Kabin, we take a look at some of the Corrie cast's scarily good Halloween outfits, then we round off the podcast with some feedback from listeners old and new.

  • Conversation Street Episode 223

    29/10/2016 Duration: 03h07min

Our latest podcast focuses on the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 24th and the 29th October in the UK. It's a classic aftermath week this week, with plenty of trips to and from Weatherfield General and a variety of dire prognoses. Meanwhile, back on the Street, Michelle and Steve eagerly await his genetic testing results, and Gary gives Sarah a thorough oral examination in the ginnel. After Street Talk we move onto this week's feature discussion, and a topic that isn't exactly our forte: the world of sport! We delve into the various stories over the years that have had a sporting theme, from inter-pub Olympics to ping-pong, and do some mini character profiles on some of Weatherfield County's top players. In the Kabin, we look over some behind the scenes info about last week's fiery stunt, then round things off, as always, with some feedback from our lovely listeners.

  • Conversation Street Episode 222

    22/10/2016 Duration: 02h40min

It's been a big week for Corrie this week, both on-screen and off, and we start today's episode with a tribute to Jean Alexander, including an obituary, short discussion and some clips of some of Hilda's most memorable scenes. From there, we launch into the regular Street Talk section, and a lengthy chat about of what's easily been one of the most exciting Weatherfield weeks of the year - the 17th to the 21st October in the UK. Going into the week, all we knew was that Peter would be returning, and that David would presumably try to carry out his plan to blow up himself and Clayton, so we were on the edge of our seat for most of the five episodes! David's imprisonment in the Bistro cellar, his Shawshank-style break out attempt and Friday's climax were  all brilliant (though Michael's certainly had his fill of Corrie car crashes for now..), but the biggest shock of the week was Ken's stroke on Monday - we're really looking forward to seeing how the Barlow clan cope with this one! After Street Talk, we cover a

  • Conversation Street Episode 221

    15/10/2016 Duration: 02h22min

Our latest podcast covers the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th October in the UK. Although there were some peripheral stories involving the likes of Faye, Phelan and the Barlows, the main focus of the week was squarely on David's revenge plot and Steve's discovery that he could have inherited a rare genetic condition. Both interesting routes for the stories to go down, for sure - we're especially looking forward to finding out the extent of David's plans next week - but it did make for a rather dark and depressing few episodes of Corrie! After Street Talk, we do a classic character profile, this time focusing on cabbie Don Brennan. Like David, Don had a bit of a dark side, and had a number of suicide events involving his taxi, so we thought we could make a few comparisons with this week's developments there! The Kabin this week starts off with the terrible news of Jean Alexander's death - a story that broke in the middle of us recording the show. We also cover th

  • Conversation Street Episode 220

    08/10/2016 Duration: 02h39min

Welcome to Episode 220 of Conversation Street, where we talk about Corrie between the 3rd and the 7th October in the UK. A great mix of storylines on the show this week, and some fantastic acting from Jack P Shepherd as David gets beaten up by Lauren's dad then arrested when Macca ends up being hospitalised. We also loved all the comedy the week had to offer too, including the latest updates to Andy's novel and the rivalry between Steve and Tim over their new football friend. The Pat's Flats story also continued to grip us, with Eileen coming closer than ever to finding out about Phelan's dodgy dealings. Surely the big reveal can't be far away now? After Street Talk, we tackle a couple of listener questions, the first about whether Corrie could survive in a spoiler-free world, and the second asking which characters we'd invite around to a dinner party. Next, we take a look at how Corrie fared in the Inside Soap Awards (plus more red carpet fashion talk, of course!) and hear some listeners' thoughts on Mary in

  • Conversation Street Episode 219

    01/10/2016 Duration: 02h06min

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 26th and 30th September in the UK. Some sad episodes for dog lovers this week, as Ozzy falls foul of Corrie's 'fine one minute, gone the next' curse. As he heads to the big dog kennel in the sky, crazy Caz sees an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and get closer to Maria. Speaking of taking advantage, Alya jumps at the chance to blackmail Sharif this week in order to get her lingerie side-line off the ground, and Sharif has to resort to desperate measures to  secure a flat for Sonia. Meanwhile, Todd does his best to try and win back gullible Billy, and we finally get to find out what made him turn to the dark side when he was living in London. After Street Talk, we try out a (kind of) new segment for the podcast: a character profile revisit. It's been more than 200 episodes since our last profile of Mary Taylor, and this week we take a look back over the past four years to see how things have changed for her.

  • Conversation Street Episode 218

    25/09/2016 Duration: 02h32min

On the podcast this week, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 19th and 23rd September. So much for keeping that affair quiet eh, Sharif? It's only been a few weeks since his seven-year secret was revealed to the viewers, and already Alya's suspicious of Sonia and her grandfather's behaviour. Speaking of secrets, Cathy makes a shocking discovery about Alex's parentage this week, but will she be able to bring herself to reveal it to him? Meanwhile, it's the end of the road for Billy and Todd (hooray!) when it turns out who contacted the bishop last week, but what do we make of Todd's return to the dark side - and should Phelan really trust him? After Street Talk, we chat with Glenda Young about her recently released Coronation Street Colouring Book, before covering a couple of news stories involving Jack P Shepherd in The Kabin. We're very excited to receive a voice message from a listener in the feedback section, then we round off the podcast with a couple of potenti

  • Conversation Street Episode 217

    17/09/2016 Duration: 03h07min

This week's Conversation Street covers the episodes broadcast in the UK between the 12th and the 17th September. Strap yourselves in, folks - this podcast is a bit of a long one, thanks in part to some excellent plot developments in the show that we just couldn't stop talking about! First off, Beth's big secret is finally revealed, and it's something we were NOT expecting. Yes, her bigamous bombshell does seem to have split up yet another happy soap couple, but for the sheer drama it's caused (plus the fact it was kept quiet by ITV), we kind of don't mind! Next up, we have the Pat's Flats story, and THAT rooftop scene - incredibly tense stuff, and we can't wait to find out what happens next week. Then we have Billy considering leaving his position in the church over some silly fling with Todd... What's that? They love each other? Hmm... We're still not convinced. Street Talk is followed by an extended discussion of how religion has been portrayed on Corrie over the years. From Ena Sharples and Emily Bishop to

  • Conversation Street Episode 216

    10/09/2016 Duration: 02h35min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 5th and the 9th September. The crazy Platt brothers are on fine form this week - first there's Nick, who kidnaps Steve and threatens to tell Michelle the truth about Leanne's baby's father; then on Friday, David unleashes his inner Sweeney Todd by giving Lauren a hair-raising experience in the barber's chair. Meanwhile, Todd's disdain for Billy's faith causes problems in the bedroom, and Caz prepares to make the moves on Maria. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Maxine Peacock, the hair stylist whose life was cut short thanks to serial killer Richard Hillman (she really should have stayed at that party...). We then celebrate Shayne Ward's win at the TV Choice Awards and take a look at the red carpet fashion from the Corrie ladies and gents. This is followed by the usual feedback, then the show finishes off with news of another character's return  to the cobbles (or will it be two more characters?)
