Purification of the soul (S2) The messenger ﷺ: “The People who backbite, taunt, mock, tell tales and find fault with the innocent, will be risen as dogs on the Day of Judgement!”. Thus it is crucial - one must avoid lying at all costs in order to purify their souls. Serve others! For our messenger ﷺ said: “" Allah ﷻ does not cease to attend to His servants needs, as long as the servant attends to his brothers needs". By serving your brothers and sisters in times of need, you are protected from an evil death. Our messenger ﷺ said: “ If one helps his brother, then Allah ﷻ will make his feet firm on the Day Where even mountains will Perish!". Purification of the soul (S1) Surah [79:40-41]: “ But as for him who and Fears the Standing before his Lord (ﷻ ), and who reigns in his lust, Paradise is Surely his abode". Purifying one’s soul is of utmost significance - one cannot enjoy the true fruits of revelation without it. What is purification of the soul? The messenger ﷺ said: “It is that you realise that Allah ﷻ is with you, wherever you are". Our messenger ﷺ: “The best iman is that you realise that Allah ﷻ is with you, wherever you are”. Samura Ibn Jundub (رضي الله عنه): “Whoever wants to see Shaytaans authority over himself, Should see how he acts In private!". Jihad of the Nafs - purifying your soul - is the greatest jihad, ranking one even above Martyrs, for jihad on the battlefield is temporary, whilst conquering your nafs lasts your entire life time!

Family (S2) The messenger ﷺ: “Name your children after good people”. He (ﷺ) instructed a companion رضي الله عنه to name his son ‘Hamza’. Hamza رضي الله عنه was the messengers’s most beloved uncle. Talha رضي الله عنه named his sons after prophets (a.s) [Muhammad, Ibraaheem, Musa], Zubayr رضي الله عنه named his sons after martyrs: [Urwa, Abdullah, Hamza]. Your name has an effect on who you are! Saeed Ibn al-Musayib’s (r.h) [the most learned of the Tabi’een] grandfather had a negative name, meaning: “grief“. Saeed said due to this he himself had a flaw in his character! The messenger ﷺ instructed us to name foetuses in miscarriages; for they will be heavy on the scales on the Day of judgment! The messenger ﷺ: “Do not name your children after angels (a.s)”. If one has name with bad meaning, he or she must strive to change it immediately - as the messenger ﷺ did. He ﷺ once met an elderly woman whose name meant ‘Nightmare’. He ﷺ told her to change it immediately.

Family (S1) Parents: 2 sins are immediately punished for in this world: Oppression, and disobedience to one’s parents. The messenger ﷺ: “Verily, I ﷺ requested Allah (ﷻ) not to accept the du’a of a beloved against their beloved.” (Here, du’a refers to a curse. In anger, a parent may curse their child — it is this curse that the Prophet ﷺ sought to intercede against so it would not take effect.) The messenger ﷺ: “Deliberation is from Allah ﷻ, haste is from Shaytaan” Surah [21:37]: “Man is a creature of haste” It is in our nature to slack in our commitment. To rush things - this is from Shaytaan. Doing things cautiously is in line with the teachings of all the Prophets (a.s). “The dua of the father reaches the veil” Anas رضي الله عنه stated: “ The dua of a parent for their child is similar to the Dua of a prophet!”. “May his nose be rubbed in dust (disgraced), whoever reaches their parents in old age and still they did not be the cause of him or her entering paradise”.

The Haramains (S2) Our grandfather, Adam (a.s), is buried under mount Abu Qubais. Some erroneously claim that when Adam (a.s) and Hawwa (r.a) were told to leave Paradise, it was a disgrace. However, they were honourably removed by Jibraaeel and Mikaeel! (A.s) Jibraaeel removed Adam’s crown, and Mikaaeel removed Adam’s mace (a.s) - description of a king! Adam (a.s) was a genius! Hasan Al Basri r.h: “ Adam (a.s) had the intelligence of all his children combined”. Jannatul Baqee: The Messenger ﷺ supplicated for the residents of Baqee in plethora. 70,000 of Baqee will enter Paradise with no accountability - they will then intercede for 70,000 people further! (4.9 Billion). Love the inhabitants of Baqee, so that they may intercede for you!

The sacred Harams (S1) The sacred haram had an effect even on the noble prophets (a.s): When the messenger ﷺ reached Hudaybeeyah to perform the umrah, his camel stopped. “She has been made to stop by The One Who caused the elephant to stop! The haram (I.e. Makkah) is heavy upon her, and heavy upon me”. The noble prophet and ancient grandfather of our messenger ﷺ, Ismaaeel (a.s) once complained to Allah ﷻ about the heat of Makkah. Allah ﷻ revealed: “I will open a door of paradise in your grave, which will blow cool air onto you until Qiyamah”. Ibn Abaas رضي الله عنه: “Whoever bears the heat of Makkah for 1 hour, Allah ﷻ keeps him away from the hellfire the distance of 70 autumns”. Makkah being a desert is a mercy: were it to be a beautiful oasis, people would travel ignorantly for reasons other than pilgrimage! Our beloved messenger ﷺ in the auspicious Makkan days would align the Kabah to masjid al aqsa, the original Kiblah. He would do this by standing between the Yemeni corner and the black stone!

Salah (S3) 3 things Allah ﷻ dislikes for us: Frivolity in Salah, obscenity whilst fasting and laughing at graves. Umar al-Farooq رضي الله عنه once slightly delayed maghrib due to his responsibilities as the Ameer Ul-Mumineen… he grieved over this so much that he freed 2 slaves! Abdullah Ibn Masud رضي الله عنه had the recitation of Jibraaeel (ﷺ), yet never showed it off to the people and kept it private in tahajjud. By sleeping in wudhu, Abu Dardar رضي الله عنه says your soul will prostrate near the Arsh! The messenger ﷺ: “Salah is half of imaan!”

Salah (S2) Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: “Salah is an intimacy. Sadaqah is a sacrifice. Fasting is a shield.” “When one goes to meet a leader, he presents a gift to curry favour” such is the case when we stand before Allah ﷻ in Salah! Allah ﷻ says in Surah Muminoon, verse 2: “Those who are within their Salah, humble.” Ammar Ibn Yasir رضي الله عنهم uncharacteristically prayed 2 short Rakats; when asked why he replied: “to ensure there was no forgetfulness.” Muslim Ibn Yasar (r.h) never turned in prayer - even when the corner of the masjid collapsed, which startled the whole market place! Where are our minds during Salah…? “Woe to mutafifeen” (the ones who don’t give in full measure/ the defrauders) for them is a valley in the Hellfire! Salman al-Farisi رضي الله عنه: “Salah is a weighing scale – whoever fills it will be rewarded in full, and whoever makes light of it - you know what Allah ﷻ has said about the mutafifeen

Salah (S1) The Messenger ﷺ said: “Anyone who checks their sandals/socks before entering the masjid (for filth), the angels (AS) say: ‘You purified yourself, now Paradise has purified itself for you! Enter peacefully.’” The Messenger ﷺ said: “2 rakats before sitting are the rights of the masjid”. Tahiyyatul Masjid means: The greeting of the masjid. In reality, a greeting to Allah ﷻ The Messenger ﷺ said: “No servant stands in Salah, except the Earth beautifies itself for him.” The Messenger ﷺ said: “Any piece of land which is prayed on, boasts to the other pieces that it has been prayed on!” The Earth will testify to the good and bad that was done on her. Seeking Sacred Knowledge What an excellent gift! What an excellent present a word of wisdom is! A Muslim hears it, he then wraps it up to gift it to his brother (Musnad). There is no Sadaqah (charity) like knowledge that is spread (Tabarani). The best Sadaqah is that a Muslim learns knowledge and then teaches it to his Muslim brother (Targeeb). Partake of garlic for it has a cure for over 70 ailments (Musnad).

Seeking Sacred Knowledge The Messenger ﷺ spoke in a focused and precise manner - whereas you people talk in a haphazard way (Musnad). Every orator who gives a sermon will have the sermon presented before him on the Day of Rising (Abu Nuay).

Seeking Sacred Knowledge Verily, a good deed leaves a radiance in the face, a light in the heart, causes the expansion of sustenance, strength of the body and love in the hearts of the created beings. A Sin, on the other hand, leaves darkness on the face, estrangement in the heart, weakness in the body, causes harm to ones sustenance and detestation in the hearts of created beings (Haafiz Ibn Qay'veem [rah]).

The virtue of knowledge is greater than worship (Baihaqi). The best worship is seeking knowledge (Tabarani). Spreading knowledge and teaching it are amongst, the best works of goodness and I am satisfied with what Allah SWT has opened for me (ie of this most priceless of deeds) Al Tamheed.

The Messenger ﷺ used to prefer silent Zhikr which could not be heard even by the guardian (Angels [as]), as being 70 times superior (ie to the loud Zhikr). Any servant who lays his head down on his bed and remembers Allah (SWT) Most High will then be written as remembering (ie Allah [SWT]) until he awakes - whenever he awakens (Ibn Al Mubarak). "O Allah (SWT), exalt Muhammad ﷺ, Your servant and Messenger ﷺ and exalt the Believers, men and women - and the Muslims, men and women (Ibn Hibaan). Much Zhikrullaah and Salaatun Nabee ﷺ banishes poverty ( Ithaaf). Send Salaah upon me ﷺ, for this is a Zakaah for you (Ahmad). Whoever desires to be given a full reward when invoking Blessings upon my household should recite, O Allah (SWT), exalt Muhammad ﷺ the Prophet, his Wives the Mothers of the Believers, his offspring and the people of his Household - as You exalted Ibraaheem (A.S.) -truly You are the Praiseworthy, Majestic (Abo Dawood). Shaytaan comes to a person when he is ready to sleep and then makes him fall asleep before he finishes (ie or even starts) his Zhikr (Tirmidhi). The doors of acceptance are opened for the person who has been granted the ability to make du' aa, (Al Munsanaf). "The doors of Paradise are opened for the one who makes du'aa (Haakim). "There is nothing of greater value and esteem in the sight of Allah (SWT) than du'aa (Tirmidhi). The right measure of supplication compared to one's righteous conduct (ie deeds) should be (just) like the right quantity of salı that is put in one's food (Al-Musanaf).

Allah (SWT) is "'Kareeman" (The Abundant, Most Generous easily accessible Giver of endless good) and He (SWT) loves the generous people (Ibn Asaakir). Mankind gives Sadaqah only after dodging 70 devils (Ahmad).

Sadaqa - charity protects your children! Indeed, Allah (SWT) tends to a single date or morsel from you until it grows, just as you tend to your foal or young camel until it grows. (Ahmad, Musnad). Verily, if Allah (SWT) Honoured and Glorified be He, wants to turn something small into something great, He (SWT) can do so. And if He (SWT), wants to turn something great into something small, He (SWT) can do so, (Imam Suyootee [rah] in his Ad Durr Al-Manthoor). A servant does not give a good charity except that Allah (SWT) leaves a good successor for his legacy. (Haafiz Husayn ibn Harb as-Sulamee, Birr). Similarly, The Messenger ﷺ had said, A servant does not excel in charity but that Allah (SWT) then bestows Blessings upon his progeny. (Musnad). The reappearance of a slaughtered Goat (Rowdul Rayyaheen).

Priceless Zikr (10). The unbelievable happiness that Allah (swt) feels when you repent from just 1 of your sins! A priceless Zikr which forgives even the sin of fleeing from battle!
