Welcome back to the Psalms for Summer’s End podcast series! These near and dear podcast episodes were previously released to my patron audience only and now we’re making them available to YOU! These were recorded a few years back but God’s Word is living and active, so I hope that they meet you right where you are with the peace that only God can give!Today we’ll dive into a not-so-obvious Psalm that’s one of those that you love at the beginning but you have no idea what to do with the middle and then “yay!” the ending is back to the fun stuff! Following the circle of lament, we’ll learn to wrestle with that weighty stuff in the middle–that our lives are basically a vapor–here today, gone tomorrow. The world, with all its chaos and charm sets a trap. But Jesus…he sets a table. SURPRISE! I’m so excited to release this series of podcasts that have been so near and dear to my heart! These were originally created for my podcast patrons only and haven’t been released to the public until now! I called the series, “Summer in the Psalms” but since we’re nearing the golden hour of the summer of ‘22,  I think we can receive them as “Psalms for Summer’s End.” (Makes me exhale just saying it!) Keep in mind that these podcasts are from a few summers ago! That means you’ll hear me talking about Noah’s 18th birthday, Annie’s 11th, and that Ellie was just 15! Can we all just stop and have a big ole cry over that? This was a little bit of an emotional process for me in getting this episode into your hands! I think there’s no better time to remember together what I call “The Seven Wonders of the Beloved” in this chapter, which are the who, whose, when, where, how, what and why of our lives. These are prodding answers in the form of questions that help us remember who and whose we are so that we can stand faithfully in our “when”—knowing full-well “where” we are in Christ—so that we can be about the how, what and why or our day and our lives! Join me and my dear friend Shannon Scott as we go down memory lane about the decision to lay down my career years ago. My journey of laying down “Watermark”, the ministry and music career that Nathan and I shared all those years ago, was one of the biggest leaps of faith of my entire life. With no “Plan B” I followed what I sensed God was asking me to do and the REST followed (pun intended as my brother, Eric would say!) It was here, far away from the platform, that God would re-order my identity around who and Whose I really am. It was a life-changing work and I’d venture to say a life-saving work that He did in my heart, one that carries me to this day to live and work (and even work hard) from His rest!
