Kenny Saunders campaigner for Save Grass Roots Football
12/06/2018 Duration: 16minKenny Saunders has been campaigning for grass roots football for 40 years and he told Mick Coyle how he feels he may have to walk away if new fees are implemented for junior football teams. Kenny believes that the council and Premier League teams need to do more to help local children who play football and that there should be a levy imposed on Premier League teams to go towards grass roots football. He was also joined by Phil Rooney from the Edge Hill Junior Football League. Rob Thomson on pancreatic cancer awareness
01/06/2018 Duration: 20minCommunity Rehabilitation Officer, Rob Thomson, is warning people - and GPs - in the Wirral not to overlook symptoms that could potentially be signs of the deadly pancreatic cancer. Rob’s campaign for better symptom awareness has been prompted by losing his wife Alison to the disease in March 2018, aged 54, and just a few months after she was diagnosed. He is also embarking on a week’s worth of information and fundraising events starting 18 June at The Oak Bar & Bistro in Greasby in Alison’s memory, to raise awareness among the community that both he and Alison have spent their lives serving, and to raise money for more research into the disease. Lynn Quigley, Community Coordinator from Pancreatic Cancer UK was also alongside Rob in the studio.

Manchester Arena attack survivor on his trek to Snowdon

Andy was injured in the blast waiting for his family and he told Mick how the emotion is still very raw and how he has dealt with the attack terms of counselling for his mental health. He has arranged a trek for 30 fellow survivors up Snowdon on the day of the anniversary as his own tribute to the victims. 26/04/2018 Duration: 12min7th June 2018 will mark 50 years since women sewing machinists at Ford’s plant in Dagenham walked out in a row over equal pay. However, the role of ladies working at Ford’s plant in Halewood, who downed tools in solidarity with their southern colleagues, is a part of the story that has largely been forgotten. Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram, is trying to track down some of the women who were involved in the walk out at Halewood, and invite them to a commemoration event that is being organised in conjunction with Dagenham Council.
