So, I wrestled pretty hard with this one, as it will fall around the election. But in the end, I believe God showed me the way to go! And that’s just what we’ll be talking about...what it looks like to look to God—to put aside every distraction—and ask the Holy Spirit, “Would you show me the way to go?” In a moment in history that feels absolutely impossible to navigate, we’ll huddle together and remember that His Word, His Way is the grid for our lives. Well, I’m marveling at God all over again! It’s amazing, when we are faithful to open His Word, He will show us something new and life giving over and over. His Word never returns empty! I sensed it again today as I recorded this and even paused for a “response” moment for us to just stop and open our hands and hearts to God! I’m excited to welcome back my friend Margaret Feinberg to the podcast! I truly mean it when I say that I’m excited for you to hear about her new devotional called “More Power To You: Declarations to Break Free from Fear and Take Back Your Life! We’ve talked about this a lot on this podcast, that there’s power in confessing, even out loud, who God is and who we are because of who He is! In our portion of Psalm 119 today we’ll be reminded that God has called us to walk in His way, together! We must look to God in these days, first and foremost, but the Psalmist reminds us that out of the overflow of walking in the way of the Lord, we can also look to each other and be encouraged to endure! This week we will take a climb up to the top of the cultural landscape we find ourselves in, with the challenge of somehow seeing the goodness of God in it all. Yes, we will remember together that even in affliction and adversity, God’s goodness can be found in astounding and transformational ways! We will be in Psalm 119:65-72 where the singer belts out, “Good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statues.” We’ll ask ourselves, yet again in this beautiful text, “Do I understand it? I’m amazed! Even in just five episodes, I feel like I have grown leaps and bounds and THIS is the promise of God’s living and active Word, it never returns void! He Himself said, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” (Jer 1:12) I’ll admit, I was a bit intimidated of this Psalm at first, but as we’ve been willing to ask God together—to come and show us His insight and give us His wisdom—I stand amazed that He’s given us something NEW each time! So, it follows that this episode is no exception - He promises MORE of who He is as we remember together that it is most of the battle AND the victory to simply keep asking, seeking and knocking that He might keep revealing to us His Way—the only way that gives true LIFE! I have to say that God moved my heart in a really sweet way in the making of this episode, so much that it surprised me! This Psalm is reminding me of Hebrews 5:14, “But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” This isn’t a light-hearted Psalm, but I believe in these days we are living in, it’s solid food that we can sink our teeth into!
