KidsFest returns to Stanley Park on Sunday 19th August 2018 with a day packed of exciting free, fun activities for all the family. Organised by the James Bulger Memorial Trust (JBMT) the annual festival honours the life of toddler James Bulger. James' mum Denise Fergus was alongside her husband Stuart to talk about the fun day event which takes place each year and the work the charity is doing to fund and organise holidays and respite breaks for deserving children and their families.

According to Merseyside-based charity Autism Together, autism community heroes take many forms. A hero may have helped out in an emergency or stepped in when no-one else was prepared to, to help a family in distress. A hero may be a kind shopkeeper, a patient bus driver or a friendly swimming instructor. A hero may have made a point of getting to know someone on the autism spectrum and become a friend. Their friendship may mean the world to that person. Autism Together is calling for members of the public to nominate community heroes for its Autism Gold awards. The Awards are part of the charity’s golden anniversary celebrations and winners will be announced at a gala ball at the Shankly hotel in Liverpool in November.

Everton Football Club and its official charity, Everton in the Community, have launched a new mental health focused campaign to raise funds to build a permanent facility – called ‘The People’s Place’ - in conjunction with local charity Chasing the Stigma. The ‘People’s Place’ campaign has the backing and support of Everton CEO Professor Denise Barrett-Baxendale, first team manager Marco Silva and support from the first team squad . Jake Mills, founder of Chasing the Stigma, and Michael Salla, Director of Health and sport at Everton in the Community, joined Mick to talk about the ground-breaking project.

Ian Byrne and Dave Kelly from Fans Supporting Foodbanks were alongside Mick Coyle to talk about the upcoming season. They collect almost a tonne per game but are appealing for more donations this season for the North Liverpool Food Banks. Plus, they told Mick how they are aiming to get on board with a supermarket.

Mick Coyle was joined by some of the team from City of Liverpool FC ahead of the new season. Chairman Paul Manning was alongside newly appointed manager and former Purps player, Craig Robinson, and newly re-signed forward Jamie McDonald. They gave an update into the L10 project, Craig's first season as a manager and the decision for Jamie McDonald to return to the club.

Jemma Jones and Kelly Brown joined Mick Coyle in the studio to talk about a joint campaign to raise awareness of emotional abuse. Controlling money, always criticising and being purposely isolated from friends and family are just some of the examples being highlighted as ‘coercive control’. ‘Escape the Control’, which is being run jointly by Knowsley and Sefton Councils, aims to help people understand how extreme controlling behaviour is Domestic Abuse and what signs to look out for, if concerned about friends or family.

TV presenter Michaela Strachan joined Mick Coyle in the studio to talk about the Walking With Dinosaurs show that took place in the Echo Arena 31st July & 1st Aug. Michaela plays a paleontologist in the live show which goes on a European tour shortly after the UK show finishes.

Alex James was in for Mick Coyle on Liverpool Live and was joined by Caroline Paige and Joan Burnett to talk about Liverpool Pride 2018. Caroline was the first officer to transition gender in the British Armed Forces (1999). She had already served 19 years in the RAF, on fighter aircraft and battlefield helicopters, and following her transition, completed a further 16 years.  She is now a patron of this year's festival and she told Alex her incredible story. Plus, Liverpool Pride patron, Joan Burnett, gave all the details of this weekend's celebrations if you want to get involved.

The Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, joined Alex James on Liverpool Live to talk of his disappointment that Liverpool hasn't been shortlisted for Channel 4's relocation. He talks about the reasons given by Channel 4 including transport links and the HS2 line.

Managing director of Constellations joined Mick Coyle on Liverpool Live to talk about the closure of the Baltic Triangle venue. It was announced today that the venue will be closing in 2019 and will be replaced with residential space from a private developer. Rebecca announced that she is looking for a new space to host Constellations and about their new venture "Hinderlands" in Cains Brewery.

Jay Allen is a former truck driver from Australia who has battled melanoma and won, and is now on a mission to raise awareness and prevent others from getting the potentially deadly disease. Jay underwent immediate surgery and treatment. Ten years on he is fighting fit and was behind the campaign to ban sunbeds in Australia. He's teamed up with Melanoma UK and is travelling around the country to try and ban sunbeds across the UK. Gillian Nuttall, the CEO of Melanoma UK, was also alongside Jay Allen in the studio to talk about the importance of looking after your skin.

Andy Rogerson, also known as the Cycling Scouser, joined Mick Coyle on Liverpool Live alongside Andy Coles from Charlies Chance Foundation. Andy has famously undertaken many different charity bike rides for Charlies Chance and he spoke about his next challenge in America. Thousands of people have signed a petition hitting out at plans to BAN dogs from some areas of the Wirral. The Council is proposing stricter rules on where dog walkers can go to make places cleaner and safer . It could lead to people being fined for taking their pets to places like sports pitches and parts of the beaches Wirral Council say there will still be “over 20 miles of unrestricted beach” for letting dogs off the lead all year round, and outside of the warmer season, dogs would be able to go anywhere on the bathing beaches. A consultation on the new so called Public Space Protection order is underway - until the middle of July. Mick spoke to Councillor Mathew Patrick from Wirral Council - who’s put forward the proposal and also heard from local dog owners who are angry at the plans.

Chair of the International Business Festival, Max Steinberg, joined Mick Coyle on Liverpool Live to talk about the first week of the festival. It's been hosted in Liverpool for the third time and Max told Mick about the benefits of the festival on the city. Plus, the Duke of Cambridge who is also a patron of the festival, visited the IBF in Liverpool.

This summer, local team Liverpool Tritons represented Liverpool for the very first time in the The Mark Kendall Bingham Memorial Tournament, the biennial world championship of LGBTQIA+ and inclusive rugby clubs in Amsterdam. Aiming to present a positive image of gay men in sport, Liverpool Tritons is an inclusive team for men of any sexuality who play rugby union in Liverpool and the surrounding area. Chris Berwick-Bryce who, with his husband Alex, are members of Liverpool Tritons joined Mick Coyle in the studio to talk about the tournament in Amsterdam where they finished third place.

Alan Gibbons, founder of "Liverpool Stand Up To Trump" joined Mick Coyle on Liverpool Live to talk about a meeting taking place this weekend with Stop the War Coalition. The Merseyside group are calling all to join and stand against Donald Trump's July 2018 visit to Britain. It takes place on Saturday 16th June at 3pm at the Black-E.
