Well Said: Creating a more diverse legislature

Informações:

Synopsis

With the high price of running for elected office and the costs of living in a capital city, being a politician isn't cheap. For blue-collar workers who may be living off hourly wages, those high costs — combined with income lost while in legislative session — could keep them from running for political office at all. Could paying politicians higher salaries encourage more blue-collar workers to run for office and create a more economically diverse legislature that more accurately represents the population? In this week's episode, doctoral candidate in political science Eric Hansen weighs in on that question.
