  • Conversation Street Episode 295

    17/02/2018 Duration: 02h39min

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast between the 12th and the 16th February in the UK. Perhaps we didn't get the memo about it being Valentine's Day this week, because we certainly weren't feeling the love for this particular batch of episodes. Whether it's the the revival of Michelle's best left forgotton baby swap storyline, Toyah's continuing attempts to hide Eva's pregnancy or the many scenes of Craig's obsessive habits - yes, we get it; he has OCD! - we found that, sadly, there wasn't much to love his this week.. but if you're a fan of Gemma rants, you're in for a treat! Fortunately, things take a turn for the better in the second half of the podcast, starting with a fab interview with Kate White, a writer at Inside Soap, who gives us the scoop about what it's like to work for the UK's biggest soap magazine. That's followed by The Kabin, where we take a look at the Corrie fashion at last weekend's Archie's Footprint Ball, and launch a competition where you can win

  • Conversation Street Episode 294

    10/02/2018 Duration: 02h31min

Welcome to Episode 294 of the podcast, where we talk about everything Corrie between the 5th and the 9th February. Our top discussion point in Street Talk this week is Zeedan's contract with the Habeebs - it's a shady deal for sure, but is it about honour-based abuse as much as some people are making out? Also this week, there's a surprising match for Carla's kidney (well, surprising for us at least, as we didn't think it'd be this simple!) and Pat puts the frighteners on Steph. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Concepta Regan (warning - contains terrible and probably insensitive attempts at Irish accents!) then find out about a couple of new book releases that may be of interest to Corrie viewers in The Kabin. We round things off with some musical musings from Morgan in the feedback sections.

  • Conversation Street Episode 293

    03/02/2018 Duration: 02h34min

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about Coronation Street between the 29th January and the 2nd February. A great bunch of episodes this week, we thought - topped off, of course, by the return of the lovely Steph to the cobbles, who's back in town for her brother's funeral. Elsewhere, Gina turns her hand to being a mechanic (loved EVERYTHING about these scenes!), Daniel shares one of his organs with Carla (and we're not talking kidneys here), and the truth comes out about Rana and Kate. Earlier this week, we had the huge honour of being one of the few people to see the final cut of Chapter 1: Liv, the new short film starring Brooke Vincent, Sally Ann Matthews and Adam Blease, so after Street Talk, we give it our spoiler-free impressions, followed by a discussion of the possible implications of Corrie's new sponsorship deal with Costa and Co-op. We round off the show with a bit of listener feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 292

    27/01/2018 Duration: 02h40min

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 22nd and 26th January. To kick things off, we cover the outcome and aftermath of Anna's trial on Monday - though the guilty verdict was neither deserved nor unexpected, it's fair to say that we weren't exactly sad to see her banged up at the end of the episode; in fact, it was the musical montage sequence that really got our hackles up the most! Also this week, Sarah, Gail and Audrey have a nice family day out to the local lapdancing club, and there's terrible news for Toyah.. but is that an opportunity presenting itself in the form of Eva's unwanted sprog? After Street Talk, we do a character profile revisit on Anna. It was quite funny to hear some of the things we said about her last time we profiled her in Episode 30, and it's fair to say there's been a bit of a change of opinion since then! Next up, we celebrate Lucy Fallon's win and cast an eye over the red carpet fashion a the National Television Awards, then there's

  • Conversation Street Episode 291

    20/01/2018 Duration: 03h07min

On our latest podcast, we jabber on about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 15th and the 19th January in the UK. Anna's trial kicks off this week, and it's Seb who takes the stand first - will he be able to keep his nerve? Meanwhile, Toyah's paranoias over Carla culminate in a beer-illiant fight in the Rovers, and there's a shock for Craig when he discovers Bethany's unlikely new profession. After Street Talk, we have a little feature on soap magazines, comparing Inside Soap and Soaplife's festive offerings this year, pondering what kind of market they're aimed at, and whether they do a good job. In The Kabin, we have a look at the results of some online polls that Corrie has been running this week, and discover how out of touch we seem to be with the viewing public! That's followed by the usual mix of opinions in the feedback section, and a Kabin Extra at the end of the show to discuss some surprising cast news that's recently been revealed.

  • Conversation Street Episode 290

    13/01/2018 Duration: 02h51min

In our latest podcast, take a look back over the episodes of Corrie broadcast between the 8th and the 12th January. All in all, it was a bit of a miserable week in Weatherfield this week, but what else can you expect when the Street's gloomiest couple are due to get wed? As Chesney ties himself in knots about whether to tie the knot, everyone else mourns the loss of Luke, following his grisly demise last Friday. Meanwhile, Eileen learns the truth about her husband's recent nefarious deeds, but does she actually believe it? After Street Talk, we take a look at Luke's four years on the Street, before finding out which characters made the most appearances on Corrie during 2017 in the Kabin. We finish off the show with some listener comments on Luke's vigil, and our first voicemail of the year.

  • Conversation Street Episode 289

    06/01/2018 Duration: 03h45min

Hope you've got a lengthy car journey or a massive pile of washing up to do, because we think we've made our longest podcast yet! In this episode, we discuss the goings on in Weatherfield between the 1st and the 5th of January. Don't you just hate it when, after spending four years on the sidelines, you're finally given something meaty to do and then you get roasted in a fiery explosion? Luke, we feel your pain - you might need some E45 cream for those burns... Elsewhere on the Street, Weatherfield's most miserable couple get dolled up for their stag and hen nights, whilst Roy has to make a big decision about just how far he's willing to go for his friendship with Carla. After Street Talk, we launch what we hope will become a proud celebratory institution, sitting alongside the likes of the Golden Raspberries: Who was the worst new character of 2017? Which storyline stretched credulity to breaking point? Who was the mardiest mare and the dirtiest dog? All these questions and more will be answered in the first

  • Conversation Street 288 - The Conversation Street Awards 2017

    31/12/2017 Duration: 02h37min

The end of another year is here, and with it comes the sixth edition of the Conversation Street Awards! In this show, we look over who's made the biggest impression on us, the hosts, and you, the listeners, over the course of 201. Who's been the Top Lad and Lass? Which character will win our first ever Right Laff Award? Which story will be crowned That's Champion? Tune in to find out! Following the awards, we run down some of our other highlights of the year, consider how the switch to six episodes a week has turned out, and rate Kate Oates' first full year as producer. After that, it's prediction time! After running down how many we got right last year (here's a hint: not many!), we do our best Hilda impressions and see what the tea leaves have got to say about 2018.

  • Conversation Street Episode 287

    30/12/2017 Duration: 01h43min

On our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about the Christmassy Corrie dramas between the 25th and the 29th December. They say Christmas is a time for miracles, and we certainly saw a bit of that this week, as Billy somehow survives falling off a cliff. Elsewhere, renowned lush Carla gets tongues wagging when people notice she's not been drinking, and Brian does his best to fill the Corrie Christmas cliche quota by punching a drunk in the face and spending the night behind bars. After Street Talk, there's good news for Shayne Ward in The Kabin, and we hear some listeners' thoughts about this week's racism story in the feedback section.

  • Conversation Street Episode 286

    23/12/2017 Duration: 03h33min

Merry Christmas, everyone! On our podcast this weekend, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 19th and the 22nd December. Get yourself comfortable, because there's an awful lot to discuss! Anna's attack on Eileen, Billy's near-death experience and confession, Carla's return, Todd's departure... There's over two hours of the show just dedicated to Street Talk this week! After that, we stay in the festive mood by looking back at some Corrie Christmas cliches - arguments, violence, dinner disasters, break ups... Weatherfield isn't always the best place to be once December 25th rolls around, and we take a look at which years featured the most soap tropes in their Christmas Day episodes. There's good news for Helen Flanagan and Mike LeVell in The Kabin, as well as a shocking revelation about a certain ex-cast member's Twitter account, then we finish off the episode with a lot of love (and a bit of hate!) for Peter Barlow in the feedback section.

  • Conversation Street Episode 285

    16/12/2017 Duration: 02h34min

Welcome to Episode 285 of Conversation Street, where we'll be discussing everything Corrie between the 11th and the 15th December in the UK. Although this was a farly quiet week on the whole, it got off to a smashing start with the return of the Bistro ninja on Monday's episodes. Yes, Weatherfield's assassin in black is back, but this time, there's someone new behind the mask... Speaking of dastardly criminals, there's an escaped prisoner on the run this week, as Anna does a bunk from the hospital after having a bad reaction to her medication. Both she and the Bistro ninja pale in comparison to this week's true supervillain, though, is whoever set fire to Hope and Ruby's trapoline. Is Kirsty back to wreak havoc on Weatherfield once more, or could the true offerder be a little closer to home..? After Street Talk, we delve into out middle section and some Christmas-themed listener questions. That's followed by a short Kabin segment, where we look at where, other than Corrie, you can catch its stars on TV over t

  • Conversation Street Episode 284

    09/12/2017 Duration: 02h51min

Episode 284 of the podcast has arrived! Thanks to some technical issues, we had to switch things up this week and push Street Talk to the middle of the episode, leaving the opening hour to discuss the nominations for the Conversation Street Awards 2017. There were some tough decisions to make this year, but we're sure you'll find someone that floats your boat in each category, so if you haven't voted yet, head on over to our blog or check out our social media channels to find out how! When Street Talk does finally arrive, we check out the episodes of Corrie between the 4th and the 8th December, where the main focus was on the 'shock' death of Gary Windass - of course, thanks to tabloid spoilers, we knew he was very much alive even before the episodes aired, but it was at least a nice surprise for his return to land of the living to happen so quickly. Also this week, Roy dresses up as Pelznickel, Norris dons his Batman costume for his new wife (nothing kinky, we promise!), and Pat plays postman when Luke tells

  • Conversation Street Episode 283

    02/12/2017 Duration: 02h12min

This week on the podcast, we start things off a bit differently by announcing the winners of our Christmas on Coronation Street book competition, with the help of a special guest! We then move onto Street Talk, where we discuss the episodes shown in the UK between the 27th November and the 1st December. Get ready to suspend your disbelief, everyone, because there's a revelation for the Reverend this week that turns a story from 16 years ago on its head. Meanwhile, George is back in hospital again and Angie puts the blame squarely on Mary (but, come on - surely it's the flowers, right?), and Rana and Kate's dalliance in the daal van puts Luke in an awkward position. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Susan Barlow to find out just how much retconning a character can handle, then there's hope for the Coronation Street tour in the Kabin. After a bit of listener feedback, we round off the show with a bit of spoilery cast news in a Kabin Extra.

  • Conversation Street Episode 282

    25/11/2017 Duration: 02h17min

On our latest podcast, we talk about the seven episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 20th and the 24th November. Bit of a rough week for Robert, really - one minute he's being knocked down by a car, the next he's being told he's likely got testicular cancer. And does Michelle ease off on her nagging throughout it all? Of course not! Speaking of shrieking harpies, Anna gets dragged off by the cops again this week thanks to some masterful manipulation by Phelan, plus we say goodbye to Colin and Moira. After Street Talk, we're joined by Maggie Sullivan, the author of the recently released Christmas On Coronation Street novel. Maggie talks about how she went about expanding Elsie Tanner's back story, and we launch a competition to win one of five copies of the book. There's a Jennie jungle update in The Kabin, plus we congratulate Sarah Lancashire on her OBE, then round things off with some listener feedback.

  • Conversation Street Episode 281

    18/11/2017 Duration: 02h33min

Our latest podcast has us discussing all things Corrie between the 13th and the 17th November. This week's episodes saw some great performances from the leading actors, but when it came to plot developments, we can't say we were 100% satisfied. We've already made our stance on the marriage-wrecking 'Kana' storyline clear, and this week, we were just left feeling even more sorry for the blissfully ignorant Zeedan. Billy, meanwhile, confesses a shocking event from his past to Todd, which, to us, called for a little bit too much suspension of disbelief (and if press spoilers are to be believed, is just the tip of the iceberg). Fortunately, we were just as happy as ever with the Phelan storyline - assuming, of course,  Nicola's not actually going to move to Australia for good! After Street Talk, we turn our attentions to a little project that listener Rebecca has been working on for the past few months - cataloguing all the characters of the week we've picked, and we take a look at who's made it into the Top 20 u

  • Conversation Street Episode 280

    10/11/2017 Duration: 02h11min

There's no Friday Corrie this week, which can only mean one thing: early podcast! In our latest show, we go over the episodes broadcast between the 6th and the 8th November in the UK. Did Mary deserve that massive telling off from Jude on Wednesday? Are Jenny and Johnny really off to sunny Spain? Can Rita get to keep the Kabin? Comida? (Sim!) Next up, Winter is coming in our character profile section, as we take a look at everyone's second favourite Gemma, before discussing the results of the Inside Soap Awards in The Kabin. We round off the show with some more Facebook group highlights, our first blog comment in years, and a few tweets.

  • Conversation Street Episode 279

    04/11/2017 Duration: 02h59min

On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 30th October and the 3rd November. Though it didn't really feature on Corrie, this week was Halloween, and Seb's certainly in for a fright when he hears he's got HIV. Meanwhile, the Wicked Windass Witch of Weatherfield gets arrested when the police find the earring that Pat planted at the solicitors' office, and David - who we think may be slowly transforming into a werewolf from the chin outwards - starts to get suspicious when he sees Gary and Nicola together. After Street Talk, we've got a bit of a different feature discussion to mark Halloween, as we do our best to make tenuous links between Coronation Street and the Harry Potter series. Which houses would the Corrie kids be sorted into? Who'd teach each subject? What are the most terrible punny names Michael can think of for alternative book titles? If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll hopefully have a bit of a giggle in this segment and if not..well, if you s

  • Conversation Street Episode 278

    28/10/2017 Duration: 02h31min

This week on the show, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 23rd and the 27th October. First up, of course, are the heart-stopping events of Friday's Corrie, which not only revealed some shocking details about Phelan's murky past, but also saw the deaths of not one, but two characters. And if this wasn't enough to get your pulse racing, we also had Abi nearly die of a drugs overdose, and Seb take a tumble off his window cleaning ladder. Never a dull moment, eh? Well okay, we did have the saga of Alya's chicken goujons, we suppose.. After Street Talk, there's a forty-minute feature discussion about Corrie's history with gun crime, followed by a quick visit to The Kabin where there are congratulations in orderfor Bhavna Limbachia. We round off the show with a short feedback segment, and a miniround up of this week's discussions in our new Facebook group.

  • Conversation Street Episode 277

    21/10/2017 Duration: 02h31min

In this weekend's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 16th and the 20th October. The Phelan story has been building up to the revelation of his next hostage for a whie now, and this week, we finally find out... oh no, wait, we STILL don't know for sure who it's going to be yet. Come on Corrie - we're usually pretty patient when it comes to Phelan, but even we think this is starting to drag a bit now! At least things should start hotting up next week, it seems. Elsewhere, Coronation Street shows itself to be uncharacteristically up to date with its 'real life issue' story of the month as Summer gets a bit of Spice in her life, and the return of Mad Mary understandably drives Angie up the wall at number 3. The Kabin has us catching up with some past cast members and finding up what they're up to next - namely Keith Duffy, Tracy Shaw and Hayley Tamaddon, then we finish things off with a feedback section that includes two voicemails, a critical look at the Eva revenge sto

  • Conversation Street Episode 276

    14/10/2017 Duration: 02h45min

On our latest podcast, we tear down the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 13th October. This week, Imogen's hit by a severe case of personality change-itis, leading Kate to give her the old heave-ho. Will Rana finally admit her true feelings for the damsel in dungarees? Meanwhile, there's a surprise in store for Vinny when he gives his mum a birthday video call, and Max and Lily learn the truth about Shona's link to Clayton. Next up, we do a classic character profile on Martin Platt, then chat about the upcoming Sally Ann Matthews and Brooke Vincent short film, Chapter 1: Liv in the Kabin. Finally, we round things off with another iTunes review, some emails and a voice mail in the feeback section.
