Melinda makes her first appearence on RTL, she is here to discuss all of the exciting new things happening downtown this holiday season, and how to support local businesses by shopping small not just this time of year but year round. The DDC is undertaking its biggest project to date with much needed improvement to Baltimore Street, and downtown mall redevelopment project.

Tyler Corwell is a local musician who will be attending WVU's music program in the fall stopped by the podcast for a great interview. He is a singer, songwriter who loves to perform live, he has aspirations of having his name in lights. RTL is back and we are happy to have one of our favorite guest Mike Thompson back on the airwaves. He is here to talk about his latest photography project Fade to Blue. Mike walks us through what it was like to organize a huge project during a pandemic, and what it was like to shoot his old high school one last time.  The stories are absolutely amazing and his photographs are bringing the life once lived in the hallways back to life.  He will be exhibiting his show at the Allegany Arts Council in July of 2022. David Hill is the founder of Free indeed Ministries, a non-profit located at 201 N. Centre Street in Cumberland, MD. David started out life in Baltimore MD and his path in life lead him here. David started the Hope Against Heroin in Allegany County raising awareness about the opioid epidemic in our area. He has been an outstation "life coach" for those around him for the past 28 years. David's story is one that should inspire you to put kindness and love into your community. 

How do you start the conversation about racism? This episode deals with that topic and hopefully helps you start your own dialogue with yourself and others. Ray Morriss, mayor of Cumberland MD makes his debut in this weeks episode. All Libraries - All Day Food for Fines All branches of the Allegany County Library System will hold Food-for-Fines Day on April 11. This is our annual day of the year when patrons can reduce their fines by turning in cans or boxes of non-perishable food. Each can or box given will reduce your fine by $1.00. Melanie Chapman and Sam Vega join us to discuss the importance of education no matter your age.  Melanie heads up the adult education program at Allegany College of Maryland. The staff of this program is the ultimate support system helping adults reach their education goals by completing high school equivalency exams and some continuing on to earn college degrees.  Sam Vega is a success story from this great program, she is engaging politicians at the state and federal level to ensure that the funding continues for this fantastic program.

After four years of recording podcasts, I was lucky enough to have Mayor Brian Grimm  on the show.  Brian is here to shed some light on the positive work that he and the city council have done over the past eight years. Brian demistifies what his job tittle means and how much power  the office of Mayor possesses, and the reality of how much time and effort goes into this job. The city of Cumberland has issues like any other municipality and our conversation touches on public safety, opiate addiction, infrastructure improvements, green energy solutions, and economic development/job creation. The Queen City Film Festival is Western Maryland's premier film festival, this year October 4-7 2018 in Cumberland Md. The QCFF is currently in its eighth year and is being held at Mezzo's  114 S. Centre Street on the third floor. The QCFF offers a four-day program of screenings and educational panels, and welcomes filmmakers from around the world.  This year they are featuring 89 Films over eight categories and featuring six Maryland filmmakers. Ryan is gracing the airwaves once again with a few extra letters behind his name. He recently finished his doctorate in conducting and is back to talk about the importance of music. Ryan while studying has been racking up the air miles to come back home to participate and help run Mountainside Baroque a local non-profit. Mountainside Baroque, Cumberland’s early music collective has established itself as a staple of the cultural scene in the mid-Atlantic region, known for its excellent performances of music written before 1800.
