For our bonus podcast this week, we chat about our week up in Manchester, touring the city and looking for key locations linked to our favourite soap. For this week's bonus podcast, we have a character profile of Renee Roberts. This shopkeeper may be best known for her grisly death rather than anything she actually got up to on the Street, but now that we've had the chance to watch some of the episodes she was in in the late 70s, we thought it was the perfect time to take a look back at her time on Corrie and share our thoughts. 

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 20th and the 24th July (Episodes #10,090 - 10,092).   This was the week we'd been looking forward to for quite a while - Friday in particular, which was the first episode to be fully filmed since lockdown, and therefore make reference to coronavirus. We start the Street Talk segment of the podcast discussing how well we thought Corrie dealt with the pandemic in its scripts and overall production before delving into the Geoff and Yasmeen story, which saw some major developments this week thanks to the introduction of one of Geoff's exes, as well as a heart attack for poor Yas and a rare Corrie dream sequence. Our bonus podcast this week is a listener question segment, where we share our thoughts on two more topics sent in by you guys. Firstly, we've all spent longer in our homes than ever this year thanks to lockdown, but if six Corrie characters were to be quarantined together, who would we pick, and why? We go over a few ideas, wondering whether it'd be better to go for people who get on, who'd antagonise each other or simply who'd get some much needed time on the screen if they were in a six-hander! After that, we stretch our creative muscles and come up with ideas for a time travel episode of Corrie - if characters could take a trip to any period in history, who would we pick and where and when would they go to?

On this episode of the podcast, we take a look at what went on in Weatherfield in the week of the 6th to the 10th July. After a bit of a break, the coercive control story returns in full force this week, with Yasmeen gaining a firm supporter in Sally after talking with her during prison visiting time. With Tim refusing to betray his dad and Geoff getting an unexpected ally in the form of Tyrone, though, the Great Magnifico is far from defeated. Also this week, Leanne continues to lash out at those trying to support her, Roy unwittingly plays gooseberry again, and Michael's hopes of a romantic reconciliation with Grace are dashed. For our bonus podcast this week, it's time for another vintage Corrie discussion as we reach the end of our 70s boxset. With 1976 seeing legendary Coronation Street producer Bill Podmore taking the helm of our favourite soap, the second half of the 70s is seen by many as the start of a golden era for the show, but did it live up to its reputation for us? Join us as we discuss classic episodes including the Rovers lorry crash, the Silver Jubilee and a whole bunch of fantastic Ogden capers, including the jewel in Corrie's 1970s crown: Stan and Hilda's second honeymoon. We all know what Hilda's lipstick tasted of, but did we think the rest of the episodes between 1975 and 1979 had just as much flavour? Tune in and find out!

After a somewhat disappointing week last week, this set of episodes were right back on form, with some fantastic performances from the entire cast in the wake of Oliver's diagnosis. As Leanne and Steve reel from the news that their son's not going to get better, Toyah and Imran make the difficult decision to put their fostering plans on hold, Nick continues to be pushed to the side lines and some painful memories are stirred for Jenny. Poor Elsie Tanner had had a bit of a bad track record with men up until the late 1960s, but when Alan Howard showed up on the scene in 1969, she thought she'd finally met Mr Right. In this character profile, we take a look at the life of Elsie's husband number three, who was actually played by the actor who went on to marry Pat Phoenix in real life. The chemistry was clearly right off-screen, but did it come across in Corrie?

On our latest podcast, we cover the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 22nd and the 26th June (Episodes #10,078 - 10,080) Despite a lot of the main players being characters we actually quite like, we sadly didn't find a whole lot to maintain our interest this week. There were baby steps taken in the David and Shona story, and the same with the mystery surrounding Carla and Scott, whilst the Emma, Seb and Alina love triangle that everyone had kind of forgotten about returned after a few months, only to meander about and seemingly get nowhere. Let's just hope that, like that glint in Evelyn's father's trousers, some of the seeds that were sown this week will cause new life to bloom in the next few episodes. We've reached the end of June, which means we're already halfway through Corrie's 60th year, and as is our annual tradition, our bonus content for this week is a reflection on last six months in Weatherfield. Well, we say say that, but it's actually more like four and a bit months in Weatherfield and six for us, as the global pandemic we've faced has meant that, like the rest of the world, Corrie's had to make a fair few changes to its 2020 plans. We start off by sharing our thoughts on how well the show has responded to life in lockdown, before chatting about some of our highlights and lowlights of six months on the Street. From the hard-hitting drama of the Geoff and Yasmeen coercive control story to the renaissance of the the Alahans and the cosy nostalgia of the 10,000th episode, there's been a lot to like so far in 2020, and we're cautiously optimistic about the direction things are heading for the anniversary celebrations in December. Here at Conversation Street, we love a good villain, and to add a bit of a twist to the discussion, we knocked up a set of Top Trumps cards featuring some of Weatherfield's biggest bad boys. Comparing categories like notoriety, cunning and damage caused, we pit dastardly duos against each other, all the while wallowing in the memories of some of Corrie's most explosive storylines.

For our bonus podcast this week, which we're releasing early as it was just sitting there ready to go (and also the nature of the subject matter means it could well go out of date at any time!), we're chatting about Corrie's back to work plans. With lockdown measures easing and the number of episodes recorded up to March getting smaller and smaller, it's back to the cobbles for the cast and crew next week - but it's far from business as usual. There'll be social distancing, takeaways from the Rovers and episodes written specifically to fit three in a week - it's still going to be a while until the show goes back to normal, but it's a positive start! In this episode, we muse over a few ideas for how the gap between old and new episodes maybe bridged, ponder how more vulnerable cast members could still be included, and consider what lessons the higher ups at Corrie might have taken away after overcoming one of the show's biggest ever hurdles.

Sorry for the late bonus episode this week! Somehow, despite having half as much Corrie to watch at the moment, we still managed to run out of webspace for May! In this listener questions segment, we tackle two more of your Corrie queries. First off, Rachel wants to know how what's the furthest Corrie has ever filmed away from the set. Yes, that could be a question we could answer and move on from in less than thirty seconds, but do you really think that'd stop us nattering on about Corrie's trips abroad for a good half an hour? Of course not! Next up, Reuben wants to know whether there are any generally disliked Corrie characters that we've got a soft spot for. In answering that, we consider firstly which characters don't tend to get a lot of love from many viewers, before coming to the defence of some of our Corrie favourites.
