Help Us, We Need a Mediator
04/11/2018 Duration: 41minWe have spent the last 11 weeks examining the Law (the 10 Commandments) that God gave to His people. After looking intently into the “perfect Law” of a “Holy God”, we surely recognize the reality that we have no righteouness of our own, no ground on which to state our case. We are guilty before God! How then shall we stand before a Holy God? This Holy God had just “laid down the Law to them.”

The 10th Commandment “Learn to be Content”
28/10/2018 Duration: 39minThis morning we bring our series on the Ten Commandments to a close. We may be surprised that God ends the commandments with one that many people feel is “benign and harmless”. Upon closer examination what we find is this: God closes the Ten Commandments with a final commandment that is the “motivating factor” to the breaking of many of the other commandments. Remember the Ten Commandments are not just “formal and physical” they are “internal and spirital”. The tenth commandment again reminds us that God is concerned with the heart and cuts to the heart of the issue. So, let us not consider this last commandment as “benign and harmless” but let us guard against the spirit and attitude of all evil desire, lust and covetousness.

9th Commandment “To Tell the Truth”
21/10/2018 Duration: 40minAs we move toward the end of our series on the Ten Commandments we come to one of the commandments that is perhaps the “most endangered” commandment in our present culture. Truth and integrity seem to be at an all time low in our society. Whether in political realm, in the political realm, the news reporting industry or life in general: truth is becoming obsolete

The 8th Commandment "Do not Steal"
14/10/2018 Duration: 38minWithout laws to protect private property. the strong would simply take from the weak. God's word demonstrates that His covenant people were not to exploit, mistreat, or abuse the poor, the stranger, the widow or the fatherless. God provided means for their care! (Lev 19:9-11)

4th Commandment “Remember the Sabbath Day"
16/09/2018 Duration: 35minWe come this morning to one of the most hotly debated of the commandments. “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it hotly”. In our New Testament setting, “when” is the Sabbath? And “how” are we to keep it holy? Two Massive Cultural Shifts: (1) The first massive cultural shift came in the 1st century as the early church moved to the first day of the week as their day of worship. The term used in the Epistles, “the Lord's Day” is in reference to Sunday not the Jewish Sabbath. (2) The massive shift in our 21st century, where Sunday was observed as a day of rest and worship, but now has become a day of commerce, convenience and personal indulgences.

3rd Commandment “Guard the Name of God”
09/09/2018 Duration: 39minTwo weeks ago, in the 2nd commandment, we learned that God is “jealous for His people”. The 3rd commandment will reveal that God “jealously guards His name”. Jesus emphasized this commandment in the opening of the Lord's Prayer (Matt. 6:9); “Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.” in our consideration of the commandments it is important that we remember certain principles of interpretation. (1) The commandments are spiritual, therefore they require that we keep them from our hearts. Outward conformity to the commandments should reflect the inward affection and attitude of the heart. (2) There is a positive action and attitude implied. (3) Each commandment goes much deeper that simply forbidding certain behavior, it is also directed at the desire or inclination to sin.

No Graven Images
26/08/2018 Duration: 39minAs we learned last week, the first four commandments deal with our “vertical” relationship, while the last six with our “horizontal” relationships. As I said last week, “order matters”. The first two commandments give direction and clarity to the issues of “worship”. Man was created to worship and man worships; the question is the object of his worship! The first commandment has to do with worshiping the “right God”, while the second commandment has to do with worshiping the right God in the “right way”. These commandments taken together teach us “Who” God is and “How” He is to be worshiped. We are commanded “no to worship false gods” nor “worship the True God in a false way”.

The God Who makes Himself Known
12/08/2018 Duration: 40minThe giving of the Law at Mt. Sinai is one of the most significant events in the history of the nation of Israel, if not all of Western Civilization. For the next 11 weeks, we will seek to discover the nature and character of God as we seek to know His commandments and guidelines. The Sinai experience will be shared from Exodus 19:1 – Numbers 10:11.

Redeemed People Worship a Holy God
05/08/2018 Duration: 44minThe mountains often remind us of the majesty and glory of our Creator God, and many are the great mountaintop experiences in the Bible. Mt. Sinai was the Divine destination, preplanned and ordained by God; (Exodus 3:12). The remaining chapters of Exodus (spanning about 11 months) will take place here at the foot of the holy mountain. Here the people will be given the Laws of God and instructed in the worship of God. Remember, God is building a congregation of worshipers!

Equipping and Sharing the Ministry
29/07/2018 Duration: 36minJethro's visit (recorded in chapter 18) resulted in two very significant events; Jethro's conversion to Yahweh and his counsel to Moses results in organization, delegation and shared ministry. These two things demonstrate to us that God desires the salvation of the nations, and that He is able to use them to speak into the lives of others. Jethro's counsel reminds us that often someone from the outside can see clearly to correct something that those within cannot see. There is wisdom in Jethro's words! Let's examine the historical context and then seek to make application to today's church.

The God Who Leads Those He Redeems
17/06/2018 Duration: 32minRegardless of what many may believe, salvation is not the end, it is the beginning of the journey. The Passover that we examined last Sunday was clearly a beautiful picture of deliverance from sin that every believer has experienced. However, the Passover wasn't the end of the story. It was the beginning of the journey to the promises of the covenant! Exodus 1-13 is the glorious record of how the Lord came down to redeem his people from bondage and deliver them from slavery. Exodus 13-18 is the record of how the Lord went with His people on their pilgrimage. These two together are a beautiful picture of the Christian experience; we are redeemed pilgrims!
