    27/01/2020 Duration: 01h55min

Unfunny Nerd Tangent Journal: January, 2020… Who watches the Watchmen? We watched the Watchmen, as in the new HBO television series… uh, Watchmen. Have we said Watchmen enough yet? Okay, cool. Anyway, listen as Greig admits he was 100% WRONG about Damon Lindelof (on this occasion), Jared finds a way to overcome his tin foil mask obsession, and Tim comes to grips with his big, blue… Tick? **cough** shameless Episode 43 plug **cough**. Like we said, we watched Watchmen and had plenty to say about it, so check out UNT 91 before you end up stranded on a moon of Jupiter, trapped as a gold statue or, well… ‘egged’. • UNT 90: Star Wars Super Show - The Rise Of Skywalker / The Mandalorian

    16/01/2020 Duration: 02h12min

Love it or hate it, it's a very interesting time to be a Star Wars fan. With both a new movie and a television series recently released, there's plenty to talk about. So we did; getting together with our usual hive of scum and villainy to discuss The Rise of Skywalker AND The Mandalorian. Special Guest, Emily Parker from Austin City Limits Radio returns from the other side of the Force to help our crew of Nerf Herders rant about everything that went right (and wrong) with the latest two entries into the Star Wars universe. Not to mention, the perils of choosing the perfect surname. There are no death fake-outs here, just pure, unadulterated nerd-speak that can ultimately be summed up with three simple words... "They fly now." Whoops, sorry. We meant, "This is the way..." Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovotz (@Superjew75), 'All of the Sith' Tim Agne (@timagne), 'Mayor of Reseda' Derek Montilla (@cap_kaveman) & 'Mary Sue' Joshua Schlag (@theSteelCage)

  • UNT 89: Return Of The Walking Dead

    10/01/2020 Duration: 01h39min

Unfunny Nerd Tangent returns for the New Year by delving back into that zombie show you all know and love... The Walking Dead. That's right, the two remaining people on the planet still watching got together to discuss the ramifications of the world we last visited way back on Episode 10 of our show, while finally diving into the comics for one last read. Rick, Negan, Alpha, the Whisperers and oh yes... the pikes... all get a mention as we walk (like a corpse) down memory lane and revisit a show and comic series that helped change the landscape of entertainment forever. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13) and featuring 'Mayor of Reseda' Derek Montilla (@cap_kaveman). Music by: Bear McCreary & Johnnie Davis.

  • UNT 88: Jingle All The Way

    16/12/2019 Duration: 01h02min

Welcome back to the Festive Season, where, in the true spirit of the American Christmas tradition, an Australian bloke and a Jewish guy sit down to talk about The Smash Hit Holiday Classic: Jingle All the Way! Greig and Jared dive into yet another cheesy holiday movie to dissect its effect on Christmas, holiday movies in general, what can be seen as the 'low point' of Arnold Schwarzenegger's career (thankfully Batman & Robin came next), and its scarily-accurate prediction about the legacy of Jar Jar Binks. We shared egg-nog, collector OCD stories and even punched a reindeer, all the while Jared explained the origin story of 'Jewish Santa'. After 20 years, Jingle All the Way still divides audiences, but to hear what we think of it, check out UNT 88. Happy Holidays! Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). And Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by: Bobby Helms & Brian Setzer.

  • UNT 87: Terminator: Dark Fate

    18/11/2019 Duration: 01h07min

Unfunny Nerd Tangent returns (from the future) with a new episode – this time, a 2-man podcast, dedicated to Terminator: Dark Fate. Greig and Jared sat down to discuss the latest entry into the wayward franchise, the involvement of James Cameron, the future of CGI acting, as well as the return of Linda Hamilton to the role of Sarah Connor. So check it out. Because at the very least... it’s better than Genisys. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). And Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by: Junkie XL & Brad Fiedel.

  • UNT 86: Joker

    13/10/2019 Duration: 01h38min

Ha-ha-ha… Leave it to the Clown Prince of Crime to create chaos. Whether in comic books, the silver screen, the current media frenzy or yes, even our own podcast - Batman’s nemesis certainly riles up even the most tranquil folks. And that’s exactly what happened when we sat down to discuss the new DC film from Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix: Joker. Ho-Ho-Hee-Hee… Witness an old-fashioned 2-on-2 Tag-Team match, when Team USA (Tim & Jared) take on The Commonwealth (Greig & Mike) as they get fired up like never before about this clearly-polarizing movie. Is it an unmitigated disaster or a cinematic masterpiece? You decide! Tee-Hee-Hee! Smile, cry, cheer or jeer, but no matter what, when you listen to this latest feisty episode, you'll get what you f***in’ deserve! Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75), 'Mayor of Gotham' Tim Agne (@timagne) and Mike DiPasquale (@MapleSyrupDick). Music by: Jimmy Durante & Frank Sinatra.

  • UNT 85: The Boys

    30/09/2019 Duration: 01h16min

Flight. Super-strength. Invisibility. Politics and murder. The best superpowers ever. Wait, what were those last two again? Oh. Anyway... Amazon's new superhero series, The Boys certainly delivers all this and more. Which means, of course we needed to take it on some Unfunny Nerd Tangents, right? Diabolical! Jared and Tim make their long-awaited return to help Greig break down the new show from Amazon, and despite their many opinions on The Tick, manage to dissect and discuss what a real satire should look like. Although, is it a satire? You decide. In the end, we took a close look at Homelander, The Deep, Starlight and the rest of The Seven, not to mention, the titular Boys and their outrageous leader... Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), an actor all of us can STAN behind. (C-bombs permitting.) So shave your head, give a dolphin a ride and stop by the deli for some lobster, because this episode is nothing short than ... super. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared R

  • UNT 84: Metallica

    09/09/2019 Duration: 02h52min

When looking to point our Unfunny Nerd Tangents away from Hollywood for once, who better to talk about than the biggest metal band of all time? Exactly. This episode is all about… Metallica. Greig and Bryan (yes, Bryan) finally bring together a podcast almost three years in the making, to talk about their favorite band, alongside special guests Mike Seibert (from the Mike Siebert Radio Show) and Caleb Carter (from the Autopod Decepticast). Together, these Four Horsemen dive deep into Metallica’s back catalogue, their golden age of commercial success despite a very personal tragedy, the Napster controversy, what seems to be a never-ending roster of bass players, as well as wondering if the theory about that tour with Guns N Roses (effectively ending Axl Rose’s career) is actually true. Sad But True. So if you’re the one For Whom the Bell Tolls, make sure you have No Remorse, Jump in the Fire and be ready to Ride the Lightning and dive into this epic edition of Unfunny Nerd Tangent. Because Nothing Else Matter

  • UNT 83: GLOW Season 3

    02/09/2019 Duration: 01h14min

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas... unless you want to talk about GLOW Season 3. Tim, Jared and Greig return to the world of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling to discuss Netflix’s latest offering, putting the actual wrestling aside to break down the myriad of interesting character moments this year had to offer. Bash, Sheila, Justine and of course, Ruth, Debbie and Sam; everyone got some meaty, Challenger-sized plotlines this season. And we dived in, turnbuckle-first to each and every one of them. Also, Geena Davis. ‘Nuff said. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75) & 'Ageing Showgirl' Tim Agne (@timagne). Music by: Roxette.

  • UNT 82: Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

    19/08/2019 Duration: 01h20min

Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, has been released and to say it has divided audiences is an understatement. But what did we think of it? We welcome G1 from the Mat Mania Podcast (and managed to get Darrell for two episodes in a row) to talk all things Tarantino, including all of his usual tropes, his love of feet and violence, and how this movie fits into the alternate world history his films have created. If you’re the Devil and you’re here to do the Devil’s business, then check out UNT 82 before history resets faster than a Timothy Olyphant jump-cut. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75), 'Beast From the Middle East' Darrell Johnson (@zazzumplop), Foz (@havoksmane) and G1 (@g1totherescue / @MatManiaPodcast). Music by: Neil Diamond & Jim Lowe.

  • UNT 81: Stranger Things 3

    29/07/2019 Duration: 01h51min

After a long break, we here at Unfunny Nerd Tangent are excited to welcome back… Darrell! That’s right, the Beast from the Middle East returns with newcomer, Foz, to help dissect the latest season of nostalgic television from the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things 3. Among other things, we dive deep into the season, which then spun us into several inter-dimensional tangents; including Bryan’s disdain for Ready Player One (episode 44 by the way), Yakov Smirnoff, Derek’s love of Harrison Ford, why Mike deserved an old-fashioned 80s backhand (even though his mom is still the hottest), and the multiple theories surrounding Hopper’s fate. Not to mention, Greig blows out his intro muscle and we preview the newest show coming soon to the Steel Cage Podcast Network: “Derek and Tim Eat Prison Snacks”. How many of our Stranger Things 3 predictions came true? Most of them… kind of. To find out how exactly, check out this nostalgic episode as we get the band back together and return to Hawkins, Indiana for another ‘Upside

  • UNT 80: Spider-Man: Far From Home

    15/07/2019 Duration: 01h42min

Where does the Marvel Cinematic Universe go after the exhilarating events of Avengers: Endgame? To a would-be ‘epilogue’ with everyone’s favorite neighborhood web-slinger in Spider-Man: Far From Home, of course! Still yearning for Aunt May, our dedicated team of Unfunny Nerds blipped back to sit down with a laid-back Canadian and the world’s angriest Transformers fan, to discuss the final entry into Phase 3 of the MCU, wrapping up the Infinity Saga and building things to come for the future of Marvel movies. Just like J. Jonah Jameson, UNT remains a universal constant; funnier than Flash Thompson, smarter than Happy Hogan and more heroic than Mysterio. Wait…never mind. Anyway, be sure to check out our latest tangent-filled episode, in which we spend far too much time on the Snap Vs the Blip, delve into the mystery of Nick Fury suddenly being a little green around the gills, question the legitimacy of fishbowl helmets, and blame all our troubles on witches. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@Greig

  • UNT 79: The Toy Story Series

    01/07/2019 Duration: 01h40min

Are you a Space Ranger, lost on an unknown world with no signs of intelligent life? Or are you a pull-string cowboy sheriff looking out for all those around you, frustrated by life’s hurdles and that ever-elusive shepherdess? Than we have the podcast for you, as we sat down to discuss all things Toy Story. While Greig shakes off the dust bunnies, Jared and Tim look back at their childhood (and Tim’s very own Julius Caesar moment) to a simpler time when CGI family movies were still awe-inspiring and amazing. Who are we kidding? The Toy Story Series continues to be all those things and more, even if we got a sequel that (maybe) we didn’t need. Either way, join us in the trash bin and check out Unfunny Nerd Tangent 79: The Toy Story Series. Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: ‘Garbage Truck’ Tim Agne (@timagne) & 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by: Randy Newman & Sex Bob-Omb.

  • UNT 78: X-Men Dark Phoenix

    24/06/2019 Duration: 01h22min

What can we say about X-Men: Dark Phoenix? Did it X-Cite us? X-Cillerate us or X-Ceed our X-Pectations? Or did it mostly just X-Pel the last breath of a once X-Emplary comic book movie series, leaving us X-Hausted? X-Actly. In this instance, X most certainly did not mark the spot, leaving our trio of Unfunny Mutants a little disenfranchised, but not quite as disenfranchised as 20th Century Fox is about to be. How will the MCU handle the X-Men and the (ahem) New Mutants in the future? We’ll just have to wait and see, but in the mean time, as we reviewed what is most-likely the actual Last Stand, we managed to find ourselves falling down that rabbit hole in the backyard of Xavier’s School For the Gifted and pondered the future of the X-Men, before stopping off at the Dark Knight Rises cafe for a coffee and a cupcake (the size of a tangerine). Hosted by: 'Captain Boomerang' Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: ‘He Cries with his Claws’ Tim Agne (@timagne) & 'SuperJew' Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by:

  • UNT 77: Game Of Thrones

    10/06/2019 Duration: 01h57min

“The night is dark and full of terrors”, and so is Unfunny Nerd Tangent 77: Game of Thrones. The biggest television show ever has wrapped up, and opinions are divided. Many fans walked away happy, while many more (it seems) remain the opposite. So what else could we do but gather an eclectic collection of folk from all over the realm to reminisce, nitpick and on occasion rewrite this epic fantasy series. Yes, there are dragons, zombies and people who come back to life, but none of that can hold a Dothraki candle to six unfunny nerds and their fandom. So check it out. Because Winter is Coming. Hosted by: ‘Only in the Books’ Tim Agne (@timagne). Featuring: ‘The Hound’ Greig Tansley (@GreigT13), ‘Giantsbane’ Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75), ‘Hand of the King’ Yoshi (@yousephtanha) & ‘A Girl Has No Name’ Flo (@glitbiter). Special Guest: ‘Protector of the Realm’ Mega Ran (@MegaRan). Music by: Ramin Djawadi & Jack Black.

  • UNT 76: The John Wick Series

    20/05/2019 Duration: 01h02min

A film series based on revenge, murder, secret societies and... puppies? Yep. So gas up your Mustang and break through the concrete in your basement, because it’s time to talk about John Wick. With the third movie of this Keanu Reeves film trilogy (so far) in theatres, intrepid UNT assassins, Jared and Tim presented their marker to Greig and made him binge all three films in a week, and in the same time, John Wick killed a lot of people. But since these movies are more than meets the eye, the twists and turns created some unique UNT-inspired questions of our own, such as... Is this some kind of Matrix prequel? Was Ms. Perkins almost Wonder Woman in a Boston Legal / The Practice universe? And is John Wick really just an aged Johnny Utah from Point Break? Think about it. You won’t have to break the rules of the Continental to enjoy our latest tangent-filled show, so grab a good book (good enough to take out an enormous NBA star), sew up those wounds, put some ice on that bruise, and enjoy Episode 76: The John W

  • UNT 75: Avengers: Endgame

    06/05/2019 Duration: 02h33min

Avengers: Endgame is finally here, and we made sure we did whatever it takes to bring you the best podcast we could. And if we failed, well, we’ll just go back in time and fix it. As we brought together a cavalcade of unlikely movie reviewers, spanning the cosmos and reality, itself, we broke down the incredible characters and the mind-bending plot of this latest film, as well as stopping along the way to go down some dark, parallel tangents of our own. Even Howard the Duck turned up at one point. (You heard me.) This one is nothing if not epic, so make sure you’ve got your tissues ready for a Happy Ending (no, not that kind), eat a salad and relax in your Thanos-Man-Cave, as we present UNT 75: Avengers: Endgame. NOTE: No raccoons were harmed in the making of this podcast. Hosted by: ‘Captain Beers-in-the-Bucket, Bro’ Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: ‘The Inevitable SuperJew’ Jared Robinovitz (@Superjew75), ‘Professor Hulk’ Tim Agne (@timagne), ‘America’s Ass’ Mateo Morales (@matt_morales), ‘Culinary Ge

  • UNT 74: Shazam!

    15/04/2019 Duration: 01h18min

If you’re as Unfunny as Ulysses, as Nerdy as Neptune and as Tangential as Tartarus, then episode 74 is perfect for you! Join us as we remain pure of heart and evoke the powers of Shazam! (The movie, at least.) On this episode, we delve into the Captain Marvel / Shazam naming controversy as well as ponder the similarities of a certain Eternian hero, before diving staff-first into the latest DC superhero film that isn't afraid to be fun. Billy, Freddy, Mary, Darla, Pedro and Eugene all combined their powers to make this show as legendary as the (missing) Black Adam, so make sure you take a break from jacking cop cars to check it out. Also, there may or may not be caterpillars. Lightning never strikes twice, so just say the word and bring your whole (foster) family to the table with UNT 74: Shazam! Hosted by: ‘Captain Boomerang’ Greig Tansley (@GreigT13). Featuring: ‘Black Adam’ Tim Agne (@timagne) & ‘SuperJew’ Jared Robinovitz (@SuperJew75). Music by: Survivor & Queen.

  • UNT 73: The Umbrella Academy

    01/04/2019 Duration: 01h37min

Do you have the super-strength and the body of a gorilla? Can you throw a knife with expert precision? Maybe you’ve heard a rumor or can speak to the dead or maybe your body contains hideous, tentacled creatures? Or perhaps you can simply teleport (sometimes through time) and are now trapped in the thirteen-year-old body of your former self. If any of that made sense to you, you’re probably familiar with The Umbrella Academy, the latest superhero/black comedy from Netflix. Tasked by their billionaire-industrialist adoptive father, robotic mother and chimpanzee mentor, our trio of UNT-brella Academy members broke down the season, speculated on the future (and quite literally, the past) of its inaugural season and tried to make sense of one of the most unique shows in recent television history. So don’t deprive some village of their idiot, check out UNT 73 before you hear a certain rumor about violins. Hosted by: ‘Sir Reginald’ Greig Tansley (@GreigT13).Featuring: ‘Space-Boy’ Tim Agne (@timagne) & ‘The Horror’ J
