  • The GABACast, Episode 109: Real Gamecocks versus Teal Gamecocks.

    29/08/2018 Duration: 55min

Football is BACK! I mean, we’re happy that the University of South Carolina Women’s Soccer Team defeated Clemson 1-0 last week, and we’ll be watching closely as Mark Berson’s Men’s squad takes on those folks in orange this Friday, but can we talk about these new uniforms already!?Yep, football is back, faithful listener, and the crew from the only podcast in the Gamecock universe is here to bring you everything you’ve come to expect from your favorite source for all things Carolina sports. We discuss our favorite off-season things: from our own campaign to give Javon Kinlaw a ridiculous nickname, to Jeremy Pruitt not knowing how boat motors work, to the fact that the NCAA playoff system still kinda sucks (see also defending national champs, the UCF Golden Knights). We also roll through our week one score predictions and give out our Crystal Game Balls. It’s all that and more inside this week’s show!We had a lot of fun recording this episode, and we hope you have fun listening. Please click here to find us on

  • The GABACast, Episode 108: FOOTBALL IS ALMOST BACK!

    24/08/2018 Duration: 01h18min

School is back in session, cooler weather beckons, and everyone is undefeated. This is truly the best time of year....except the back to school part. (sorry, teachers everywhere)In any event, this is our final preseason preview episode before our regular schedule resumes next week. We talk about some of our favorite moments of the offseaon, predict an SEC champion, and roll through our in-depth game-by-game analysis (read: loosely formed) for the 2018 schedule, including a win/loss prediction and swing games/trap games that could make or break the South Carolina Gamecocks campaign. We also roll through our winners and losers of the week, taking several detours along the way. We had a lot of fun and we hope you will enjoy the show.

  • The GABACast, Episode 107: Defense and Special Teams preview!

    23/08/2018 Duration: 01h03min

What if you could change one play in Gamecock Football history?...well, we talked about it, and, unsurprisingly, it’s a pretty dark road to go down. But we do it anyways because we’re South Carolina Gamecocks football fans and apparently we like to torture ourselves.Moving along to different matters, Sam, DC3 and Alex attempt to highlight the positives and negatives for each defensive unit, as well as the special teams in this week’s second of three preseason preview episodes. From our high hopes for the defensive line to our optimism regarding punt returns and our understandable fear of setting up for a field goal longer than 25 yards, your favorite podcast is back to bring you all that and more!

  • The GABACast, Episode 106: THE MOST OFFENSIVE GABACAST EVER

    10/08/2018 Duration: 01h02min

How will the South Carolina Gamecocks look without resident offensive wet blanket Kurt Roper at the helm? Will Jake Bentley act his age this season? Is Bryan Edwards overrated? Is Rico Dowdle the guy in the backfield? How can Garnet Thor be replaced? Can the O-Line take the heat? Can Deebo Samuel come back and shine in his final season? We answer those questions and many more (most of which you didn’t even ask). We hope you enjoy the show!

  • The GABACast, episode 104: Feeling Super.

    06/06/2018 Duration: 57min

All is right with the world once again: the University of South Carolina Gamecocks are back in the Super-Regionals. The Gamecocks swept through the Greenville (NC) regional, defeating Ohio State, East Carolina, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in fairly impressive fashion and set up a date with the Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend. How did they come back from the dead to set up yet another post-season run? Well, that's what we're here to talk about. In this week's episode, the guys take a look back at the series, and survey the daunting task ahead of traveling to Fayetteville to do battle with one of the legitimate title contenders for the College World Series crown. We also take a look at the whole Super Regional field, and discuss the matchups we're most excited or interested to see. We also take a look at how Mark Kingston's first season stacks up against other first year efforts in Gamecock sports history, shoutout the new Gamecock MLB draftees, talk some smack about Clemson running out

    31/05/2018 Duration: 53min

Your favorite South Carolina Gamecocks sports podcast is back!As the baseball team stands on the precipice of the post-season, the Softball team looks back at a great season that shows the signs that the Lady Gamecocks may *actually* be #Elite. The football team has had itself quite a week, and the men’s basketball team found out that Brian Bowen’s playing career and eventually his future will be forever affected by yet another dumb NCAA ruling. And, speaking of the NCAA doing dumb stuff, our friend, Steven Godfrey also wrote a very good article about college football. Sports are really stupid sometimes, but they’re still awesome. This week’s episode is brought to you by our new sponsor Charmin Extra Soft. For your delicate undercarriage.

  • The GABACast. Episode 102. WE ARE A FOOD DRIVE PODCAST NOW.

    25/04/2018 Duration: 48min

LOTS.And, with that, it means that you also get the return of your ‘favorite’ South Carolina Gamecock Spots Podcast! This week, Sam, Alex, and DC3 delve into the Gamecock Baseball team’s recent sweep of a ranked LSU Tigers team (which would subsequently catapult the Gamecocks into the top-25 for the first time in what seems like an eternity), and take a look at the season thus far. We dig into their own assessment of where the team is compared with our expectations of where the team should be (because we’re experts, dangit). We also dive into the hype surrounding the upcoming football season, both on and off the field. We talk Spring Game reactions, hand out praise for the Social Media staff, and celebrate the hiring of one Marcus Lattimore. But, most of all, we celebrate the Gamecocks momentous victory over the Clemson Tig

  • The GABACast, Episode 101: Gamecocks Make History.

    06/03/2018 Duration: 48min

The Lady Gamecocks won an incredible, record-shattering, fourth-consecutive SEC tournament title after a dominating performance against the heretofore undefeated Mississippi State Bulldogs, The South Carolina Gamecocks Men's Basketball team has to play a first-round game in its upcoming SEC tournament, and the South Carolina Gamecocks Baseball team lost its fourth-consecutive Reedy River Rivalry to the [muffled cough] Clemson Tigers. We attempt to discuss these and many more topics on this week's triumphant return of your favorite Carolina sports podcast. • The GABACast. Episode 100!!!

    11/01/2018 Duration: 49min

Today we celebrate the only football team from South Carolina that is undefeated in 2018. We are celebrating the only way we know how: by publishing the podcast three days late beause DC3's computer suffered an untimely, but very on-brand, demise. So, apologies if we reference a not-yet-to-be-played national title game which was way more fun than we actually predicted it to be on the show. We do, however, discuss our winners and losers of the final week of college football, recap a bowl win over the Michigan Wolverines, provide our way-too-early 2018 predictions, and wax poetic on our new program mascot, Ryan Nanni (affectionately known as @celebrityhottub). He isn't the diplomat we asked for, but he's the one we deserve. We also get into a little bit of Gamecock basketball. Conference play is underway, and things are *actually* not terrible, but they're not super-good either. We dive into the men's and women's performances on the hardwood, and try to figure out if the post-season is a possibility for the men's

  • The GABACast, Episode 99: Outback Bowl preview and MORE.

    28/12/2017 Duration: 54min

Merry Christmas!Bowl season is underway, and the podcast has returned from a much-needed winter hiatus (medicore content ain't as easy as it looks, folks). However, the pre-christmas bowls have been, for the large part, well, predictably bad. So, we figured we'd cheer everyone up by starting with some Gameock basketball talk. Okay, that was probably a bad idea. In addition to some very #REALTALK about the current state of affairs for both the men's and the women's basketball programs, the GABACast boys dive into a number of different topics. We roll through winners and losers, wax poetic on the talent gap in college sports today, and still find time to make fun of Baylor.  From the GABACast to you, we really appreciate everyone that listens to the show, and we wish you and yours a lovely and happy New Year. Oh, and, Go Cocks.

  • The GABACast. Episode 98: Clemson post-game post-mortem.

    29/11/2017 Duration: 59min

Well. The better team definitely won this past Saturday....we just didn’t think it was going to happen LIKE THAT.Following Jake Bentley’s ill-timed first quarter interception that resulted in the first touchdown for the Clemson Tigers, the South Carolina Gamecocks were overwhelmed on both sides of the ball for the remainder of the game. Outplayed by a deeper, faster, stronger, and more prepared squad that wasn’t afraid to play mind games in addition to giving it their absolute best on the field. Carolina got clobbered by the presumptive number one seed in the College Football Playoff....I need to take a shower after writing that.Anywho, your favorite Gamecocks sports podcast is back to discuss the loss to Clemson and so much more, from bumbling and fumbling coaching carousel rumors and #GRUMORS to other depressing box scores (looking at you Oregon State and Kentucky and Florida), there’s a little something for everyone this week. We also look forward to bowl season, and attempt to stay way away from #WaterBot

  • The GABACast. Episode 97: Turning over the Terriers and ITS CLEMSON WEEK

    20/11/2017 Duration: 49min

Greetings, Gamecocks! On this week’s episode of the podcast, we revel in an eighth win, and marvel that the end of the season really is fast approaching. It’s bittersweet that football is nearly over, but it’s totally worth it because it’s time for CLEMSON HATE WEEK.It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. On TigerNet.Seriously the jokes write themselves, and they’re not even good jokes. As per usual, we roll through our weekly winners and losers, this week was a little light on dramatic content, but it still had it’s highs and lows. We highlight two teams that will likely not make the playoff because it’s bullshit reasons, despite being super fun and good at football, and we lament some not-so-good behavior from some guys that didn’t want to shake hands, a coach that snatched defeat from the claws of victory, and a coach that got the literal opposite of a birthday present. We dissect what we learned after beating the Wofford Terriers 31-10 on Saturday, and we try to figure out just what in the world to

  • The GABACast. Episode 96: Gator Baited.

    14/11/2017 Duration: 47min

The Gamecocks battled to a victory this past Saturday in WillyB against a floundering but loaded with athletic talent, Florida squad. They’ve got their sights set on their first winning season in a minute, and we’re really facing the possibility of optimism heading into the final two weeks of the college football season. Our Solution? Let’s podcast. We roll through our winners and losers from the (gasp) ELEVENTH WEEK OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL, including the greatest Twitter hashtag of all-time. Seriously. The greatest. We also dive into the bizarre, but eventually cromulent, victory against the Florida Gators, and attempt to unpack what might transpire this weekend as the South Carolina Gamecocks take on the Wofford Terriers in the season’s penultimate game. We talk about Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots, ridiculous playoff scenarios, and much much more. Hope y’all enjoy!

  • The GABACast. Episode 95: DAWG Gone-it.

    06/11/2017 Duration: 01h01min

Greetings, loyal listeners!Listen, things didn’t go our way this past Saturday, and we aren’t ones for moral victories, but, hey, it could’ve been worse, right?I mean, like, way worse. So, we’re here this week to try and put a positive spin (actually, DC3 tries, and Sam tries to play the role of ‘Debbie Downer’ for a change) on a loss to a simply better football team. In addition to our post-mortem analysis, we try to figure out how this loss can help the team this upcoming week when the Florida Gators come to Columbia to try and salvage something out of a forgettable season. As always, we hand out our winners and losers, including a new contender for loser of the year (lookin’ at you, Kansas Jayhawks). We review the basketball team’s opening charity game against Virginia Tech (which wasn’t pretty, folks), give our thoughts on the not-so-breaking news that Deebo Samuel will return for his final year of eligibility, provide some insight on ‘laptop-gate’ (i.e. Dave Doeren needs something better to do), discuss t

  • The GABACast. Episode 94: Shut the Commodore.

    31/10/2017 Duration: 57min

November and South Carolina still has an opportunity to win the SEC East. Stop laughing. Seriously.STOP LAUGHING.The University of South Carolina Gamecocks dispatched the Vanderbilt Commodores' leaky vessel back into the crisp October night, and find themselves at an alarmingly unsatisfying 6-2 with four games remaining. Anyone would call this season a relative success thus far. However, the most interesting and potentially soul-crushing portion of their schedule awaits, and your favorite podcast boys are here to break it down. We discuss the advent of a mobile Jake Bentley, lament the loss of yet another offensive lineman, and beg that the lackadaisical, sloppy defensive unit not do whatever it is they did (or didn't) do this past Saturday. Baylor lost again, the whole state of Florida is in some dire football straits, and Gary Patterson's visor is clearly trying to troll him in plain sight. We go over everything from Kyle Shurmur's inevitable excellent performance, to Mon Denson's somewhat surprising debut

  • The GABACast. Episode 93: BEAT VANDY HOMECOMING PREVIEW.

    23/10/2017 Duration: 37min

Listen. It was a bye-week. We had some technical issues. Our audio sounds like shit through a tin horn. Deal with it. We soldiered through. So should you. Eat this Spam wrapped in printer paper. It's healthy. Trust us.In this week's episode, we highlight our winners and losers from week 8, including Penn State's dominating performance against a secretly stinky Michigan, and Jimbo Fisher's unsuccessful attempt to challenge the karma gods against Louisville. In the end, we arrive at a consensus. Orange stinks. Every shade of orange stinks. Looking ahead, we preview a matchup against a Vanderbilt team that we cannot fully comprehend. They've lost to bad teams, beaten good teams, and lost big to good teams, but one thing that's certain is they're still Vanderbilt. We hand out our keys to the game, and provide our crystal ball predictions. We hope you enjoy this week's episode. BEAT VANDY

  • The GABACast. Episode 92: Live from Fenton Island.

    16/10/2017 Duration: 01h04min

Greetings faithful listeners! We bring greetings from Fenton Island, which is a real, actual place that, while lacking an airport, is a fun place to record a podcast.Sam and Alex ditched DC3 and actually went to Knoxville to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks suffocate the Tennessee Volunteers in the second half to grind out a 15-9 victory and likely spell doom for everyone’s favorite SEC doormat of a coach, Butch Jones. We try to give a taste of what the Gameday atmosphere is like at Neyland Stadium (SPOILER: it’s actually good, but, bring comfy shoes) while breaking down another hard-fought victory. We roll through our winners and losers from the week that was in college football (OH HAI, BAYLOR), Sam discusses why hijacking your opponent’s locker room to give a post-game speech is actually bad, and DC3 provides some insight into the mind-bending experience that is taking in a South Carolina football game with only the Gamecock Radio Network as your guide. We hope you enjoy this rambling, incoherent mess of

  • The GABACast. Episode 91: Razorback Stew.

    09/10/2017 Duration: 58min

If but for a short while Saturday evening, football was fun again in Williams-Brice Stadium. The Arkansas Razorbacks were overpowered by a stingy, explosive Gamecock defensive unit that saw TJ Brunson, Skai Moore and Keisan Nixon score touchdowns (the first time that's happened since 2010). Sam, Alex, and DC3 are here to relive their favorite momets of the game, and to provide thoughts on where the team is trending as they travel to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers. DC3 tries to be positive for roughly twenty minutes, Alex revels at the prospect that this defense might just be #elite, and Sam guarantees a beat-down of the Vols. We also make fun of Jim Harbaugh, Baylor is STILL the loser of the week, and this kicker might have the greatest highlight of all time.  We hope you enjoy, thanks for listening, please rate and review if you're so inclined!
