  • Week 18 - My Meditation Journey - Part 1

    01/05/2023 Duration: 09min

WEEK 18 - My Meditation Journey - Part 1 All the links are at https://linktr.ee/barbarafaison Guess what y'all? It’s National Meditation Month… I get a little geeky about this because meditation has been such an important part of my life since the 90’s. I started meditating because I was struggling and tired of the struggle. Back then there was no YouTube or podcasts or any of the really cool technology that we have now. I bought Shakti Gawain’s CASSETTE TAPE called Creative Visualization which was a 30 minute program. I thought I was going to EXPLODE. Trying to sit and visualize for me was very stressful. You see, when someone walks me through a beautiful visualization practice, I don’t see a thing, just the black behind my eyelids. Lol Meditation is such a personal practice. Some people see images, others are really impacted by sounds and other people, like me, are more connected to feelings and sensations when they practice. • Week 17 - The Power of Books

    24/04/2023 Duration: 06min

All the links are at https://linktr.ee/barbarafaison Week 17 - The Power of Books I have had a love affair with words since I was a child. I suspect being the daughter of a teacher and a librarian, I got it in the womb. Communicating has been my go to my whole life: writing, speaking, the performing arts. I found out that world book day was yesterday, so happy belated world book day. I don’t think it is ever too late to share how powerful books can be in our lives. My father and mother both loved to read. I grew up reading, mostly fiction, and my father read a lot of nonfiction. I began writing poetry in high school in my English class because we had to. Thank you Mrs. DeLoach! I was introduced to Nikki Giovanni by my dad and I fell in love with poetry. I found my voice and I wrote poetry through high school and college. After college I started writing short stories and submitted to publications for a few years and I decided I wanted to write a novel about a young black woman in her twenties who was in

I’ve had some type of business since 1999 when I self-published my book, Why Struggle? life is too short to wear tight shoes. In 2017, I left my last “full-time” corporate job after a total of 33 years working and I continued on my journey of entrepreneurship with new products and services. .... • Week 15 - A Delightful Day!

    10/04/2023 Duration: 06min

All the links are here Week 15 - A Delightful Day! As a young child I was confused about a lot of things regarding religion. it made no sense to me that there was only one way to get to what we called God. This weekend and about every 30 years there is a rare crossover of Easter, Passover and Ramadan. Guess What! Warning...THIS post is NOT GOING to BE about any of that. I am going to share how following my guidance to reach out to my friend Kym was the beginning of a delightful day. It started with this 8:50 a.m. text. Me: Are you going to Hillside today? We are trying to get there. Kym: No…gonna watch it on tv. Maybe I’ll come… either way you should stop by after. Kym lives right down the street from the church, Hillside International Truth Center, where we met over 15 years ago. You may have heard me talk about Kym before if you've been around me for awhile. Kym Kennedy is a radical forgiveness coach and spiritual teacher and awesome person. My hubby, TD, and I made it to church and really enjoyed the

  • Week 14 -  What New Things Are You Doing?

    03/04/2023 Duration: 06min

All links - linktr.ee/barbarafaison Week 14 -  What New Things Are You Doing? How are you doing? I must say, I was energized and exhausted after last week's VO Atlanta conference where I was in person with over 800 people. That's of a lot of peopling... Yes, I do believe that is a well know made up word. My version of it is... being around people and having to be engaged. In my earlier decades, I loved being out and about so much that I would have changes of clothes in my car and I would be ready for an impromptu salsa dancing outing or meeting up with friends. You might be thinking... Barbara, you are an extrovert. Yes, that can be true and I also have become more of a selectively social extrovert. I found this happening before the pandemic. I enjoy people AND I also enjoy being alone or at home. I call this selective extrovertness, yes, another made up word. we can do that now, it's 2023!  I knew I would need to do something to get myself back into balance after 4 days of some serious peopling.

  • Week 13 - How are You Supporting Others?

    27/03/2023 Duration: 04min

All Links - Linktr.ee/barbarafaisonLinktr.ee/barbarafaison I am a self-professed, lifelong learner and lifelong sharer.  Last Thursday I went to the 10th Annual VO Atlanta Conference to learn more about my craft.  It was exciting... it was engaging... it was LOUD.  It was my third time going since 2019 and I continue to learn more each time I go. There were over with over 900 attendees and experts and I took many conscious breaths between Thursday and Sunday.  I did take a breath break while I was there.  One of my favorite genres of voiceover is eLearning. If you have ever taken an online course, you have experienced eLearning. You may have taken a class for your job or for starting a new job, that's eLearning.  A few of the voices I've played in eLearning include being a judge, doctor, coaching an employee and sales training.   My friend, fellow content creator and voice talent, Terri Nicole asked me to support her at her vendor table where she was sharing her VO Accelerator eLearning course.  I me

    20/03/2023 Duration: 04min

ALL THE LINKS https://linktr.ee/barbarafaison ALL Decades & GENERATIONS Family. The word can bring smiles and feelings of all nature.  At this stage of life  I have one brother, Tony, who has two children, April and Byron, and a grandchild - my great-nephew, Aiden who is 4. We have cousins across the world, including Florida, Pennsylvania and California. I feel very fortunate to have grown up knowing my grandparents on my father's side and even my great grandmother on my mother's side of the family.  Connecting with generations from infants to as high as I can go brings me such joy.  I also really love celebrating the family we call friends. This weekend I had the pleasure of not only celebrating a friend and sister in silence, Susan Kelley- Delaine, I got to meet her parents! What a blessing to have your family and your parents to celebrate with you.  I truly miss mine. Mr. & Mrs. Delaine were gracious hosts and we listened to soul music in the basement surrounded by memories of Susan growi

  • Week 11 - What helps you keep YOU CALM?

    13/03/2023 Duration: 04min

ALL THE LINKS - LINKTR.EE/BARBARAFAISON My father‘s mother, Grandma Honey, taught me to crochet when I was a young girl. I don’t remember the exact age, I imagine I was probably 9 or 10. I would crochet when I visited her in Plant City, Florida and when I returned home.…Did you know that Plant City is the Winter Strawberry Capital of the World? It was a hobby I enjoyed. And I know now that crochet has laid a foundation for calm in my life. No experience in life is wasted! As I got older like other hobbies, I put it to the side. In the 90’s while living in Tampa, FL and working with IBM, I decided I would make baby blankets for gifts for my co-workers. In one year, I made 9 spiderweb baby blankets, it was and is still my signature baby blanket. Once again, I took a hiatus from crochet for many years. I love the library. One day while in the library on Covington Highway in Decatur, GA, I saw a flyer for a crochet group. Creative Expressions Crochet Group met every second Saturday and at their next meeting they

This weekend my husband, TD, and I went to support our oldest son, Tyriel, who is an assistant coach for the girls varsity team at Griffin High School, for the state basketball playoffs in Ft. Valley, GA. Backstory alert, for those of you who may not know this, I am one of those unicorns that got married at 52… so yes, it can be done for those who want the marriage experience.

Yes, kindness is still the running theme.  I am the CEO of my business, Barbara Faison, LLC,  Chief Everything Officer... it's only me. I realized recently... I can be a little slow at times when I get in this "creative" headspace... that I had been doing a lot and not following through with sharing all of the "things." • Week 8 - Are you being kind to YOU?

    20/02/2023 Duration: 05min

https://linktr.ee/barbarafaison Greetings! How are you feeling? I'm letting Trigger Protection Mantra by Jhene AIko play in the background to remind me to CALM MYSELF down. lol On Friday I received an email for a voiceover session for Monday and I thought I responded that 1 pm worked for me. After I finished my prayer/God time where I asked if I needed to reach out to my contact, Brian, to get the script, I checked my email and he had reached out to me about if I was available at 1 pm.  Times like these it is easy to let the mind go on a spiral about... "I thought I responded"... "didn't I respond"... on and on. I took a deep breath and I emailed my apologies and confirmed my availability. Fast forward an hour later, the session was rescheduled to Wednesday afternoon. A reminder... all timing is divine. The stress we/I put on ourselves is so unnecessary. I love her song to remind me... to CALM DOWN. The bowls and sounds help me breathe through whatever I have perceived to have stressed me. Jhene al

  • Week 7 - Being Kind To Yourself

    13/02/2023 Duration: 05min

https://linktr.ee/barbarafaison Greetings! I mentioned last week that I have been working on my Affirm Your Life audio program on the power of using affirming words in your life. I can be REALLY focused and get pretty intense when I'm creating something. For weeks I've been writing and researching and I was getting frustrated with my progress.  The process is researching, outlining, writing the program/script, reading the script out loud, recording the script, editing the script, testing content and then I submit the program for review or publish it myself. I can get a little antsy while doing this process and last week I was ready to be done. Guess what? After writing about journaling for 37 days last Monday, I forgot to journal the next day. I realized this on Wednesday as I sat down to journal that day. I had to  remind myself to use my tools and practices. I had been so stuck in my head trying to force ideas about the course that I forgot to journal the day before. Changing my environm

  • Week 6 - Pat Yourself On the Back

    06/02/2023 Duration: 04min

My mother and father were both very kind, loving and wise people. Yes, I recognize what a gift I had with both of them and as I got older, and I was sure to let them know how much I appreciated them. My mother, Annie Lorene Jackson, was an elementary school teacher from a Pelham, GA, population of about 3500 now, I imagine it was smaller when she lived there. She was the first person in her family to attend college. She graduated Albany State College/University in1957 and married my father, Moses Cornelius Faison who was working as a librarian in Albany. I have had a love affair with words since the womb I suspect. lol. As you can see, education was a cornerstone in my life and continues to be foundational to who I am as a person. My mother became will in 2011 and she lived with me from 2012 - 2015. I got married in 2014, for the first and only time. :) While my mother lived with me/us for those three years she would encourage me to pat myself on the back...A LOT. Even as a young child I tend
