The boys are still minus Rantin' Rhonda due to scheduling conflicts at the Big Lots, but she will return next week (allegedly).You know who else wasn't here Sunday? The baseball team. In fact, they've not shown up on Sunday yet this year. That's okay though because they still took the series over Wright State, and won a couple of mid-week games. and because they requested those days off. No, they did. Remember? Hello, friends.Tonight we celebrate a tradition like no other: Gamecock sports teams letting us down. It's as old as time itself, heck, it might be older than time, but that's what makes us who we are.  This past week, the South Carolina Gamecocks suffered gut-wrenching setbacks in both men's and women's basketball while the baseball team endured a strange (but okay?) loss to a sattelite school for the University of North Carolina. Handwringing aside, this was a strange weekend to be a Carolina fan.So, what better way to cope with loss than to talk about it?Lets do that.This week, we go hard in the paint (like our basketball teams should've) and stop being nice guys and start getting real. Let's talk Basketball! The men's team is 4-0 in league play, something that hasn't happened since before cell phones were a thing, and they look to ride that momentum into a really crucial portion of the season. Wins against Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Tennessee are nice, but two key matchups await in the week ahead. The long-awaited return of Sindarius Thornwell saw the South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball team do something it hasn’t done since, like, before Crying Jordan: beat the University of Georgia in a basketball game. The team showcased their powerhouse defense, and held the Bulldogs’ to just 3 baskets from beyond the arc; it was exactly the way a Frank Martin team is designed to play. They followed that up with a come-from-behind victory in College Station against a very solid Texas A&M Aggies side that shot an eye-popping 67 percent from the floor in the first half. It’s safe to say that the Gamecocks are playing much better with the return of their stalwart guard, but just what does Thornwell’s presence mean for the team besides just being arguably the best player on the team? How does his return affect the Gamecocks still-alive NCAA Tournament hopes? What does the team need to do to realize those dreams?
