On our latest podcast, we take a look at what went on in Weatherfield between the 27th February and the 3rd March 2022 (Episodes #10888 - 10893) Every so often, you'll get an episode of Corrie that you'll sit in front of thinking, 'What on earth am I watching?' That was us - and presumably countless other viewers! - on Thursday night as we saw the effects of Stephen accidentally taking a massive dose of LSD that was meant for Carla. Now whether or not you actually liked those scenes is another matter entirely - but we have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle, despite it admittedly not exactly being 'Classic Corrie'! This week also saw the start of the consent story, with Aaron taking advantage of a passed out Amy after a night of drunken revelry. Uncomfortable viewing for sure, and we're certainly intrigued to see the after effects next week. After last week's kinda dull offering, we really thought that Corrie was firing on all cylinders this week - and who'd have guessed that Alya of all characters would be the one to do it? From the brilliantly written scenes where she visits Max in prison to the heart-wrenching reading of her victim personal statement, we were totally gripped by the climax of the far right story this week, and for it to also include Shona's return, some lovey character moments between David and Maria and Spider triumphing over Griff made it all the better. Just a shame that Blake's sentencing and Councillor Cameron's comeuppance were rushed through! Brought to life by self-confessed Corrie nut Julia Goulding, Shona has kept us glued to our screens since her debut at the end of 2016, whether we're watching the trials and tribulations of her difficult relationship with estranged son Clayton or her comedic antics alongside husband David. On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 13th and the 17th February (Episodes #10876 - 10881). We're sorry to say that this was another one of those weeks that didn't do a whole lot for us, unfortunately, and we didn't end up having a whole lot to say about this week's goings on in Weatherfield. There was a definite case of 'seen it all before' with some of the stories - the return of the Billy, Paul and Todd love triangle, hospital scenes aplenty, prison bullies, Alya being a trooper, characters cringing as Brian tries to be trendy.. heck, this is even the third motorbike related mishap we've had in the past twelve months! Did the Hashim story need dredging up again? Did the conclusion of Peter's bartering saga need to be brought to an end in such a quick and convenient fashion? For this February half term (and a bit of a Valentine's Day treat to each other!), we decided to take another trip up to Manchester, where we were lucky enough to be invited on a little behind the scenes tour of Coronation Street. Not only did we get the chance to explore the newly opened Weatherfield Precinct, but we also got the chance to have a look around Carla and Peter's new flat, Roy's Rolls and Underworld!  We've also made a video version of this podcast, with loads of footage from our trip away, which you can find over on our YouTube channel. For our bonus podcast this week, we chat about the character of Ryan Connor. It's been over ten years since we last profiled him on Conversation Street (way back in Episode #10!), so we thought it was about time we caught up with what everyone's favourite Weatherfield DJ (sorry, Geoff..) has been up to since. He may not exactly be one of the most commonly seen characters on the cobbles right now, but he's certainly given us a good few laughs over the past five years - Ryan Prescott's incarnation has completely revitalised the character, as far as we're concerned, and we really hope Corrie has some good ideas for him up its sleeves in the future. And if they don't, well we've certainly got a few they can borrow!

For this week's bonus podcast, we take an in-depth look at the character of Bev Unwin, the flirty barmaid mother of Shelley with a bit of an eye for the younger man! During her main stint in the show in the early 2000s, Bev mostly played a supporting role in her daughter's various dramas, but she's still someone who a lot of Corrie fans look back fondly on, and were pleased to see return to the show for a spell in 2015 - although the circumstances that saw her back on the cobbles were certainly not what anyone would have wanted...

Back to celebrate all things silly in Corrie over the past twelve months, it's the Bobbins Awards 2022! Now you know we're big Coronation Street fans here, but every year around this time, we do like to poke fun at our favourite show by pointing out the characters, storylines and plot points that didn't quite hit the mark. From the Weatherfield residents that made us facepalm thanks to their idiotic decisions or stupid secret keeping to the coincidences, contrivances and story developments that needed a generous amount of suspension of disbelief, The Bobbins Awards is basically just a chance for us to let of steam for two hours - we hope it's just as cathartic for you to listen to it as it was for us to record!

On our first podcast of 2023, we chat about goings on in Weatherfield during the run up to New Year, covering the episodes shown between the 28th and the 31st December (Episodes #10835 - 10839) We may have been wrong about Griff plotting something big to coincide with the New Year's Eve celebrations, but it was full steam ahead in the Stephen story, where we almost saw Corrie's latest killer claim his second victim. Dodgy CGI eyeballs aside, the final shot of Saturday's episode certainly had us excited for what's to come in this story, though we can't help but feel that Stephen's going to be loitering shadily around the Street for a little while yet.
