BML: Walter'z Pulitzer Prize
04/01/2022 Duration: 36minDave joins Bill Mick to talk about some history and the media and why we will always be distrustful of those who control information. Last week, a “Producer” (whatever that means) for MSNBC created a small firestorm when he derisively referred to the Diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics as being over the “alleged human rights violations” by Communist China, or as I refer to it, West Taiwan. For a brief moment, the hashtag “#alleged” was trending on social media. As you can probably guess, it didn’t last long. Today you can more or less only the find any reference to the story on conservative media. We could spend a lot of time talking about the bias of media, the censorship by the tech media, the ignorance of the American people, or… We could talk about some history. Like that time a guy won a Nobel Prize (1932) for Correspondence by telling the entire world that in the Communist utopia there was (a) nothing going on and (b) even if something was going on, it was completely rational and totally neces

The State of the The State of Emergency
03/01/2022 Duration: 14minWelcome to 2022. Or as some have called it, the third year of “15 Days to Flatten the Curve!” The State of Washington has been in a “state of emergency” for (as of today) 674 days. Despite calls for the Governor to end the ongoing “emergency,” the appeal has fallen upon deaf ears. Why is that? The answer is the same today as it was more than 670 days ago. And the same as it will be in another 600 days. Now that the playbook has been validated, it is clear to most power hungry lunatics that the sheeple will do whatever they are told to do… for whatever “emergency” that they can conjure up…

1914 Redux
23/12/2021 Duration: 23minIn the first days of August of that particular year, one of the largest and most powerful empires in the world – albeit one with an equally large inferiority complex – issued an ultimatum to one of its small, but not insignificant neighbors. “Do what we want, or we will ‘by force of arms’ do it anyway.” It was not a declaration of war, certainly not in the legal sense. It was, however, a act of aggression that set the world on a course that to this day is still be sailed. The newspapers of the day carried stories, rumors, analysis, commentary and discussion of the note and its potential to draw then entire world into conflict. Oddly, most “experts” considered it a bluff. Why? Because – and I am not making this up – nobody could be that crazy. It’s such an insane threat that it has to be a bluff. Narrator: It wasn’t a bluff. This morning, another emperor of one of the great but inferiority complex crippled empires issued another ultimatum. “Do as I demand, or else…” This time, the reaction is notably diff

Best Evidence
20/12/2021 Duration: 21minA long time ago, the very first time that I ever listened to "talk radio" was when an author (David Lifton) was being interviewed about his new book, "Best Evidence" which outlined his theory about the assassination of John F Kennedy. I recall the show being very interesting, very entertaining (most important) and most of all, very influential. I went out the next day and bought the paperback version of the book at the local grocery store. There are two things that I want to share with you today from experience in 1981. First: There are experiences in life that more than define who you will be. It wasn't that day that I decided to go into radio (and of course, podcasting was the stuff of Science Fiction). But it was a day that I always looked back on - especially after I began both writing and later on radio - as a reminder of what it was that I was trying to do. Secondly: If there was any evidence in the files being released right now that anybody other than Oswald killed Kennedy that day in Dallas, then

TSV: Surface Transists
16/12/2021 Duration: 51minThere was very big news in the submarine world today as USS Connecticut departed San Diego for the final leg of a 7000 nautical mile surface transit. The Sub Vets, Eric and Dave (your submarine experts!) recall their own adventures on surfaced submarines, including the more disgusting bits (Hint: NEVER Trust a guy in the crews lounge or Dave when he tells you that the AMR1 bilge will "help" with your seasickness)! The West Taiwanese have a new theory about what Connecticut hit, but like most insane conspiracy theories it doesn't really... well... hold water. And the whole scenario is just a reminder of why we have the greatest Navy in the entire world. And we BEAT ARMY!

14/12/2021 Duration: 35minDave was on WMMB-AM in Melbourne FL with Bill Mick (Bill Mick Live) to talk about the Salvation Army, John Stossell vs Facebook "Fact Checkers" and the USS Connecticut's arrival in San Diego...

2+2=?
13/12/2021 Duration: 18minThe book used to be one of my favorite works of fiction. These days, I am wondering if it is still considered “fiction” or procedural manual? What book, you ask? 1984. What has happened now? Well… you may have heard that inflation is really bad. You may have noticed that there are long lines at the gas station (I certainly have), and food is getting more and more expensive. So you might think that it could be a supply chain issue or maybe some other COVID related upset that has every government official in the country working diligently to get past the pandemic and get things “back to normal.” Of course, you’d be wrong. You may not have noticed that we currently have “the greatest economy” ever. In the words of one news person, it’s so good that it’s like the Roaring 20’s all over again! Oh… and we’re going to change the rules for how we compute inflation, so by this time next month, POOF! It’ll be even better than it already is!

WTF: Birds Aren't Real
12/12/2021 Duration: 01h05minIt’s the 2021 finale for Friar Rod and Rabbi Dave. They talk trolls and birds (along with dinosaurs and Christians), and it’s that time of the year when they bring your their look at the latest Hallmark Holiday flicks! How much would you fork over to some “company’ to drop you off in the middle of some foreign country and leave you there? For fun? Once upon a time the Rabbi took one for the team and saw Sex and the City 2. The Peloton company is kinda wishing that they hadn’t seen it, but they want you to know that they can help keep you alive… Unlike Mr. Big…

TSV: Pearl Harbor
10/12/2021 Duration: 58minThe Sub Vets, your submarine experts are back. Eighty years ago this week the Imperial Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, killing 2400 Americans and sinking numerous ships. Among the vessels in the harbor that day were four US Navy Submarines. In retrospect, the attackers should have paid more attention to the submarines… In Sub Vets News, the Royal Navy seems to have a drug problem among her boat sailors. The two spies might have been motivated by their personal animosity towards… Donald Trump? Would you dive 600 feet below on board a “diving living room submarine?“ Eric says “NOPE” while Dave has been planning this since the 5th grade…

Miss Rankin Votes "Present"
09/12/2021 Duration: 22minBack in the 1870s Otto von Bismarck coined a term that still resonates today, despite the fact that purists on both political sides hate it: realpolitik In December of 1941, a Congresswoman – the first ever – learned a lesson in realpolitik. In April of 1917 she had been among fifty US Representatives who felt that a US Declaration of War on Imperial Germany was a mistake and to be opposed. In retrospect and in the minds of many millions of Americans that day, she was right. But twenty-four years later, she would find herself as the ONLY US Congressperson, House or Senate*, to vote against declaring war on Imperial Japan after the attacks of December 7th. She would pay a personal price for her vote, including some merciless mockery for hiding in a closet after the vote and losing her seat permanently. Rankin claimed that it had been a vote of principle, stating that war is always wrong. Three days later, she would vote “Present” on a Declaration of War against two other countries that had not attacked the

Flashback - december 7, 2011 - Admiral Jonathan Greenert
06/12/2021 Duration: 06minIn late 2011, Admiral Jonathan Greenert became the Chief of Naval operations. Before that, he had commanded the US Navy's 7th fleet, a fleet that just rings with Naval History related to world war II. But even before that, the Admiral had once upon a time been a LtCDR and was the executive Officer aboard a ballistic missile submarine. And, aboard that submarine, one of the sailors with whom he had a long history of service was a Ballitic Missile Fire Controlman, 2nd Class, name... well... Dave Bowman. After the Admiral became CNO, I approached his office about being on the show for December 7th (and a story for another day was that adventure!) and he was glad to do it. We had a great time recording the interview and an even better conversation after. What I always knew about (as he was to me) LtCDR Greenert was that he cared a great deal about the sailors under him. Most XO's are the "hard ass" and keep things in line. LtCDR Greenert was ALWAYS professional and personable. When I had an issue in December of

WTF: Omnicraw
05/12/2021 Duration: 56minRabbi Dave has arisen from his muscle relaxer induced coma to share the hour with the Good Friar Rod as they ask questions about how the government is doing things and why Trevor Noah is in some “hot water” for finally at least appearing to see the obvious answer in front of his not so funny face. Did you know that JaBiden is the worst treated by the media President in history? Delta Airlines had an… interesting(?) problem last week, and for reasons that nobody can seem to answer, Chris Cuomo still has his job – even after being fired. Ho, ho, ho, it’s the first WTF of the Holiday Season!

The Hearts and Minds of the People
02/12/2021 Duration: 12minA long time ago, there was a king who decided that all of the people of his realm should behave as he had decided that they should behave. Failure to behave as dictated would result in the most dire of consequences. rules were established, ancient traditions were dismantled and the people who objected were placed under enormous burdens. To be certain, there were those people who agreed with the kings efforts to demolish the old ways. They saw an aspect of safety and security in following the new edicts. Besides, they reasoned, the old ways didn’t seem to be all that effective anyway. They went along with the king and the new rules, and, to show their agreement, they too attacked and punished those who still refused the new edicts. They said that it was just an effort to save lives. To get along by assimilating into the new normal. When everything was said and done, the king was dead, but the old ways lived on. Until the next king came along…

TSV: Submairne Terms
01/12/2021 Duration: 47minYou freeloading oxygen breathers are welcome to join The Sub Vets, The Submarine Experts, Eric and Dave as they set sail into the world of every and all things submarines! We start things off with a discussion of some Patrol Hackers, a bunch of questionable "submarine terms," which drifts into a sea story or two. We learn of Eric's tragic Submarine youth, as he was both DINQ and had an "abusive Sea Dad." Dave does not have a NAM, nor does he have a ballcap that says "NAM" on it. Eric does have one (the medal, not that hat) because it turns out that he is a hero! The LA's are being decommed by the Navy and it's a painful thing to watch... although there could be a possible way that some of the LA's might stay in service. Get your show Hacker Card for your chance to win questionable and iffy "prizes!"

Made In... China?
30/11/2021Over the past few days, Communist China sent military aircraft into Taiwanese airspace. This resulted in Taiwan sending up large amounts of interceptor jets. The world wobbled ever closer to a war that has been on the back burner since 1949. I’m old enough to remember when all of our cheap Chinese products were stamped with “Made in Taiwan.” You will notice that is no longer the case. And it’s a big part of the reason that Communist China may believe that the United States won’t lift a finger to defend Free China…

Woke Christmas kettles
29/11/2021 Duration: 25minJust to be absolutely clear, I was born as a fourth generation member of The Salvation Army. My grandparents were lay leaders at the Oklahoma City and later the Norman Corps in Oklahoma, while my parents are retired Officers (ordained ministers). As was my Uncle (of blessed memory) and My Aunt, my cousin and my sister. Not to mention numerous friends. In point of fact, I was an Officer from 1991-1997 and a life long member of the church until I specifically left it in 2004. In 2008 I fully converted to Judaism and since that time I have attended precisely one Salvation Army service – the funeral of my Uncle in 2016. While I am certain that there are those who will claim and shout otherwise, I am steeped in Army philosophy and doctrine, both as trainee and as a leader of it. I am not just talking off the cuff with no understanding of things. That said, I left the Army as a member in 2004 and as an employee in 2007. My Uncle Roger and I once had a conversation (circa 1992) about why we found ourselves so cr
