al-Mugheera ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S57) When Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه was previously governor of Kufa, he conquered Tabristan, Jarjaan and settled the uprising in Azerbaijan. He was known for his incredible strength and bravery. Just as one searches for the new moon in Ramadan, people would search for Sa’eed on the battlefield to witness his show. He رضي الله عنه was extremely generous. A man had 4 blood moneys that needed paying, 4 people were suggested; Hasan Ibn Ali, Abdullah Ibn Jafar, Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas and Ubaydallah Ibn Abaas رضي الله عنهم. A man once wept when Sa’eed رضي الله عنه helped him. The man said: “Where will I find a man like you on Earth after your passing?”. Sa’eed رضي الله عنه would put himself in debt just to aid others. Our Messenger ﷺ said whoever is in a [lawful] debt, then Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى is with you. Indeed, Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى was with Sa’eed. al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه (S56) A now elderly Mugheera asks Ameer Muawiya رضي الله عنهم if he can be removed from his post in Kufa - Muawiya originally didn’t want to remove him but upon seeing the aged physical condition of Mugheera, he decided to relieve him from the post. Muawiya رضي الله عنه wanted the replacement to be Sa’eed Ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه - a brief overview of this elite companion: He was first cousins with Ameer ul Mumineen Uthman Ibn Affan رضي الله عنه. He was a descendant of Abd Manaf. He was of the most eloquent amongst the Quraysh, his speech matching The Messenger’s ﷺ himself! Sa’eed رضي الله عنه was extremely righteous and Mugheera رضي الله عنه didn’t want him to have to deal with the Kufans - so Mugheera رضي الله عنه asked Yazeed Ibn Muawiya to ask his father if he should succeed. This silences those who claim Muawiya رضي الله عنه wanted his son to succeed him straight away out of nepotism! Mugheera رضي الله عنه was appointed as governor of Kufa again, to pave the way

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 55 The shrewdest persons during the time of civil unrest were 5, Hadrat Amr ibn al-Aas (ra) and Hadrat Mu'aawiyah (ra) from the Quraysh. Hadrat Qays ibn Sa'ad (ra) from amongst the Ansaar. Hadrat al-Mugheerah ibn Shu'ruba (ra) from the Thaqeef: And; Hadrat Abdullah ibn Budayl ibn Warqa al-Khuzaa'ee (ra) from amongst the Emigrants. Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 48 The fast of Ashoora is an atonemen for the sins of the past year (Muslim). Whoever looks into the inside of somebody elses dwelling before receiving permission is then a faasiq (i.e., degenerate) (Bukhari). Domestic etiquettes Knock a maximum of 3 times (ie not too loud or quietly). Never peep within another dwelling Offer Salaam first and Upon a reply, then one mentions one's name and then request permission to enter. Never say "It is me." Better to wait outside for the pious to emerge rather than to call upon them Permission not needed in public places. In an emergency, one may enter without permission.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 46 He who Fasts for 1 day Muharram shall have his sins fo 30 days forgiven (Al Matjar). Ctesiphon, Persia falls. Mugeerah (ra) governs Basrah for 2 years. Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 45 The most superior month after Ramadaan is Muharram (Haakim). It used to be called 'the deaf month of Allah (SWT)" because of its Intense sanctity. After The Battle of Buzaakha Tulayha (ra) becomes one of the faithful. Imam Zuhree (ra) stated, When the truth dawned upon Tulayha (ra), he left the battlefield on foot and went onto embrace Islaam and enter into the Ihraam for Umrah (Bayhaqi). Umar (ra) considered Tulayha (ra) equal to 1,000 men (Tabarani).

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 44 Ashoora! Remind them of The Days of Allah SWT Surah 14:5, refers to the deliverance from Pharoah (Bayhaqi). Tulayha Ibn Khuwaylid (rah) the Chief of Bano Asad, a fallen martry at Nihaawand.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 43 The Siege of Nihaawand 21 AH The Battle of Nihaawand, fought over a period of 2 weeks. This splended opening was called The Openings Of All Openings or The Victory Of Victories - for after it the Persians had no more authority and the Muslims took control over their lands (Tabaree). After Nihaawand, with regards to Hadrat al-Mugheerah (ra) himself Haafiz Dhahabi (rah) had related, "He (ra) led the Conquests of Azerbaijan and Hamadhaan (Haafiz Dhahabi). Amr ibn MA'A'Dikarib (rah) is maryted at Nihaawand. Hadrat Maalik ibn Abdullah Khath'ami had related re Amr (raa)... I have not seen anyone step forward (ie to challenge an opponent) in The Battle of Yarmook who was better than a certain Muslim. When a powerfully built unbeliever came to meet his challenge, he effectively killed him (in no time). When another came forward, he killed him (in no time) as well (Hayatus Sahaba).

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 42 And of the nomadic Arabs there is he who believes in Allah (SWT) and the Last Day... Surah Tawbah 9 : 99. Hadrat An-Nu'maan ibn Muqarrin (ra) himself had related, We were 400 people from the Muzaynah tribe whom came to The Messenger ﷺ and we learnt aspects of Islam. Nu'maan, Umar (ra) & The Dates.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 41 Hadrat Nu'maan (ra) had his earnest wish granted, for he was struck by an arrow in the waist when his horse had slipped on the blood-soaked earth. Hadrat Sawaad ibn Muqarrin (ra) dressed himself in his brother's clothes, held his sword and then mounted his horse. The people thus did not suspect that he was not Hadrat Nu 'maan (ra) - thus they fought valiantly till Allah (SWT) granted them victory over their enemies. The 2 forces thus clashed with such intensity which had not been witnessed before the fighting continued till dusk.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 40 An Intense Battle Ensues The Zenith Must Pass Hadrat Nu maan (ra) You are a man of many virtues O Mugeerah (ra). I have fought with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and whenever he did not launch an attack at the beginning of the day, he ﷺ would then postpone it for the time when the sun had passed the meridian, when the wind started to blow and Allah's (SWT) help would descend.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 39 Mugeerah (ra) sent as an Envoy We are some people from the Arabs We led a hard miserable, disastrous life. We used to suck the hides and the date-stones from hunger. We used to wear clothes made up of the fur of camels and the hairs of goats and used to worship trees and stones. Whilst we were in this state, the Lord of the heavens and of the earths be elevated in His Remembrance and be Majestic in His Highness sent to us from amongst ourselves a Prophet ﷺ whose father and mother were known to us.

Al-Mugheera Ibn Shu’ba رضي الله عنه Session 38 Nahawand - Battle Begins I (ra) shall (now) reinforce you with (another) 2000 men. They are Amr ibn Ma'a' dikarib (rah) and Tulayha (rah), as per Umar (ra). The Companions faced 'A mountain of Iron- Persians' (Tabaree).
