Today is a special day… 2 years ago, on this very day, I was wrapping up my last day of a 10+ year career at my 9-5 job. It was a small team (only 3 of us at the time) and you know what I remember most about that day? I remember it was particularly unspectacular. No good-bye lunch. No party planning committee. No ice cream cake. No fan-fare. No, in fact I don’t even remember getting so much as a good-bye from the other team members. It was remarkably unremarkable. I don’t remember a lot more from that day, to be honest. It had been a long month transitioning out of the job and preparing for a brand new venture. It’s cold in January in Colorado (thank you Captain Obvious!) but I remember the sun on my face as I strolled to my car. I dropped my bag in the trunk of my ‘04 Maxima and headed home; a cocktail of excitement, adrenaline, fear and uncertainty swirling in my stomach. ==== That was the beginning of the roller coaster entrepreneurial journey. Something has shifted in the last few weeks. Things are going faster and getting better. A small crowd had formed over me, holding my son's limp body. Seconds earlier he was laying on a dog bed fashioned as a cot to keep his cold body off the cold concrete. "Someone call an ambulance!" an onlooker shouted. "Give them room!" exclaimed another. "What's the point?" Ever ask yourself this? Like, you're in the middle of an activity, conversation, or buying decision, and you wonder what's the point of this thing?  For me, the trouble starts at the gym. The point of the gym (for me) is to gain more lean muscle mass and clear my head. So when I muddy that "purpose" with check email, socialize, check social, make an epic playlist, listen to audiobooks... everything suffers. The workout suffers because I'm taking too long in between sets. The drive home suffers because I want to close the loop I opened in the audiobook I was listening to so I sit in the garage for an extra 20 minutes.  This is one of the biggest known fears... public speaking. Most people would literally rather die than have to deliver a speech in public. But what if we were looking at "stages" all wrong?
