Her process is truly distinctive, involving a meticulous technique of carving intricate patterns into brass and then pressing them into sterling silver. Denise Sullivan  A Bob Ross Certified Artist fell in love with oils, paint as well as pastels, she is so thirlled to be a part of the Artist Studio Tour this year and you can visit her in her home studio, she also teached classes and specializes in Landscapes and Florals.  Visit her during the tour here  

Donna spent most of her life as a self-taught artist focused on graphite and acrylic.  While she “dabbled” and remained drawn to art, she all but put away the easel to raise a family, attend college, and foster a career. Once retired from banking, she started her artistic work anew. Her first move, she found a good instructor and mentor. Secondly, she picked up pastels, an entirely new medium for her. The more she explored what these fabulous little sticks of pigment could do, the more she pushed herself into unknown territory. When asked “Why pastels?” she stated, “I don’t do anything by half. Finding a mentor that is both a great guide and fierce friend was paramount. She sparked a passion in me. I discovered what I seldom found in the acrylics. This week we are lucky enough to highlight Hilmar Gottesthal check out his studio click the link below for more details Artist Studio Tour   Hilmar currently is the featured artist at The Ferlman Gallery, you can check out his work  Artist and sculptor Hilmar Udo Fister Gottesthal was born on Christmas Eve 1942 in Carinthia, Austria. He studied at the “University of Vienna” and the “Vienna Academy of Fine Arts” where he graduated in 1966 winning the two highest art awards. He partially restored the Neo-Gothic Votive Church in Vienna before his interest in Byzantine art took him to Greece and Turkey where he spent 30 years painting and sculpting as well as capturing the ancient ruins, myths, and religious icons. He arrived in Istanbul in 1966 having received an Austrian-Turkish Cultural Exchange Grant. His earliest One Man Shows were at the Istanbul City Gallery, the State Museum for Painting and Sculpture, the American Robert College and American Cultural Institute. Pat is making her 2nd apperence on the podcast, after hitting the mics almost 10 years ago, this its personal. Over the past several years, she has painted en plein air along with working in my studio. She  appreciates the focus and presence required to paint on site and have worked to bring the liveliness of plein air to her studio work. Patricia Hilton received her BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati and MFA from Indiana State University. Andrea hits the mics in this great episode, she started out in Tucson AZ, and made her way to our wonderful Arts community. Specailizing in Art in acrylic, oil pastel, watercolor, giclee, and digital photographs. Andrea has the educational chops to back up her skills and even went to nursing school and plays in the local band the Slice Girls. Andrea strongly beleives that art is therapy and something everyone can do. She will be showing with Shelia Wade in Pinto Maryland during the Artist Studio Tour this October.

Frank is making his RTL debut, and how his deep connection to nature inspires his art. What started with a simple planter in Dupont Circle blossomed into a successful landscaping business in D.C., creating moments of peace and connection in an urban landscape. At age 62, Frank decided it was time for something different. He hired a life coach, set goals, and actively moved toward what he wanted to do in his next chapter, which included writing a book (link below). Penny Knobel-Besa a gem of Western Maryland is making her podcast debut!  Penny is a  fine arts photographer, playwright (directed and produced Off-Broadway), and theatre director (founded Maryland Theatre Arts Company). In the past she was named Maryland Photographer of the Year, won awards, and enjoyed being published in various literary journals. Her photos are usually un-cropped and shown as they were taken.  Even with film she used blur and reflections to make paintings with my camera.
