  • Taking a Leap and Nerding Out: ODO 120

    20/09/2018 Duration: 48min

With all the nerdery in the news this week, I decided to take a break from my normal ramblings and nerd out a little bit. This week saw trailers dropped for the upcoming Disney sequel, "Mary Poppins Returns." We also got the first trailer for the next film from Marvel studios, "Captain Marvel." And finally we got an announcement that Netflix would be working with the show's original creators to make a live-action series of "Avatar: The Last Air Bender." I take a small sidebar to inform you of a tragedy that struck a podcasting brother in the form of Hurricane Florence. And last but certainly not least, in Recommended Listening, I actually talk about a show that I edit. (No I'm not being paid to do it either.) This week's feature goes to "Leap Like Me" with Lisa Hoashi. • I Don't Care If My Voice Is Shot: ODO 119

    12/09/2018 Duration: 34min

Hey! I'm here this week and I sound like complete crap. Long story short, I've been sick, but I didn't want to miss another week. That being said, it's a shorter show. No Jackass of the Week, but I do get into what's had me so busy recently and what I really do love about being a podcast editor. Plus I wrap up with the week's Recommended Listening feature, Play Comics. -Recommended Listening- Play ComicsPlay Comics is a show that looks at video games based on comic properties and how faithful those games stay to the source material. -Promos and Shoutouts-Rough Giraffe PodcastPodcasts We Listen To Thank you to my Patreon supporters:Heather from "Sunshine and Powercuts"Lisa and Sam from "I Shake My Head"Donate at http://patreon.com/odddadout to get shoutouts and bonus content whenever I produce any.Subscribe to ODO at http://odddadoutpodcast.com/subscribeFollow me on social at:https://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout/ Hosted on Acast. • A Friendly Troll, Bad Cops, and A Rough Giraffe: ODO 118

    29/08/2018 Duration: 32min

Another week, another show where I don't have a jumping off point. But that quickly takes a turn into my revelation that, when it comes to my friendships, I'm kind of a troll. But I'm a friendly troll. In a long overdue Recommended Listening, this week I'm talking about the Rough Giraffe Podcast. And finally, the Jackass of the Week brings us a couple of Detroit police precincts who really need a lesson in communication.-Recommended Listening-Rough Giraffehttps://roughgiraffe.podbean.com/"Join Mum and Stacey for a quirky comedy podcast full of stories, facts and a wonky cat!" Take 1 part "Varmints," 1 part "The Story Behind," add a fist full of zany and a "wonky" cat and you get Rough Giraffe. I will admit that I was never really interested in this show. I had heard the name dropped several times in podcasting groups and on other podcasts, but I never really knew what it was, or what it was about. Man, am I kicking myself now. Stacey and "Mum" provide a plethora of useful facts and trivia, and a splash of hi

  • What's Falling Out Of My Head: ODO 117

    22/08/2018 Duration: 49min

This week's show comes as a direct side effect of my recent foray into professional podcast editing. Long story short, I have been using a new program for editing podcasts, but I had yet to try recording an episode on it. I literally just sat down and started talking. Of course whenever I do an audio test I start with the opening of the show, and it just progressed from there. You could say that this whole episode is as old school ODO as it gets. I had little if any idea what I was talking about, and I let my train of thought run off the tracks more times than I can remember. Considering I forget almost everything I say during an episode almost as soon as I press stop on the recording, that's saying something. What I do know is that I get into the reasons why I took a week off from the show, the growth of the ODO VP brand, and my insecurities about the overall value of the show to the listeners. For me, more than all the news and ramblings, the most important part of the show is the Recommended Listening seg

  • I'm Bad At Friends: ODO 116

    08/08/2018 Duration: 01h03min

This week I've got a quick-ish spot about the recent storm that hammered my neighborhood. In place of a full feature, for Recommended Listening I mention a couple shows I've just started listening to that will get a future feature. I've got a "Jackass" who's affair cost him millions. And I ramble on about my recent epiphany that I'm really just not very good with friends. -Recommended Listening- Luke Who's Talkinghttps://lukewhostalking.podbean.com/Rough Giraffehttps://roughgiraffe.podbean.com/ -Jackass Of The Week-Man Has To Pay $8.8 Million For Affair With Another Man's Wifehttp://www.odditycentral.com/news/texas-man-has-to-pay-8-8-million-for-seducing-another-mans-wife.html A Texas man has been ordered to pay $8.8 million after being sued for "alienation of affection," or in other words, having an affair with a married woman. After meeting the woman at a BMX stunt bike show put on by her husband, the pair had a lengthy affair which was frequently disguised as business trips or spa vacations paid for by the

  • Brown Skies, Back to School, and Books: ODO 115

    01/08/2018 Duration: 45min

Another week, another dust storm. Of course it happened right after I washed my van. It's the last week of Summer vacation before my boys go back to school and, as usual, the school supply list is utterly ridiculous. But we did seem to find a new tool to try and make our boys behave in the form of Lego Harry Potter. Plus, the launch of "Mole Hole Talk Radio." The release of The Story Behind book. I'm thinking about starting another podcast with interviews. And the proper return of the "Jackass of the Week" with a man too cheap to pay for a car wash.-Jackass Of The Week-Man Drives SUV Into River To Avoid Paying For Car Washhttp://www.odditycentral.com/videos/man-drives-suv-into-river-to-save-money-on-car-wash-instantly-regrets-it.html#more-64494-Mole Hole Talk Radio-http://moleholebroadcast.com/-The Story Behind book-http://thestorybehindbook.com/Sunshine and Powercutshttps://www.sunshineandpowercuts.com/Subscribe to ODO at http://odddadoutpodcast.com/subscribeFollow me on social at:https://www.twitter.com/odd

  • Summer Vacation and The Return of Sunshine: ODO 114

    25/07/2018 Duration: 01h16min

I'm back from our regular summer vacation, and I think I need another one. We always a good time, but, let's just put it this way, would you want to spend 20 hours in a van with 4 screaming boys? But now it's time to get back to work, back to business, and back to talking about myself because that's what I do here. Well, not just about myself. It's also time for another Sunshine Summit! -Summer VacationThis year was the smoothest, most efficient summer vacation we've had since moving to Arizona. My wife started planning the hotels back in January and this year we've finally found the best hotel that suits our needs. As a family of 4, we just have to have a suite with a full living room and kitchen in order to keep our sanity. The drive back to Texas was seriously the smoothest it's ever been. When we drive to Texas, we actually do it all in a single trip without any overnight stays. My wife and I just keep switching drivers while the other rests. This year we went for a little different plan. I drove in the b

  • Unicorns and Dust Storms: ODO 113

    11/07/2018 Duration: 01h01s

I'm in the final stretch leading in to our summer vacation and what do I do? I spend half the show talking about the weather. Summertime in Arizona means monsoons which means dust storms and thunderstorms. Funny thing is, we always seem to have stormy weather on our vacations. Of course it's not all about the weather. This week is my wife's birthday. Since her birthday is on a weekday, we decided to throw her a faguely Lisa Frank themed party over the weekend, complete with rainbow unicorn balloons. For Recommended Listening, I went back to a previously featured show that just came back from hiatus. • 4th of July and Jerkface Neighbors: ODO 112

    05/07/2018 Duration: 41min

This week for episode 112: In Recommended Listening I got to be a guest host for episode 40 of the Second Press Podcast, and I've got a jackass with fishy feet, but let's not forget what holiday just passed, I've gotta talk about my 4th of July. Happy Independence Day to all my American listeners! And to everybody else, hey! So once again I'm running behind this week, but in this case it can be directly related to the holiday. Long story short, since my wife was home, she decided we needed to spend the day being more productive and preparing for our upcoming vacation. Of course this meant cleaning, and going through lists, and shopping for the things missing from those lists.  But, let's not forget the fireworks. What is the 4th of July without fireworks? At this point in my life, less stressful. There has been a big movement in recent years to remind people that, in general, dogs and cats DO NOT like fireworks. This goes for my 10ish year old Labrador /Dalmatian, Emmitt, with gusto. He isn't a big fan of mos

  • Sometimes I Just Ramble: ODO 111

    28/06/2018 Duration: 51min

I've been so busy with podcast editing and working on business stuff that I just did not do much for news research this week. So I decided that I'm going to jump to the new format starting this week. At the same time, I have no clue what to talk about this week. It's a good old fashioned random rambling. I get into my struggle with not buying new recording equipment, my attempt at a work/work/life balance, sacrificing sleep to get more work done and how I've always just run that way. I get interrupted by Sam deciding to change his name for a few minutes, and I get mildly philosophical about my views on calling myself selfless. So much crazy stream of consciousness this week. I get geeky with this week's Recommended Listening feature, the Sometimes Geek podcast, and declare a bunch of health conscious festival goers the Jackass of the Week.Find The Sometimes Geek podcast at:http://www.sometimesgeek.com/Subscribe to ODO at http://odddadoutpodcast.com/subscribeFollow me on social at:https://www.twitter.com/oddda

  • ODO 110: Healthier Than I Thought

    20/06/2018 Duration: 01h10min

It's been a busy week at the newly dubbed ODO Voice Productions. Editing, meetings, and lots of forward momentum in business. Of course that doesn't mean that was all I had going on. It was a week, oddly, full of medical visits, but not in a bad way. In the news, it seems that everything revolves around death, if maybe only in the slightest way. Plus a couple of jackasses stopping traffic with their public "affection." And, I've got the results of my completely self serving twitter poll about what you like in the show. -BS From The News- -Woman Asks Delivery Driver To Kill SpiderA woman in the UK was so terrified of a spider on her wall that she actually called to order from a food delivery service in order to have the driver kill it for her. Fortunately for her, the driver wasn't also afraid of spiders and was able to capture the spider and flush it down the toilet. -Artist Gets Buried Alive For Three Days To Protest ViolenceA 73 year-old Australian performance artist, recently spent 3 days buried under one

  • ODO 109: Burgers, Salad, and Too Much Coco

    13/06/2018 Duration: 58min

Another week, another batch of weird news. From fake pet testicles to emoji fights, it's all over the place. This week IHOP painted a giant target on themselves with their name change, and, in Recommended Listening, I'm talking about what is probably the most ironic podcast I listen to, "Hate to Weight." Through it all, my boys are watching Disney's Coco for the 5... millionth... time. -BS From The News- -Man Makes Millions Selling Fake Dog TesticlesOne man has built his fortune on the idea that neutered pets should still look normal. Neuticles are silicone testicle implants for neutered animals who's owners wish for them to maintain their natural appearance. -"Real Barbie of Berlin" Gets Third Boob Job To 80L Bra SizeA Berlin model, who is obsessed with plastic surgery, has gotten her breasts enlarged to a whopping 80L cup size. She now claims to have the largest breasts in Germany. It was actually a dream of hers for each of her breasts to weigh more than 2kg. -Google Salad Emoji Update Has Egg Producers

  • ODO 108: Kinder Grads, Car Trouble, and Conspiracies

    06/06/2018 Duration: 01h08min

So last week was super busy. Between Kindergarten graduation, my brother in town, and other family events, I just didn't have time to record a new episode. It was fun but busy. Aaannnd then Saturday night hit, and my weekend turned from great to crap on a dime. In the news I've got a 15 minute marriage, skipping work to be a god, and some very adult puppets getting in trouble with their friendlier cousins. The Jackass of the Week goes to a plastic surgeon who needs to spend some time behind bars instead of in front of a camera. Finally in Recommended Listening, it's time to get our conspiracy on with Hysteria 51.-BS From The News--Man Divorces Wife Less Than 15 Minutes After WeddingA man in Dubai set the record for shortest marriage after he divorced his new bride in under 15 minutes. • ODO 107: I Don't Need To Be Rich

    25/05/2018 Duration: 58min

The Livestream For The Cure is over and they managed to raise over $11,000 for the Cancer Research Institute. I've got a small sidebar about my son and coffee, and this week I came to realization that I don't really want to be rich. The news brings some questionable headlines, an irritable barber, and an absent-minded astronaut. At long last, the time has come for this week's Recommended Listening feature: Who's Right w/ Doug and Anthony. -Recommended Listening-Who's Right? • ODO 106: Beers, Bears, Pizza, And Plumbing

    16/05/2018 Duration: 01h04min

Once again I do not have the Epic Film Guys on the show and it's totally my fault this time. My brain is all over the place this week. From Livestream For The Cure, to wanting to get into podcast editing and voiceover work, to home plumbing issues. It's been a busy week. I've got an SMF news break from Mike Jolitz, beer that's not beer, a pizza festival without pizza, a family dog that's not a dog and more. For Recommended Listening I'm talking more about the Livestream For The Cure and the Hello Cancer WTF campaign for Perry Johnson and how you can help. -BS From The News- -New "Beer" Is Zero Calorie, Zero Alcohol, and Completely ClearAll Free All Time is a new "beer" that is zero calorie, zero alcohol, and completely clear. It's being marketed to those who enjoy the taste of beer but don't want any of the negative stigma associated with it. -All You Can Eat Pizza Festival Runs Short Of PizzaAfter an oven broke at an all you ca eat pizza festival, organizers left guests waiting for up to an hour to get a si

  • ODO 105: I'm Not A Doctor, But I Play One On YouTube

    10/05/2018 Duration: 01h03min

I know I promised an Epic Film Guys guest spot this week, but sometimes schedules don’t work out the best. I get into why I've got 2 shows that dropped this week. And I share my experience just a few days ago with my 4 year old and a scorpion. I've also got an SMF News break from Mike Jolitz, and a very full news segment on my own with a lot of tales of YouTube doctoring. And finally in recommended listening, I've got a very straightforward movie podcast featuring 2 movie professionals from Australia, "We Watched A Thing." Hosted on Acast. • ODO 104: Cancer Sucks Noodles

    08/05/2018 Duration: 32min

I’ve been in kind of a funk lately. Leading up to the Livestream For The Cure, a number of my friends, some of them involved in the event, have been slapped by the evil bastard that is cancer. So I talk about that for a bit. Short show this time around. I originally didn’t intend to release this episode but changed my mind. Not a lot of laughs. To lighten things up I continue with my coverage of LFTC guest with this week’s featured podcast, Who Spiked The Puns?http://odddadoutpodcast.com/odo-104Matt and Becky Heyman’s Cancer Catch-up:https://www.gofundme.com/matt-beckys-cancer-catchupMatt Heyman from PreRecorded Live, has now been struck for the third time with cancer in under 10 years. • ODO 103: Total Chaos w/ Mike Jolitz

    26/04/2018 Duration: 01h08min

This week I am joined by my first ever remote guest, my Surprise Mfers brother, Mike Jolitz. Much less an interview and more just a couple buddies having a chat, we somehow cover all of the regular show segments. Of course, things get derailed far more easily than in regular episodes and there's way more toilet humor. We talk podcasting, news, comedy, kids, teachers, military experience, and more. Of course we get interrupted by kids, and dogs, and all other sorts of "Mr. Mom" type racket. And finally, we wrap up with one of Mike's favorite podcasts, Afterburn 739.-BS From The News- Woman Puts Fake Tickets On Car To Avoid Real OnesA woman in China came up with a genius(?) idea for avoiding parking tickets. She just put a fake one on her car ahead of time. She would place a fake parking ticket on her windshield in order to trick police out of giving her another one. • ODO 102: "Now That I'm Older" I Have Allergies

    18/04/2018 Duration: 58min

Spring has sprung, at least in Arizona, and I'm definitely feeling it. I can't really say the same for the rest of the country. The news has been pretty random this week. No real theme, just lots of oddity. I've got Tarantula burgers, bad jokes, and even a couple drug smugglers. And in "Recommended Listening" it's time to look back at our childhood with "Now That I'm Older." -BS From The News- Restaurant Serves Tarantula BurgerA North Carolina restaurant is currently offering up a $30 burger made from pasture-raised North Carolina beef, gruyere cheese, and an oven-roasted tarantula topped with spicy chili sauce. If you want to try the spider sandwich, you must enter a raffle and be selected to get one. If you successfully eat the tarantula burger, you get a t-shirt. Man Bought A Used Car For A Trip Because It was Cheaper Than Train TicketA London man, outraged with the extreme price of train tickets, bought a used car to drive 100 miles to visit a friend. • ODO 101: Old Reliable "Idiots"

    12/04/2018 Duration: 01h08min

We're back to "normal" this week. At least as normal as things really get around here. I've been spending a lot of time working on building the website and the patreon for the show. Of course that means I haven't been nearly as productive as I'd have liked to have been. But we did get a new Shark. That's exciting right? The news this week gets us back to those standard stories of drugs, bad judgement, and plain old stupidity. The "Jackass of The Week" puts a new twist on the old excuse, "it's not mine." Finally, in Recommended Listening, I'm getting back to guests from the Livestream For The Cure with another Phoenix based show: BSP: The Idio[t]Syncracy Files. -BS From The News- Viral Condom Snorting Challenge Isn't Actually A TrendThe newest viral challenge trending from YouTube is neither new nor trending. It turns out that the "Condom Challenge" that has been making the rounds through news outlets recently, actually stems from a teachers' education course that used videos of teens snorting condoms through
