Sushil Dongol says he was cooking at home when he got a phone that a flood was coming. Within moments, the water was far more powerful than he had expected. The 28-year-old from Betrawati, Nuwakot, was swept away but survived after being thrown onto higher ground. Our Nepal correspondent Pratichya Dulal spoke with Sushil Dangol about the floods. Melbourne’s traditional Gaijatra festival was dedicated this year to the victims of Nepal’s devastating floods. Newa Pucha Melbourne held the event on 29 August at the Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre (ANMC) in Diggers Rest.
