On this week's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 3rd and the 7th May (Episodes #10315 - 10320). What a week that was, eh? There'd been rumblings and rumours for a fair few months that something big was going to go down with the Street's younger residents, and this week saw Seb and Nina set upon by Corey and his mates in scenes that echoed the vicious attack on Sophie Lancaster in Salford in 2007. With every actor pulling out the stops to deliver some of Corrie's most compelling episodes in a long while, this was a week that was, at times, quite difficult to watch - let alone record a podcast about! - but ultimately one that will be remembered for years to come and will no doubt be the catalyst for some big story and character developments as we go through 2021 and beyond. For our bonus podcast this week, we do a character profile of Seb Franklin. Arriving on the Street back in 2016 as the scallywag boyfriend of Faye Windass, Seb soon took to the hearts of many a Corrie viewer after the reveal of his tough home life. A key player in the downfall of Pat Phelan, an initial suspect in the Underworld roof collapse and the hero who rescued Alina from slavery, Seb's had quite an eventful time on the cobbles, but it's surely his most recent story, in which he's violently attacked whilst walking home, that he'll ultimately be remembered.

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went down in Weatherfield between the 26th and the 30th April. This week, we discover the truth behind Sharon's return to the cobbles - will she be able to lead Harvey's cronies to Leanne? With Jenny on the case, we wouldn't be too sure, although to be fair, both Nick and Simon don't appear to be all that good at the whole 'no contact with the family' part of witness protection, so it could just be a matter of time... Also this week, Seb does his best to get back into Nina's good books, Asha moves in with Corey, and Todd discovers that working at an undertaker's isn't all fun and games - who'd have thought it? For our bonus podcast this week, we tackle another pair of your listener questions. First up, we take a look into the old crystal ball and try to predict which current characters are still going to be major players in Corrie when the 80th anniversary rolls around. After that, we chat about which characters we're surprised haven't left the show yet.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 19th and the 23rd April (Episodes #10303 - 103308). After what's felt like a fairly long period of relatively 'meh' Coronation Street, we were both very pleased (and more than a little relieved) to get a set of episodes that we both thought were largely very strong this week. We'd been looking forward to Sharon Bentley's return ever since it was announced last month, and her reunion with Rita and showdown with Jenny certainly didn't disappoint. Also on the Street this week, Fiz realises it really is all over between her and Tyrone, Aadi earns a cheer and an extra bag of luxury crisps from us when he lamps Corey, and Seb and Nina become the show's most most unexpectedly adorable couple. For this week's bonus podcast, we're chuffed to be joined by Martin Sterling, a storyliner on the Street for 17 years, who's been responsible for some of the show's biggest moments of the 21st century. He chats with us about how someone who started off his working life in banking ended up rubbing shoulders with the likes of Barbara Knox and Liz Dawn, who he's most enjoyed writing for, and how the story team on Corrie manage to juggle so many balls at once when plotting out the life stories of our favourite characters.

We've got a real treat for fans of Classic Corrie on ITV3 this week in our bonus podcast. Like many of us, actress Georgia Taylor has been wallowing in nostalgia with some of the episodes from the late 90s recently, so we thought it would be fun to have a chat with her about what it's been like revisiting some of the Battersbys' early days from January 1998. Georgia tells us how it's been, seeing those scenes on the Red Rec for the first time in over 20 years, reflects on her time working alongside Corrie greats like Liz Dawn, Julie Hesmondhalgh and Roy Barraclough, and shares which storylines from that era have gripped her the most second time around.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 29th March and the 2nd April (Episodes #10285 - 10290) This week's episodes were dominated by the big Billy, Todd and Paul love triangle, which we're sure must have been pretty engaging if you're invested in any of the possible pairings - alas, we don't think any of the outcomes have any real potential, and this week's developments mostly just served to deepen our growing disdain for both Paul and Billy. Todd, at least, remains interesting to watch due to his excellent ability to conceal his true feelings and motivations, and colour us intrigued by his hiring at George's new funeral parlour on Friday's episode too! Eight and a half years later, and Tyrone's been up to quite a bit since, from hooking up with Fiz to falling through the attic floor to putting on the #BestChristmasEver for Hope - plus his back story's been well and truly rewritten thanks to the introduction of Evelyn. Here, we get the chance to share our full thoughts on a character who we both find really quite relatable, and ponder what we think the future might have in store for him.

Jack James Ryan's portrayal of nasty drug dealer Jacob Hay has had a lot of Corrie viewers' tongues wagging over the past few weeks, and he's certainly got plenty of people on social media fired up too over the way he's treated Simon, Carla and Leanne. In this interview, which is also available on video here, Michael and Jack talk about what it's been like bringing the character of Jacob to life, how he got into acting, and filming under COVID restrictions.

After going through a bit of a rough patch this past month or so, Corrie definitely felt like it was on the up this week. Getting Paul away from Billy and in with the likes of Daniel and Ed is the best thing that's happened to him for a while, and the Alahans and were back in focus, meaning more great lines from Dev and Aadi and realistic relationship dramas for Asha and Nina; meanwhile, both of the Connors got a big thumbs up from us this week too - Jenny for not putting up with any of Daisy's meddling and Johnny for taking his meds.
