Episodes

  • Episode 100!!!

    04/04/2018 Duration: 01h13min

After nearly 2 and a half years I have reached episode 100 of the podcast and I spend a ton of time just vamping about it. I talk about how the show started, how the format grew and changed over time, and how I got to where I am now. I get answer email questions from podcast friends from around the world, and just soak in the fact that I have finally reached such a milestone. Hosted on Acast. • ODO 99: Have I Mentioned I'm Easily Distracted?

    28/03/2018 Duration: 56min

Once again I'm behind this week on account of my being easily distracted by different things. I've been trying out recording music and building a new website for the show (which was a total bust.) The news brings in oblivious archaeologists, militant vegans, and some people seriously manipulating their faith. I drop in a little #NiceGuyAdam segment, and in lieu of a podcast feature, I'm talking about the Livestream For The Cure 2.0 coming up May 18-20. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 98: More "Stupider" Than

    21/03/2018 Duration: 01h13min

I'm feeling a little out of sorts this week. Maybe it's because I'm recording on tuesday. Maybe it's because the boys and ReAnna are home all week on spring break. Either way I just feel weird. But I did have a very scenic weekend of driving for work. All that driving made me realize how much I love landscapes. Chris the Mole Man brings his unique kind of tribute to the passing of Stephen Hawking. The news is loaded with all kinds of stupidity from golden dog jackets to putting a hit on a hitman. Finally, I kick off the Road to the Livestream For The Cure, with PodFix members "More Gooder Than." -WEIRD NEWS- -Crypto-Mining Rig Doubles As Space HeaterA French company has developed a cryptocurrency mining system that uses the heat generated by it's 2 internal graphics cards to warm the surrounding room. • ODO 97: A Story For Every Story

    14/03/2018 Duration: 01h11min

It's been a fun week around the Odd house. I've decided I want to start writing more for the blog. I'm trying to do more with the Facebook group. We took the family to the food truck festival. I got to be a part of the Sunshine Summit 2018 and hang out in the live streams. And it seems that I have some sort of personal story for every news story this week, except for one. -WEIRD NEWS- -Scientists Create Eye Drops That May Repair VisionScientists in Israel claim to have created a solution of nano-particles that can repair damaged corneas and correct both near and far sightedness. • ODO 96: What Were You Thinking?

    07/03/2018 Duration: 56min

This week I'm wrapping up my series on the guests for the Sunshine Summit 2018 with Jilanne Holder from the Business Mum Community Facebook Group, Emily Prokop from The Story Behind podcast and E Podcast Productions, Nick Haskins from the Epic Film Guys and RestauRant podcasts, Gareth Thomas from Gareth's Random Ramblings, and Bandrew Scott from the Bandrew Says podcast and Podcastage Youtube channel. The news brings a whole lot of people that simply beg the question, "What were you thinking?" And I share the harrowing tale that was... digging through my garage. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 95: Sex, Death, and Even More Sunshine

    01/03/2018 Duration: 01h09min

I'm continuing my series featuring the guests of the Sunshine Summit 2018 with Chris from "The Podcasting Couch," and Lindsay and Perry Johnson of "Hello Life WTF" and "The Pod Stuff." Somehow the news all came up death and sex. Whether it's fake death, real death, sexy stuff after death... I don't make the theme, it just happens that way. Going with that theme, I share my feelings about "sexy shower time" and how it's nothing like it looks in movies. -WEIRD NEWS- Drug Suspect On Nearly 40 Day "Poop Strike" May DieA man suspected of eating a large amount of heroin and crack cocaine has gone nearly 40 days (at the time of posting) without defecating. • ODO 94: Everything Is Not What It Seems

    22/02/2018 Duration: 01h04min

Everything comes with a twist this week. According to the facebook groups, I'm not that much of an asshole. In podcast land I'm a nice guy. I don't know how that happened but let's roll with it. With that in mind, I'm throwing a twist into things and starting a series in "Recommended Listening" featuring all of the guests of the upcoming Sunshine and PowerCuts "Sunshine Summit 2018" leading up to the event. All of the news this week comes with a bit of a twist in each story. From movie theaters, to drug dealers, to severed fingers, "everything is not what it seems." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 93: Hearts, Hoops, And A Whole Lot Of Stupid

    14/02/2018 Duration: 58min

Happy Valentine's Day! My wife made me not only buy her a gift, but have it delivered to her at work. She also bought me a gift when I told her not to, so I guess we're even. We had a great family trip to see the World Championship Hoop Dancing competition in Phoenix this weekend, and everyone had a blast. I took a poll to crown the "Jackass of the Week." Finally, since I seem to be throwing format out the window this month, I chat about the upcoming Sunshine Summit 2018 being put on by Heather from Sunshine and PowerCuts. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • Corrections and Apologies

    10/02/2018 Duration: 01min

Hi everyone, I have an announcement to make. I have made a huge mistake that has put a strain on my marriage. In the latest episode of my podcast, Odd Dad Out (episode 92 "Football, Fish Tanks and Karen & Ellen") at the 5 minute, 10 second mark, I misspoke and called my wife a Dallas Cowboys fan. Please know that my wife is not now, nor has she ever been a Dallas Cowboys fan. My wife is a beautiful, smart, funny woman who is nothing short of amazing. She's an Oakland Raiders fan of course, because they play real football, and the Cowboys have and always will, suck. I know the emotional damage from the kind of slander I directed at my wife can never be undone and all I can do is offer my deepest, sincerest apologies for the mistake I have made. ReAnna, I love you. Go Raiders. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 92: Football, Fish Tanks, and Karen & Ellen

    08/02/2018 Duration: 01h06min

I'm running a little behind this week, oddly enough on account of the SuperBowl. Between yard work, house work, work work, a Super Bowl party, and kids dr appointments, I didn't have a lot of time for podcasting. On top of that we're testing out a change in my diet of the lactose-free variety. I skip the news on account of extended story time save for the Jackass Of The Week. Finally, I get a little help from Chris from the "More Gooder Than" podcast with this week's featured show: The Karen & Ellen Letters. -JACKASS OF THE WEEK- -High School Senior Arrested Over Animal Abuse VideoAn idiotic high school senior is now facing felony animal abuse charges after a video was posted showing him throwing a crying kitten into a body of water. -RECOMMENDED LISTENING-The Karen & Ellen Lettershttps://karenandellen.podbean.com/"The Karen & Ellen Letters is a true tale of two girls, their found correspondence, and a journey deep into cognitive dissonance. • ODO 91: Camels and Peacocks and Ghosts, Oh My!

    31/01/2018 Duration: 01h18s

As usual, I'm generally tired. This week though I have a better than normal reason. I've got a jam packed news segment ranging from camel botox to "emotional support peacocks." A couple stories throw me into kind of mini rants including the "Jackass Of The Week." This week's featured podcast comes from the host of a previously featured show. It's the return of Darel "Big D" Smith and his wife, Cindy, with Smoke and Mirrors.-WEIRD NEWS- -Woman Gets Death Threats For Wanting Breast ReductionA 20 year old woman from Scotland has been receiving death threats after starting a GoFundMe to pay for breast reduction surgery. • ODO 90: "I Shake My Head" At Tide Pods and Jury Duty

    24/01/2018 Duration: 01h06min

This week I'm following up on my tales of jury duty from the last show, and I share a little about my weekend experience in the snow. The news ranges from a cheating marathon runner and abusive doctor, to "unnatural" cow sex." Of course I have to rant about the Tide Pods thing. And In Recommended Listening, we're having fun in the car with "I Shake My Head w/ Lisa and Sam." Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 89: Jury Duty and A Trip To China

    17/01/2018 Duration: 01h06min

Good news everyone! I've got jury duty this week! And it's not the first time either. Somehow the news took me on a strange trip through China. Even the Jackass of the Week goes there with a guy who thinks tofu is only for vegans. Then I lighten things up and learn something as I'm joined by a couple very special guests to talk about this week's featured podcast: Varmints. -WEIRD NEWS- -Honk Kong Man Makes Tiny Houses From Concrete PipesAn architect in Honk Kong, one of the most populous cities in the world, has created a tiny house from old concrete water pipes. • ODO 88: Did I Mention I'm Dumb?

    10/01/2018 Duration: 01h03min

The boys are back in school, it's back to normal around the house, and I just keep doing things that demonstrate that I'm not always that bright. I've got a packed news week including frozen animals, hippie water, and things being found in bodies that just shouldn't be there. With all that variety of twisted stuff, this week's Recommended Listening feature goes to "Twisted Philly." -WEIRD NEWS- -It's Too Cold Out For Penguins In CalgaryThe Calgary Zoo has had to bring their flock of King penguins indoors because the extreme weather conditions may be too cold for the birds. • New Year, Same Stupidity: ODO 87

    03/01/2018 Duration: 01h09min

Happy New Year! This week's news shows that just because the year is new, doesn't mean that the stupidity has changed one bit. I've got an ignorant burglar, an idiotic driver, a bunch of people who just didn't get a joke, and even more stupidity. Plus I rattle on about New Year's and my birthday and all the little side tangents that those take me to. In Recommended Listening I've got something a little spooky, a little creepy, and a whole lot of silly with "The Unseen Hour." -WEIRD NEWS- -Polar Plunge Postponed Due To Cold WeatherThe annual Polar Plunge in Hyannis, Massachusetts has been postponed because it's just too cold to watch. • Yule Time, Christmas Shopping, and New Ideas For 2018: ODO 86

    29/12/2017 Duration: 01h08min

This week I'm breaking format completely. No news, no Jackass Of The Week, no Recommended Listening. I'm going old school for the last show of the year and just vamping. I get into my returning to work while healing from my rib injuries, what we did for our Yule holiday, checking out Christmas lights, trying to go shopping on Christmas Day, and what I want to do with the show for next year. In 2018 I would like to start using the Recommended Listening segment to feature podcast submissions from listeners. I can only suggest so many shows personally, and I want to hear what you are listening to. Send me you recommendations/ reviews either written or in audio form to odddadout@gmail.com. I am turning the segment over to you, dear listener. As a bonus, if you submit a feature to me for the show, I will put all of those together and draw one out to win some Odd Dad Out Swag. Happy New Year! I hope to see you in 2018. Thank You and Goodnight... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • ODO 85: I Wish You An Odd Christmas

    21/12/2017 Duration: 53min

Since Christmas is coming up next week, and the news has a serendipitous way of picking my show themes, this week I'm talking all about Christmas. Around Our house we don't exactly do "Christmas." We celebrate Yule, which is the holiday that most Christmas traditions originate from. The news brings tales of twisted stuffing, Christmas eyebrows, tiny cows and more. In place of a regular "Recommended Listening" segment, I'm serving up a list of slightly twisted holiday episodes from some of my favorite podcasts. -HOLIDAY LISTENING-Couch Potato FilesTwisted PhillyHysteria 51The Countdown Movie and TV ReviewI Shake My Head w/ Lisa and SamPoplar CoveGareth's Random Ramblings Hosted on Acast. I'm back, and not dead! I've got the whole long WTF story of my illness and injury that led to my hiatus. This week it's all about the "fake" news. I've got fake snow, fake cats, and even fake parents. This week's "Jackass of the Week" goes to a woman with a bedbug problem. Finally, in "Recommended Listening" I've got one of my new creepy favorites, it's Southern Grimoire. -Promos And Shout-Outs-Couch Potato FilesMike Jolitz ShowCountdown Movie and TV ReviewPodcasts We Listen ToSunshine and Power CutsThe Story BehindMore Gooder Than*Full show notes and links at http://bit.ly/ODO84 Hosted on Acast.
