Is your deep inner work holding you back?
11/02/2023 Duration: 15minIs your deep inner work a help or a hindrance? I am fascinated by the way our unmet needs show up in how we live love and work. I am especially interested in how they impact our work as what we do to make a living has a huge impact on our lives! The whole 12 + we spend in school is all about preparing us for the world of work. In this episode I am sharing some thoughts on the way 'deep inner' work can be resistance and a subconscious attempt to re-enact familiar patterns from childhood. If your deep inner work is keeping you stuck, it's holding you back. I'd love to hear how this landed with you. P.s. I am hosting a 2 day online event to help you stop (over)thinking and start doing. Healing for growth vs healing as resistance with Ruthie Zerai Semere
22/11/2022 Duration: 01h05minHello you, welcome to the first interview in my recently rebranded podcast! Today I am joined by the wonderful life and business coach Ruthie Zerai Semere. In this conversation, Ruthie and I talk about the difference between healing for growth and healing as a ruse for resistance. This conversation was inspired by a conversation Ruthie and I had about the ways we have seen the people we work with unconsciously avoid taking action because they get stuck in their healing process. We explored the reasons why this may occur and how protective patterns from childhood impact our growth or avoidance. We also touch on our experience as daughters of immigrants and how our blackness affects our approach to healing and growth work. Of course we talk about the ways in which our toxic productivity and people pleasing served us and why it had to be released in order for us to embody our healthiest adult selves. It's a really gorgeous conversation. I am delighted to share it with you. About Ruthie: Ruthie

Childhood adaptations. Adult limitations.
12/09/2022 Duration: 41minIn this episode I share how childhood adaptations become maladaptive in adulthood. The way we learn to cope with caregivers that aren't meeting our need to be whole can look like what we call self sabotage and limiting beliefs in adulthood. However they are maladaptive coping strategies and protection mechanisms. These patterns of behaviour can make out attempts to grow and develop our businesses feel like a threat and trigger our learnt survival responses. Ultimately these things limit our ability to develop self-belief - our beliefs shape our reality. On Friday 23rd September I will be teaching a masterclass about the skill of self belief and practical ways to create new beliefs at my Embody Your Future NOW mini virtual retreat - plus a whole lot more. The safety of connection
07/12/2021 Duration: 27minAnother day another podcast! Today I am talking about the difference between the protective pattern of attachment that enables us to survive and connection that allows us to feel safe. At the end I asked these questions: What does safety mean to you? What does safety feel like in your body? What sensations tell you you’re safe, where do you feel them? Who are you with when you feel these sensations of safety? Where are you when you feel them? What are you doing? I mention Sadie Tichelaar, Gabriella Espinonsa the Non-Linear Movement Method, Billy Ocean. I also mention my Sovereign group coaching experience which is open for enrolment until Friday 17th December 2021. Details here.

Witness the bigness
05/12/2021 Duration: 12minI have had a number of conversations with women about struggling to find a coach, mentor, therapist that can hold their 'bigness'. These are often sensitive women, even though they may not view themselves that way. They tend to have big energy, big feelings, big emotions, big views, big wisdom, big power but don't know how to hold and channel it. This is usually because we are conditioned to play small and not be too much. This feeds into feeling like you are simultaneously too much and not enough. As such this can create an environment where people say that they were unable to work with whichever helping professional because they couldn't handle how big they are. However, when I think about my life experience and coaching practice what I think is happening is that people with big feelings etc are under-skilled and unable to hold their power as they, like most of us have been conditioned to play small. As such, they unconsciously make other people responsible for their bigness. This way they c

The fear of what we desire most.
01/12/2021 Duration: 36minI am back with a rebranded podcast. Today I am exploring fearing what we desire most and how this can lead to self-abandonment. "Abandoning ourselves to care for others makes us lonely and reduces our capacity to truly give and receive love. It’s a pattern that’s incredibly hard to identify because it is a sophisticated shapeshifter that can provide immediate gratification and at times makes us feel righteous". I invite you to join me in providing an olive branch to hurts we have internalised by engaging in an exercise to offer healing to a (light) wound from the past. Big up to my friends Cee and Sareta who inspired me to stop waiting to restart my podcast when I listened to their new podcast, "Women Who Rebrand" I mentioned Peter Levine, listen to him talk about trauma here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1RnTipiU_Q Connect with me on Social media here.
