Deep House / Melodic Techno / Emotional Robot / Breaks.   After watching lots of video mixes on YouTube recently by the likes of DJ Boring and Kilimanjaro (check out their Boiler Room sets by the way), I got inspiration to get creative and use the effects and other channels more and to cut up tracks and do some samples. We don't always have to do missionary do we?! It's nice to experiment and add a bit more flavour to the mix. Deep House / Melodic Techno / Emotional Robot / Breaks.   After Emotional Robot parts 1 & 2, this mix took me 3 months to sit and stew over the tracklist. I've been listening to dozens of mixes trying to find the best tunes for part 3. There are a fair few Sasha and Lee Burridge tunes from their last 5 or 6 mixes. I've also added a bit of Bicep flavour to it in the middle and gone for some breaks and much faster dnb. In fact, there are quite a lot of tempo / bpm ranges in this one. Some amazing tunes. Following up on part 1 of the Emotional Robot series, which got into the top charts on Mixcloud for deep house, electronica and deep tech house, here is part 2. This one continues the journey through lockdown tunes. The story continues with our robot protagonist assimilating into the human condition and learning to understand and deal with emotions of sadness and longing. Or at least that's what comes to my mind after putting this mix together. It's a little bit more on the emotive side but with some driving tech house rhythms. Highlights include Charles Webster's beautiful live mix of Love Song 28 and Kolsch and Beacon's Pause. Both tracks featured on a more melodic downtempo Last Night on Earth podcast by Sasha. I think they fit right in here with some of the more driving tech house tracks. The first track 'Sherbert Head' by Boards of Canada I wanted to start with because it's like tuning in to a station before progressing with the mix. Deep Melodic Techno/House/Electronica This is the first studio mix I've recorded on the Denon DJ Prime 4. It's part of a trilogy series inspired by tracks I've collected since the start of COVID. The tracks are part of a playlist called 'lockdown tunes' and they've been inspired by some of my favourite DJs and artists, especially for this part 1 in the series, Roy Rosenfeld. He features heavily on here with his dreamy melodic tech house. There's something of a middle Eastern vibe going on with this tracklist due in part to Roy but also Sebastian Leger's Lanarka. A big shout out to Lee Burridge as well. This is my take on his mixing style and although not as smooth as Lee I'm happy with the results. There are some amazing tracks on here. Give it a listen. Electronica/Tech House/Deep House/Soundtrack.   This is a live studio mix of some of the fun tunes I've enjoyed playing in the latter half of 2019. I've gotta thank the Polish Rastafarian Jacob, Graeme's pal, for tracks 2-4. He played them at Resurrection Spirits and I loved them but the recording of his mix was shite so I brought them together somewhat for this mix. The rest is inspired a lot by Sentre, who have been producing some amazing tracks and Sasha's Last Night on Earth podcast and label. Some great tracks on here. One iffy mix in there but left it in for posterity's sake ;-) Which one is it? Also, keep an ear out for the movie samples in there. Can you name them? There are about a dozen. I really wanted to bring you all of Graeme Jon's set along with these segments (it's about 4 hours in total) but we had some issues with the recording from his DJ system into our main one. Anyhow, check out the earlier mixes for Graeme's amazing tracks and mixing style. For this one, you're stuck with me, although I think there are a couple of guest mixes/tracks by Graeme hidden in here that didn't sound like the levels were blown. Hope you like it. Funky House/Disco House/Deep House/Tech House.   Okay we're back with our main style... Live at Mixology @ Resurrection Spirits in East Vancouver. This one is house all the way but with a variety of different styles and a nice little 3 hour build-up in intensity and depth. Graeme's at it for the first section then I take over, then back to Graeme, and then me. To me to you to me to you! If you get that reference, there's something wrong with you. Anyhow I don't have a list of Graeme's tracks so I'm gonna publish these monster 3 hour sets without a tracklist from now on. If you hear anything you like or recognize, give us a comment. Oh! Old School Pop/Rock/Hip Hop/Funk/Soul/House.   This one's all over the place in terms of styles... It's a recording of a live party mix for Matt & Mel's wedding reception guests... And it's pretty solid in terms of execution apart from having to deal with a few drunken guests attacking the DJ booth (Volvo Tom & Steve O'Neill) but these bits add to the flavour... Deep House/Tech House/Melodic Techno.   This month's mix is dedicated to the person I stole 4 of these tracks off their playlist from... My DJ partner-in-crime, Graeme Jon. They're up there with the best tracks on this mix: The amazing remix by French duo Aeroplane of Lindstrom & Christabelle, the astounding Mark Knight remix of Dido, Cercle's vocal remix of Rodriguez Jr, and finally Monkey Safari's Sturm... There's a storm brewing indeed! I also love the Sasha remix of Baile on this one. He's proving he's got it not just as a DJ. Some of his latest produced tracks and collaborations are great, including the one with Dems towards the end of this mix. I also love the Green Velvet kick drum and vocals on 'What you talking about...' Deceiver... There are nearly 2 hours of strutting bass and deep spaced funk. Deep Electronica/Disco House/Trip Hop.   This is a cheeky homage to yes, you guessed it... The Late Night Tales music compilations. What I loved about these is that they are a homage to the history of the chosen DJ or artist's musical tastes. Kinda like a musical story of where they came from and which tracks stood out along the journey. I also like that they are not really meant for the dance-floor and are quite eclectic. I loved the Air and Jamiroquai ones. You might recognize the odd track in this mix. I put together my own version that was based around a history of deep electronic music - a tour from Detroit to Chicago to Warp Records with some disco house thrown in. There are a lot of other cities represented like New York, Bristol, Paris, Sheffield, Leicester... The natural place to start was with a few Larry Heard type tracks. This was how the tracklisting evolved and I recently played this out at Resurrection Spirits in East Vancouver and recorded the live mix then put it through my sound optimization

Deep House/Tech House/Melodic Techno.   This is more of what I like... Starts off deep and builds and builds... I like that I get to put two remixes by Andre Lodemann in here. Very underrated. Also, the Patrick Topping tunes steal the show. It also has some old school, some bangers and gets progressively more techy and bass-heavy. Goes down perfectly with a lemon ginger smash from Resurrection Spirits in East Vancouver.
