Bethany Doyle is kicking off today's show with a ton of information about the first ArtsWalk of 2018 in Frostburg. April 28, 2018 the town will be full of artists, live music and even a movie night for all ages. To keep up to date on everything associated with the event be sure to check out their Website and Facebook Page    Jen Browne is back on the mics reading some beautiful poetry that you might see under your feet in our area, after a nice spring rain. Frostburg State design students have partnered with the CLA to get poetry in the community. The prose and stanzas will appear under your feet... so go walk in the rain! The CLA is hosting Coffee with the Writer with Lowell Duckert, and his book For All Waters: Finding Ourselves in Early Modern Wetscapes. Duckhert WVU associate professor will be discussing his book on April 28, 2018 from 10am-12pm Expresses your creativity in one-act Submit before the deadline and you might get you see your show in lights! I had the pleasure of spending some time with Frostburg State University Communication Studies students Deena Lucas, Niki Elliott, and Brendon Brock. They have been involved with several projects that are successfully collaborating with our community. Their latest project is the Choose Civility project on April 12, 2018, this event is taking place all over Allegany county including events on Frostburg State University Campus. Frostburg Grows is helping you celebrate spring by brushing up on your gardening skills with their Seed Exchange March 11, from 2p-4p at City Place in Frostburg. They have partnered with local master gardeners, that will be providing demonstrations, answering gardening questions, and  seed exchanges.  If you are trying to expand your gardening prowess, by signing up for a community garden plot at Frostburg Grows high tunnels and raised beds.  If you are interested in a native plant sale it will be happening May 12 from 10-3p Frostburg Grows is a sustainable agriculture and training center located in Frostburg, MD. The 5-acre site, formerly used for coal mining, has been re-purposed to demonstrate innovative, sustainable land usage. The organization is committed to growing food for the future, supporting local farms in our area, and training others to do the same. Frostburg Grows is utilizing their growing space to grow food donations for local food pantries. They are encouraging everyone to donate extra foods

  Well it finally happened, Eli and I were in the same town, in the same room, recording our well over due episode. We had a blast and discussed food, coming home, and podcasting.Eli was helped me start this show and could not have done it without his support. Our favorite show regular Michael Thompson (last years winner) is back discussing the second annual Photographic Competition and Exhibition. This event is being held April 7, 2018 at the Allegany Arts Council 9 North Center Street in Cumberland Maryland. The call is officially out to submit your photos (do that HERE)  The submissions are due Feb 20, 2018 and the cash prizes over $5,000. The Juror who has the hard job of picking the winners this year is Karen Irvine. Karen is the curator and associate director of the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP) at Columbia College Chicago. She has organized over forty five exhibitions of contemporary photography at the MoCP and other venues including the Hyde Park Art Center;  Rockford Art Museum; Lishui International Photography Festival, China; Daegu Photography Biennale, South Korea, and the New York Photo Festival. We are kicking off our fourth season with Doug and Betsey. Their voices should sound familiar as they have both been featured on previously.  This episode they join forces to discuss their upcoming debut in Love Letters a play written by A. R. Gurney. This popular play has been performed many times over on broadway, but locally was made famous by Doug's parents Leonard and Jane Schwab.  The performances of past and present have always been a fundraiser for the Cumberland Theatre and 100% of the proceeds will benefit the theatre. The 2018 run will be February 17th and 18th ONLY so our advice is to purchase your tickets early!  Enjoy!

Johnny O is back and boy are we glad he is here to explain taxes, reform and the on going bill that is now, currently back in the House after the Senate vote over the  weekend. Taxes are a complicated web but with this episode we discuss it in a way that should be helpful, and open your eyes to the process of how tax reform works and ultimately effect you.  This is an ongoing story, and the bill itself is going to change most likely until the last minute. Read well balanced news and glean insight, and how it will directly effect you or those you love. This episode starts our efforts to start a dialogue about sexual harassment. This is a topic that has been in the press involving people in the public eye, this publicity has enabled everyone to start the dialogue of their own experiences and how things need to change. While trying to tackle this subject I quickly realized that this would need to be an on going topic of conversation involving different professionals that can help with understanding the different facets of this topic.   

We ventured back to Basecamp Coffee, and my have they grown!            Basecamp has launched their online store so you can enjoy their coffee all over the world.  In order to grow Basecamp has moved to a larger roasting location that will accommodate a larger production facility to bring the freshest coffee to your cup.  Hayden  discusses their signature blends of coffee and where you can enjoy a freshly brewed cup locally. Hayden is very reachable and loves to hear from the customer, it's good to know your coffee roaster say hello at farmers markets and events throughout the year. Basecamp Cafe is in the works so stay tuned to for more information as it develops.   Chuk Azubike is graduating from Frostburg State University in Spring 2017 and is the current student intern at Frostburg First. The Frostburg State University Center for Literary Arts, in partnership with the Allegany County Library System, is excited to announce that the eleventh annual Western Maryland Indie Lit Festival is scheduled for Oct. 13 & 14 on Main Street in Frostburg. The event brings together editors and publishers with writers and educators of the local community. The Queen City Film Festival is Western Maryland's premier film festival, this year October 5-8 2017 in Cumberland Md. The QCFF is currently in its sixth year and is being held at Mezzo's  114 S. Centre Street on the third floor. The QCFF offers a four day program of screenings and educational panels, and welcomes filmmakers from around the world. The One Act Play festival returns to the Palace for it's 8th season September 30, 2017 at 7pm.  Playwrights from all over the world submitted work and the winners have been announced.. do not miss this event.
