We begin 2017 with a podcast featuring guest Dr. Salman Hussain, Coordinator of TEEB, and hosted by Yannick Beaudoin, Chief Scientist for GRID-Arendal. Dr. Salman Hussain is the Coordinator of The Economics of Ecosystems & Biodiversity (“TEEB”). Based in Geneva, Switzerland, at the International Environment House, the TEEB office is hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) under the Economics and Trade Branch (ETB) of the Economy Division. Salman was a contributing author to the TEEB reports launched in 2010 and has also coordinated the quantitative assessment for TEEB, a global scale study integrating environmental valuation with Geographic Information System mapping. In the 2016 “Below the Surface” podcast, LP discusses coastal ecosystem services with the legendary Margaret Davidson. Margaret has been working in “ecosystem services” since 1978. She is a lawyer and holds a master’s degree in marine policy and resource economics form the University of Rhode Island. Early in her career, she served as special counsel and assistant attorney general for the Louisana Department of Justice and, from 1983 to 1995, she was the executive director of the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium.
