  • The GABACast, Episode 130: Belk Kickoff Disaster.

    05/09/2019 Duration: 01h23min

Listen, we all know that the first rule of Gamecock fandom is that you will experience soul crushing defeat that will leave you staring at yourself in the mirror wondering why in the world you do things like this to yourself. However, Saturday's defeat at the hands of a resurrected (and questionably botox'ed) Mack Brown team may have been a new experience. Losing to a University of North Carolina Tarheels team that won a combined five games in the past two seasons with a freshman quarterback when you're optimistic about a fourth year quarterback and a host of veteran talent might have thrown you for a loop.Well, dear fellow Gamecock fan, THE ONLY GAMECOCK PODCAST IN EXISTENCE IS HERE TO HELPThis week, Sam and DC3 go old school, because Alex literally couldn't even, but despite the fact that there were only two of the three amigos, the TAEKS were still flying like seagulls in a Walmart parking lot. The guys break down the loss in Charlotte and wax poetic on what the rest of the season might hold. We bag on the

Folks, we did it. Our long national nightmare is over. We made it through the dark days of summer and have reached what is basically better than Christmas morning. It's officially game week. Football. Is. Back.Yea, it's probably going to be super hot this weekend in Charlotte for opening kick but who cares? Our South Carolina Gamecocks will kick it off at 3:30 on ESPN against the North Carolina Tar Heels. In this week's episode we hash out a lot of different things like:Why Feleipe Franks is kind of a head case.An NFL longsnapper that truly forgot how to football and then unceremoniously got cut.Richard's miserable morning trying to get inside an IKEA furniture store. Our thoughts on that absolute clown show that was Miami vs Florida. Our UNC preview and predictions (spoiler: DC3 is the pessimistic one). Our uniform predictions and our X-Factor players of the weekTwitter questionsThank you so much for listening to the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast on the internet. We're the only one. Do not fact check th

  • The GABACast, Episode 128: THERE IS ACTUAL FOOTBALL THIS WEEK

    22/08/2019 Duration: 01h30min

We're running on fumes coming into the season. Just admit it. We all are.School is back. The temperature won't drop for anyone, and your mother-in-law is still not a big fan of how you 'organized' the garage. We get it. The dog days SUCK. That's why we're here to bring you FOOTBALL! Your trusted source for University of South Carolina Gamecocks sports news and other stuff is back to celebrate the return of college football! As the only college football podcast on the planet, and as trusted journalists in a respected and well-regulated field, we are committed to bringing you the most up-to-date and accurate news, insight, headlines, and inside scoops, so you can stick to the important stuff like planning your tailgate this weekend. That being said, inside this week's episode, you'll find:- Why is Johnny Manziel basically taking a job at a fast food restaurant?- The US Amateur was one of the best golf tournaments of the year to watch/follow.- Billy Napier is *not* good.- What Gamecock would've been a great play

  • The GABACast, Episode 127: BLACK MAGIC RETURNS (don't @ us).

    14/08/2019 Duration: 01h04min

Hey there sportsfans! What movie would you like to remake? Are movie remakes even worth it? A very GABACast diatribe starts off our latest episode, and it continues long into the night. Spoiler alert, DC3 wants to remake Casablanca and it’s probably a bad idea. That should surprise noone. Moving along, we roll through our winners and losers, including Antonio Brown’s helmet (and feet), Florida’s done gone and found another troublemaker, the Baltimore Orioles ridiculous upset, why the baseball might be ruining baseball (note: we still abide by our stance of ‘never bunt, hit dingers’ but feel like the amount of home runs being hit currently is ridiculous don’t hate us.) We also delve into the position group that we’re most confident in heading into the season opener. And for the main event: we preview the second half of the South Carolina Gamecocks football season. There may or may not be some quintissential DC3 pessimism. There is definitely #BANTER. We hope you all enjoy the show. Please click here to find us o

  • The GABACast, Episode 126: FOOTBALL (almost) BACK

    06/08/2019 Duration: 01h08min

Howdy friends, We can almost smell the tailgates in the air. Except for the fact that we can't breathe due to the current humidity levels. That being said, football is so close we can almost taste it. Except it doesn't taste great right now...that barbecue needs to smoke for a few more weeks. In this week's episode, DC3 makes a big divergence into (questionably) decent audio, and the guys are officially back. We think. Among our usual shenanigans, like Winners and Losers of the week (SPOILER: ART BRILES BACK), we dive into more offseason potpurri, the Tavien Feaster thing, and the most compelling or pivotal position battles on the horizon. We also roll into the first half of  WAY TOO EARLY  football season predictions...and it's going to go about how you would think it will go. *WARNING: our predictions are subject to change without notice or without even just cause...just 'cause.Rejoice! Football is coming! Anticipation is high! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! Enjoy the show!

  • The GABACast, Episode 125: Talkin' Bout Talkin' SZN

    19/07/2019 Duration: 01h09min

Greetings, sports fans! We're back again with the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast in existence. In this week's episode, the gang's all here as Sam, Alex, and DC3 dive into the goofy spectacle that is SEC Media Days. From who's going to be the most entertaining, to the most Saban-like, we've got talkin' season covered like Waffle House hashbrowns. Speaking of talkin' season, we also discuss what we've been doing to pass the time during the offseason. There's also #TAEKS on recruiting (and decommitting), the upcoming season, and our signature GABACast divergent nonsense talk (which is what you really came here for, be honest). Aside from that, we do give a shoutout to two folks we've lost recently, Jared Lorenzen and Tyler Skaggs. RIP, both of y'all. We laugh, we forget what we're doing, we even get into our feelings a little bit. We hope y'all enjoy the show.cLiCk HeRe To FiNd Us On ItUnEs (REVIEW US POR FAVOR) or just mash the play button below.  DSGCTYW

  • The GABACast, Episode 124: CLICK CLACK WE'RE BACK

    03/07/2019 Duration: 01h20min

REMEMBER US?!?! Well, apparently we thought that the football offseason meant we could take a break, too, but that doesn't mean that the only South Carolina Gamecocks podcast in existence has been dormant this whole time. We've just been, you know, doing stuff.During our hiatus, we've added some new members to the GABACast staff, which means you're going to get better, more consistent, but still overwhelmingly mediocre content from your trusted source for Gamecock sports banter.THIS WEEK ON THE SHOW:We take a minute to explain why we've been absent for a hot minute, and catch up on things since we last recorded. We try and really think about why we're mad at Steve Spurrier (like WE USED TO ACTUALLY PLAY THIS VIDEO BEFORE GAMES Y'ALL). There's a little recap of the end of the baseball and basketball seasons. No we don't talk about Tennis, but we do talk about cornhole. We also try and offer a little offseason perspective on where both programs are heading (SPOILER: we do not want to fire anyone). We also try a

  • The GABACast, Episode 123: REMEMBER US?!

    26/01/2019 Duration: 58min

Good morning!Full disclosure, this podcast was not uploaded in a timely manner. You're already used to that sort of thing. There have been some new South Carolina Gamecock sports moments since then, including another men's basketball victory over a ranked opponent, Ty'son Williams' decision to enter the #TRANSFERPORTAL, baseball stuff, and an impressive showing by Deebo Samuel in Senior Bowl prep. Whatever, we're the only Gamecock sports podcast in existence so time is relative to us anyways. Moving along. We hope you enjoy the latest episode of the show, which includes, but is not limited to: if you were a zoo animal, what would it be?what would you put in your dream football ops center?thoughts on Thomas Brown and John Scott, Jr. basketball and the sunday scaries. All that, and much, much, more! We appreciate you all. Hope you enjoy the show.

  • The GABACast, Episode 122: NEW YEAR, NEW US.

    11/01/2019 Duration: 01h01min

Hope everyone had a stupendous Christmas/Hannukah/New Year/whatever, and you didn’t have to endure watching the Belk Bowl or the National Championship game or basically anything football related for the past month. Sports are dumb. We love them, but they’re dumb.We are so excited to be back from our long hiatus so you can continue to consume the content that you faithful fans have come to know, love, and expect from us on a regular basis. EXCEPT: this time we have to welcome a new member of the podcast crew. Shout-out to our new podcast editor and creative contributor [name redacted]. You know who you are and we hope y’all enjoy the fact that DC3 has been relieved of his editing duties. On to the football, we do, in fact cover a bunch of football (spoiler we recorded before the Clemson Tigers sunk the Alabama Crimson Tide’s battleship), including our winners and losers from bowl season, our takes on the demoralizing loss to the Virginia Cavvalies (still like you, @BelkBowl), and our review of the football seas

  • The GABACast, Episode 121: Why is everyone suddenly a Big 12 team?

    26/11/2018 Duration: 01h10min

Well, the South Carolina Gamecocks lost a very wild, weird game against the Clemson Tigers this past Saturday. The Gamecocks were out-manned, literally and figuratively, but played a much more competitive game than the scoreline indicated. Some exceptionally pedestrian play inside the redzone and a few gaffes in crucial third (and fourth) down situations ultimately sealed their fate, but not before Carolina’s offense hauled off for 600 yards of offense, led by a career performance from Jake Bentley. This podcast does not condone ever losing to Clemson in any capacity but there were some positive takeaways from Saturday night’s game.We go in depth on our takes from the Palmetto Bowl, but we also run through the rest of rivalry week to determine our winners and losers. Some highlights:why would anyone ever fight Kevin Faulk?Kendrick Rogers ridiculous catch against LSU.nobody played defense yesterday, not even Michigan. The FCS playoff is better.Les Miles to Kansas is actually good?We also do our best to preview

  • The GABACast, Episode 120: Chomped.

    14/11/2018 Duration: 59min

Despite being up 17 points in the third quarter, the University of South Carolina Gamecocks found a very creative/depressing way to lose to the Florida Gators this past Saturday. At the hand of Felipe Franks, Carolina watched a lead evaporate against yet another ranked conference opponent, ultimately falling 35-31. Now, the Gamecocks stand ready to face the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Mocs this coming Saturday. A win will make the Gamecocks bowl eligible for the third straight year and could set the stage for Will Muschamp to become the winningest South Carolina head football coach at this point in his career, ever. But, what do we make of all of this? The defense lost its mojo, the play-calling got so conservative Pat Buchanan wouldn’t vote for it, and the coaching staff had seemingly no answer for anything. So...how do the Gamecocks prepare for UTC this weekend, much less the Clemson Tigers in two weeks? Why don’t we podcast?!In this week’s episode, there are winners, and there are losers (Baylor’

  • The GABACast, Episode 119: Rebels Yell at Cloud.

    06/11/2018 Duration: 01h02min

So, the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Ole Miss Rebels temporarily traded places with Big-12 South teams, and somehow came out on top of a shootout in Oxford. That was a fun thing that wasn't stressful or frustrating or confusing in any way. Also, did you know that you can purchase stamps from a gas station? DC3 did not.In this week's podcast, your favorite triumvirate on the internet's only Gamecock sports podcast available anywhere on the internet tries to pull-apart the win over a high-powered Rebel offense, while still trying to wrap our heads around how the heck that's going to mean anything as Carolina rolls into Gainesville this weekend to square off against the Florida Gators. One thing is for certain: Jordan Ta'amu is legit. So is Deebo Samuel on kickoff returns.Bryan Edwards also might not be human. Parker White is [still] clutch.Okay, so that's four things, but whatever, deal with it.We also roll through our winners and losers of the week (spoiler: the Baylor Bears don't make the cut and DC3 goes

  • The GABACast, Episode 118: Topping Tennessee

    01/11/2018 Duration: 01h16min

That was a very strange football game. The South Carolina Gamecocks looked like a toddler trying to eat fettuccini for the first half of football against the Tennessee Volunteers. Then, without much warning, they suddenly turned into a team capable of playing both offense and defense with some degree of competence. Down 21-9, with barely a glimmer of hope on offense and no ability to stop Jarrett Guarantano on third down, the Cocks mounted two lightning fast scoring drives (made possible by some great play from Deebo Samuel, Rico Dowdle, and Ty'Son Williams, as well as an absolute missle of a pass from Jake Bentley to Bryan Edwards), to pull even at 24 points apiece. Then, the defense decided to join in on the fun, holding the Vols scoreless for the remainder of the game. Ultimately, a Parker White field goal put Carolina on top, 27-24, completing a very weird comeback that keeps the Gamecocks alive for the postseason. The team travels to Oxford this weekend to face off against the Ole Miss Rebels in a brunch

  • The GABACast, episode 117: Volunteering as Tribute.

    25/10/2018 Duration: 01h02min

First, there was BLOOD WEEK, and then there was last week. Who will lose in ridiculous fashion this week? Can it be Clemson? Please let it be Clemson. Just kidding, it's totally not going to be Clemson. that thing doesn't exist anymore. Despite this being an off-week for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks, there were plenty of things going on in the college football universe, including that thing where the Purdue Boilermakers turned the Ohio State Buckeyes into pesto. We touch on that, UVA playing in the ACC title game as a 20-point underdog, Mike Leach/Ed Orgeron 2020, and Nebraska's committed fanbase. We also apologize for making each of you watch really not good football games that we all suggested you watch, and we try to save face by previewing the perennial (shrug emoji) game that is USC vs. UT. We discuss everything from the implications of Jarrett Guarantano being injured or not injured or whatever, to the inevitable night game blackout that will literally and figuratively happen in Columbia o

  • The GABACast: Episode 116. The sky isn't falling, but it's close to the ground.

    17/10/2018 Duration: 01h38min

Let’s face it; we’ve all had bad days at work. Done stupid things, even. Not that we’d tell anyone about them.Moving on.The South Carolina Gamecocks squared off against the Texas A&M Aggies in a weirdly beautiful symphony of stupid miscues sprinkled in with brilliant overtures. Despite holding the ball for more than 41 minutes of game time, they only managed a three-point win after a botched onside kick left our strange new SEC step-brothers the opportunity to screw up the victory formation, which they almost did. This game had everything, but so did the rest of Week Seven. We all talk about that one week that has ALL of the upsets. This was BLOOD WEEK, Y’ALL! Except this week could’ve been so much worse. We talk about our losers (including COACH FIGHTS) and our winners (hint: gumbo is involved), and we even give y’all a glorious dose of the beautiful mess that is Paul Johnson’s band of misfit pirates. Bees. Whatever. Paul Johnson is a treasure.Licking our wounds doesn’t come close to describing this week

  • The GABACast, Episode 115: HOLD DAT TIGER.

    10/10/2018 Duration: 01h08min

On Saturday in Williams-Brice Stadium, the South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Missouri Tigers in a game that included an onside kick that wasn't an onside kick, a torrential rainstorm, yet another untimely missed field goal by mizzou, a blocked punt, a two-hour delay, and an even wilder final two minutes of game clock. We will attempt to make this podcast just as weird as the football game that happened this past weekend. In this week's episode, there are winners (see: Gloria Butler) and there are losers (LOL UFC), but most of all there are thoughts aplenty on the crazy train that is Gamecock Football. We dish on SCAR, the paper-thin line between defensive intensity and disobedience, our BMac problem on first down, and why Parker White might deserve a spot on our Mount Rushmore of Gamecock Football players. This is a good one. Buckle up. Gas pedal's on the right.

  • The GABACast. Episode 114: Fear the Thumb.

    03/10/2018 Duration: 01h24min

Well. That sucked. We all know that. A little bit of each of us shriveled up and died during that sad twenty play drive that ended in zero points to end the game last Saturday in BIG GROCERY STADIUM, but, let’s podcast about it anyways.FIRST. Let’s speak on something positive: what’s your single favorite thing about college football season? We gave our best attempt at feigning charm and optimism, and we hope you do too down in the comments.Okay, moving along. There are, as always, winners and losers. This week we give a shout out to Penn State, the whole dang USA, college football’s zombie team (UAB), and former baseball great and criminally underrated MLB player, Whit Merrifield. We also dive into the debacle under the lights in Lexington, where the Gamecocks successfully helped with the launch of yet another Heisman Trophy campaign, this time for Benny Snell Jr...we know...we’re sick of it too. We attempt to perform a semi-competent autopsy of Gamecock Football and try to find a semblance of a silver lining

  • The GABACast, Episode 113: Flush the Commode-DORE.

    25/09/2018 Duration: 52min

Derek Mason wanted a street fight; he wound up with an unlicensed cockfight in Nashville.  That was fun, but what does it all mean going forward? Not much. The next contest involves traveling to Lexington to meet one of the hottest teams in the Southeastern Conference: the Kentucky Wildcats. But we digress...In this week's episode, we roll through the winners and losers that didnt include the Cocks and the Dores. (hint, let's say a cetain someone is back for some more). We break down the pros and cons of USC's first conference win of the season. We also try to digress as much as possible, and hope you'll enjoy listening as much as we did recording. Happy Tuesday!

  • GABACast Episode 111: Marshall Week

    12/09/2018 Duration: 01h17min

Hey guys! We're back and, well, we're not in the greatest of moods. DC3 is mad at Barstool Sports, Alex is mad at the ACC refs from the Texas A&M vs. Clemson game, and I'm mad at Florida runningback for making a poorly timed announcement to transfer (AGAIN).Honestly, after that butt whooping the Georgia Bulldogs put on the South Carolina Gamecocks, we're just a little mad about everything. But hey! It's not all bad, right? Somehow DC3 saw some positives from the Georgia game and we also preview the upcoming matchup against the Marshall Thundering Herd (while also keeping an eye on Hurricane Florence). You can listen here, or on our iTunes page. Hey, and while you're there, make sure to subscribe and leave us a review (all 5 stars, plz). Thanks for listening and Go Cocks!Bonus: Obviously playing a football game Saturday is taking a backseat right now with Hurricane Florence bearing down on our coastline. Please stay safe out there and, if you're in harm's way, please evacuate and get somewhere safe. Also, h
