Pastor Tony Willis continues the Resident God series by reminding us that God living in us is better than God walking beside us. It's because of God's grace that He lives in us. Even when it feels like we have made so many mistakes that God doesn’t want us, His grace is greater than our mistakes. Pastor Tony teaches that God is looking for a habitation and we can become a dwelling place for Him through our worship and by developing His presence. What do you do after you've prayed and the answer is delayed? Answer: You do what you can see while God does what you cannot see. In the first message of the Divine Delays series, Pastor George Sawyer uses examples of the lives of people in the Bible to show how God is not slack (does not delay and is not slow) concerning His promise (2 Peter 3:9) and that we should wait on the Lord and keep His way because He will exalt us to inherit the land. (Psalm 37:34). Pastor Sawyer illustrates how delays are opportunities for us to grow up, develop, trust God, walk by faith, and be conquerors. Sometimes God's delays are purposeful. In her message, "I Am Undone," guest speaker Karen Schatzline shared the five steps to becoming undone. She explains that we believers need a habitation of Holy Spirit not a visitation. God wants to bring an all-consuming fire that melts off all that doesn’t belong in us, as He did for the prophet Isaiah. The five steps take us from frustration to transformation in God's presence. Putting God first in your heart means He’s preeminent. God is first place or no place in your life. When you put Him first, your life begins to align with Him and you will know His will and purpose for your life. Pastor George Sawyer explains the practical application and the HOW of putting God first — trusting Him, fearing Him, honoring Him and taking Him at His Word. In his first message for 2019, Pastor George Sawyer explains the 10-day church Daniel fast and the reasons for it. He encourages us to not focus on resolutions in the new year, but foundations. We can make life more difficult than it should be because we don't follow the order to life -- we must align our priorities. Scripture tells us to seek the kingdom of God, first. Pastor Sawyer explains the meaning and persistence of the words "seek" and "first" and how we can apply them as we align our priorities in the new year. In Part 3, Pastor George Sawyer teaches How God Sends Blessings Wrapped in an Enemy. God will use your enemy to guard your blessing until you're ready to receive it. He will wrap your blessing in an enemy to prepare you for greater blessings, making your enemy part of the process to receive. Did you know that you’re a miracle wrapped in an unlikely package? Often times God’s greatest gifts come wrapped in the most unlikely packages. At times God sends a blessing to us wrapped in an enemy. In his first message of the Wrapped Gifts series, Pastor George Sawyer explains how we believers have a treasure inside of us — the God of the universe and His power are inside each of us! Even though we are imperfect beings, God is not afraid of our imperfection. We may not be wise, rich, or royal, but He has still chosen to live and work in us. What is a strategy of the enemy that will wreak havoc in every area of life? Ingratitude. In the final message of the Spirit of Thanksgiving series, Pastor George Sawyer explains the dangers of ingratitude. Expounding on the list in Romans 1, he shows the results of people turning their backs on God in ungratefulness. The results range from sexual perversion to a change in the way ungrateful people think to God giving them over to their evil ways. Scripture reference: Romans 1:18-32. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. In the third part of the series, Pastor George Sawyer encourages the church to be thankful like Jesus. Although Jesus never ceased being God while He walked Earth, He limited Himself to His humanity to show that we can do the same things that He did. So how and when did Jesus give thanks? 1. In the feeding of the 5,000. 2. At the Last Supper. 3. At Lazarus's tomb. We can follow His pattern of prayer and thanksgiving: Father, here’s an impossibility but I give you thanks BEFORE the miracle. Thanksgiving holds the peace until the answer comes. After these examples of Jesus, Pastor Sawyer teaches the meanings of two Hebrew words for praise: hallal and yadah and then leads the church in a time of praise and thanksgiving. In part two of his message, Pastor George Sawyer helps the church see that the giving of thanks is at times the missing ingredient for answered prayer, bringing faith and hope in our lives, and being in God's will. 1 Thessalonians 5:18, scripture tells us that we should give God thanks in every circumstance for this is His will for us. If you're not sure what God's will is, give thanks. You KNOW that giving thanks is His will for you! An example of God's people doing this is in Psalm 126. God brought the people out of captivity with the help of an ungodly deliverer whom He has raised for the purpose of restoring the children of Israel. The scripture says that they sowed in tears and reaped with joy. So, what are you sowing? Pastor Sawyer leads the people in sowing praise and thanksgiving. Pastor George Sawyer shares that giving thanks does three things in our lives: Reveals our faith. Releases God's presence. Creates an attitude of hope. In the account from Luke 17:11-19, Jesus healed 10 lepers, but only one came back to say thank you. Pastor Sawyer explains the good things that can happen in your life when you come back. A "comeback party" occurs in John 12:1-7, when believers got together to honor Jesus. Thanksgiving changes your perspective to see God is bigger than your problem.
