Jethro's visit (recorded in chapter 18) resulted in two very significant events; Jethro's conversion to Yahweh and his counsel to Moses results in organization, delegation and shared ministry. These two things demonstrate to us that God desires the salvation of the nations, and that He is able to use them to speak into the lives of others. Jethro's counsel reminds us that often someone from the outside can see clearly to correct something that those within cannot see. There is wisdom in Jethro's words! Let's examine the historical context and then seek to make application to today's church.
