Jess Myers joins Steve Thomson to help make sense of a slow start to the Minnesota Wild season. Jess touches on what HC John Hynes has said about the style of play they’re struggling to find, the lack of scoring production and the challenge of back to backs.

Every Saturday at 4:07pm the meeting of the Steves commences. He pulled in a bunch of walleyes this morning but has had to thaw out in front of the fire which inspires him to share a deer story from the week. Carney also shares that he's not so good at reading directions. Also, Steve still doesn't know where the ducks are... he's still looking.

It's about to turn the corner to crunch time of the college football season. Steve Thomson and Jonathan Lowe run down the scores from all over. We hear game reports on the regional matchups. And Steve also gets to some scores from Round 2 of the Prep football playoffs.

After a lengthy road trip, including several games out East, the Wild return to St. Paul for a Saturday tilt with Utah. Pioneer Press reporter Jess Myers looks at what the team can do to turn around a string of poor results.

He joins Steve Thomson to break down the Gophers big win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers last night and the defensive performance that delivered them the victory. They touch on the upcoming game against the Iowa Hawkeyes and winding down the a successful season for the Minnesota Loons.

Jess Myers from the Pioneer Press joins from the Minnesota Wild’s east coast roadie that stops in Philly tonight. He breaks down the first two games of the roadie, both were lost. Jess and Steve also talk Philly sports fans and Gopher vs NoDak rivalry.

Our weekly meeting of the Steves has arrived. Carney says the fishing is awesome right now, he’s finding lots of fish in deep water but is surprised at the lack of other fishers. Duck season is still bad but deer hunting is picking up. Steve has one tag left and he’s saving it for (hopefully) a buck. He anticipates “go time” this week for those of you who love a deer stand.

Jess Myers covers the Minnesota Wild for the Pioneer Press. The Wild kicked the jazz out of the Blues 5-0 to open their season and have their first game at home tonight. Jess talks about all of the alumni around the arena for the organization’s 25th anniversary, Jonas Brodin making his debut and young players making an early impression.

Every Saturday at 4:07pm the meeting of the Steves commences. Carney said the fishing has been great this week but the ducks have been basically nonexistent. He also details the doe he took down this week and how clean the arrow was. Deer season has been slow early but Carney thinks that will change soon once the bucks start fighting.

Steve Carney makes his weekly appearance with Steve Thomson. He’s been struggling this week with the weather and the wind. He hasn’t had much luck hunting the deer or the ducks. He thinks the heat is a huge factor in this tepid season so far. Steve also asks about the upcoming turkey opener… Steve likes eating the smaller birds rather than the bigger (tougher meat). They note the resiliency of the turkey and how many more they’re seeing in places they weren’t inhabiting a few decades ago. Steve also notes that corn being cut down soon will force the deer to finally get movin’. Steve, Lindsey and Jonathan discuss a bombastic week in the WNBA and where the business is headed. Steve Carney joins Steve Thomson fresh off some geese and duck hunting. Steve says the duck numbers are down this year but the wild rice harvest is NOT. He also credits the weather for being the reason why the deer aren't moving much yet. He can't wait for October and cooler temps to arrive.
