  • Season 4 - Episode 1 // Those Who Look to Him - Psalm 119

    11/03/2020 Duration: 50min

We're Back! I’m so incredibly excited to kick off a brand new season of The Glorious in the Mundane podcast in a brand new year! We are going to be walking through Psalm 119 together, the most elaborate of all the acrostic Psalms in the Bible! This beautiful (but kind of baffling) Psalm will not only walk us through the treasure that is the Hebrew ”Aleph-bet” but will also show us the invitation of God’s precepts, commands and even His “rules”! My hope is that you’re surprised all over again at the intentionality of our God, who longs to walk with His people! I’ll talk to you soon!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

We’ll be talking about the “inheritance” the Lord bestows upon the Beloved - which is each other. As we journey together in community, there is real treasure in praying without ceasing for one another. We need each other! We’ll also lay some ground work on praying in this way. How do we pray without ceasing? How does the foundation of our prayers shift when we have the attributes of God on our hearts and lips? Excited to jump back in with you all as we continue to study prayer together! • Episode 64 - Prayers of the Beloved

    23/10/2019 Duration: 46min

Today is Part One of the “Prayers of the Beloved” that still settles well inside of our overall theme this Fall of enduring in a withering world! We’ve been building on the foundation of drawing near to the One who endures forever and I’d love for us to come around what it looks like to communicate in both awe and intimacy, with the Lord. We will talk about the boldness of the Beloved, that our confidence in His presence is built out from our identity as His children! Part One will lay a foundation for us in what it looks like to marry the head and the heart in prayer as well as experience the wonder and the “with-ness” (I just made that word up!) of our Father! We will explore what it looks like to “pray without ceasing” - maybe it’s a little more practical for our mundane than we’d expect! Grateful to dive in and LEARN more about prayer along with you! • Episode 63 - The Message in the Middle

    02/10/2019 Duration: 01h12s

HAPPY FALL Y’ALL! Let’s just hope that some FALL TEMPERATURES will come so that it might feel real! Today we are going to talk about appointed times and seasons and why it’s good for us to pay attention to these things in order to be intentional with beholding Who God is and becoming who He has made us to be! And, to endure in a withering world, may we have hearts that continually RETURN to the Lord in repentance! I’m SO excited to welcome back my dear friend Rebekah Lyons to the podcast as we celebrate her new book Rhythms of Renewal: Trading Stress and Anxiety for a Life of Peace and Purpose! It’s always sweet to sit down with Rebekah and reflect together! After watching her truly live these rhythms, it’s so fun to see how God is using her to help others enter into the REST that God offers us! I hope this episode is truly a BLESSING to you as you begin a brand new month! I’ll talk to you soon! - ChristyListen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFac

  • Episode 62 - The Message in the Middle

    18/09/2019 Duration: 58min

I’m so loving this “message in the middle” to ENDURE as the people of God! Thankfully, it’s not a checklist because no one needs another one of those! Today we will remember that it flows out from drawing near to the One who endures forever, and cultivates in us a “beholding” heart! A heart that daily confesses, “Jesus, You are the Christ”,  beholding Him for Who He truly is! And wouldn’t you know it...we BECOME what we behold! Gathering around this very truth with me is the beautiful Ruth Simons! Her new book “Beholding and Becoming: The Art of Everyday Worship” is absolutely gorgeous and is available everywhere today! I’m confident that you are so going to enjoy hearing from Ruth’s heart! • Episode 61 - The Message in the Middle

    04/09/2019 Duration: 01h28s

I’m so excited to be back for some special episodes this Fall! The Lord gave me this theme, “The Message in the Middle” and it started as something personal but then I realized that it’s really for all of us! If you’re anything like me, you might be trying to figure out - right about now - what it looks like to live purposely and intentionally inside of this withering world around us. What does it look like to remain faithful in the middle of it all? Here between the now and the not yet. Our spiritual reality is that we are in the middle of a war! What does it look like for us to steadily stand in the middle of it all? I’m realizing more and more that it is not only good, but vital, that we remind each other to stand firm, to remain, to stay…to last! But how do we do that? Listen in as we huddle up and remember how to draw near to the only One who lasts forever! You will also get to hear from my brother Eric Hill and his beautiful wife, Kristin (Amaryllis Kristin!) from @withyouministries as they talk about t

  • Season 3 Ep 60 - Taste and See with Margaret Feinberg

    22/05/2019 Duration: 01h09min

It’s so sweet to be back with you on The Glorious in the Mundane podcast today! Today’s episode is called “Taste and See” as a part of our “Come Magnify the Lord with Me” series. I love this thought of magnifying the Lord together over the bounty of food. I know that food can be a touchy subject and isn’t it just like the enemy to make it a “thing” because all in all, God MADE IT A THING! It’s HIS THING and it’s FOR US in a big and beautiful way. Enjoy a conversation today with the brilliant, Margaret Freiburg as she takes us on a journey of savoring Christ through tasting and seeing that He is good and He is ENOUGH. I pray that today’s episode encourages you to stop and savor, to perceive and respond, to TASTE and SEE that God is abundant and He’s inviting you to LIVE from all that He is!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

  • Season 3 Ep 59 - Eyes Up, Palms Up

    10/04/2019 Duration: 40min

Today I decided to expound on my  post on Instagram about “juggling” and can I just say, how much do you love that God can speak to us through juggling? Like actual juggling. He is amazing! As we continue our series called Come Magnify the Lord with Me, we will talk about what it looks like to keep our eyes lifted above what we’re juggling - all the things we’re carrying and trying to hold together - and instead, fix them on the Lord and His steadfast love over us. We’ll discuss the rhythm we can find in surrendering day to day, eyes up/palms up as we trust this God who holds us all together!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

  • Season 3 Ep 58 - When Our Worries Turn To Worship

    27/03/2019 Duration: 44min

Today we’ll remember once again what lessons we can take with us from Winter as we allow ourselves to HOPE for what Spring will bring! There’s something beautiful about giving ourselves permission to let HOPE rise up in our hearts because eventually, that HOPE begins to seep out on others! As we continue our series called, “Come Magnify the Lord With Me” we will acknowledge that we do have an enemy who loves to keep us isolated and silenced as he stirs the pot with our worries and fears. However, when we choose to turn our worries into worship, doors open, chains fall and we are blessed by getting to BLESS God in the midst of uncertainty! I will talk to you soon!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

  • Season 3 Ep 57 - I Lift My Hands to You

    13/03/2019 Duration: 41min

I’m so loving this theme, “Come Magnify the Lord With Me” as it’s reminding me that we are all MADE to worship. There’s something in us, deep down, that craves connection with God. It’s natural that we all desire the blessing of God on us and we even deeply need ministry from Him, we are human! Do I believe God blesses us and ministers to us? YES! But, there’s also something that we offer in worship that’s unique to WHO we are and that blesses and ministers to God in the most beautiful way! I was telling a friend of mine this week about the first time that I ever lifted my hands in worship. As I was talking about it, I realized that I lifted my hands to Him during a season of my life where He was bringing true restoration to some very broken things that my family had experienced. I was only 17. But I realized that lifting my hands in the moment was a very appropriate response, the more my friend and I talked about it. It was a present response, and we’ll even talk about this episode, that it was a biblical re

  • Season 3 Ep 56 - Come Magnify The Lord With Me

    27/02/2019 Duration: 47min

NEW PODCAST TODAY! I’m SO excited to re-launch #thegloriousinthemundane podcast after a much needed break in January and am feeling refreshed to be back! I’m so excited to hone in on this theme of “Come Magnify the Lord with Me” -  I love the invitation of Psalm 34:3, “oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Essentially, David is saying, “come join me in blessing the Lord.” What does it look like to bless the Lord? What happens in terms of our own blessing when we learn to bless him? I love that the Psalms are like this songbook of our identity as the people of God. We’re invited to respond both personally and corporately and I’m learning that both responses are essential in the life of the believer. I hope you’ll join me on this personal, worship journey for the next several months! It’s going to be beautiful!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

  • Season 3 Ep 55 - A Better Home

    20/12/2018 Duration: 01h06min

“A Better Home” is the title of today’s episode as we wrap up an amazing year together! We’ll dive into the heart of the home together and how sharing what we’ve been given can be true for anyone, in any economy, anywhere in the world! With eternity in our hearts, we’re both looking for a better home and a better country, all the while displaying it here in our own hearts! You’ll get to hear from the lovely Myquillyn Smith @thenester and her heart on sharing what we’ve been given and allowing our homes to be the backdrop for caring for others! I’ll share about our Georgia home being featured in Better Homes and Gardens as well as Country Living. (The photos here are from the BHG feature back in the October 2014 issue!) This is the last podcast for the year! I’m so grateful for all of you who have listened to the podcast this year, even those of you who are just getting started and catching up! You’ve made my life so rich with your kind words and your support and most of all, by sharing how God has spoken to y

  • Season 3 Ep 54 - Home, Home on the Road

    10/12/2018 Duration: 01h28min

So excited about today’s episode! I’m calling it “Home, Home on the Road” and today we’ll be reminded that because God is a home for us and He’s building His home IN us…we are agents of CHANGE for the world around us! My sweet new friend, Ginna Claire Mason  will be joining me today for this episode! She has just finished a 20 month tour with the Broadway Musical “Wicked” and knows a thing or two about finding a sense of home…home on the road. She truly embodies this beautiful theme of home and has been such a blessing to me in just the short time I’ve known her! I’m excited for you to meet her and I pray that you’re encouraged and that your faith gets built up for how God wants to use YOU as you hear her story! You know, it wasn’t until I really sat down and started preparing for this podcast that God whispered in even another layer of experiencing home on the road…it has a little something to do with that whole “agents of change” thing and I’m excited for you to hear about it and be encouraged by it! I’ll t

  • Season 3 Ep 53 - The Invitation

    21/11/2018 Duration: 50min

This is our Thanksgiving episode and I’m praying grace upon grace as you all head wherever you’re going! If you’re hosting Thanksgiving this year, it’s the same prayer…grace upon grace!! Today we will thank God together for how intentional he is in inviting us into a deeper walk with him! Sometimes the invitation comes through His Word or maybe our prayer time but sometimes it comes through a rough season or a major disappointment. I love when I find out that He was working all along, even when it seemed like he was disengaged! It’s beautiful how he entrusts us sometimes with rough seasons so that we can uncover the deeper invitation that he’s offering to us. He is so good! • Season 3 Ep 52 - A Heart Turned Towards Home

    07/11/2018 Duration: 01h06min

Happy November Y’all! I’m so excited about today’s episode because you’re going to get to hear from my dear friend Molley Moody - she’s not just a guest today because she’ll be with us on our Night of Hope #AFamilyChristmas tour or the fact that she’s just released a beautiful album called #HeartSongs - of course all of those things are wonderful things that I want you to know about! She’s a guest today because Jesus is a trusted Builder who restores people’s lives! I’ve watched Molley rise up in her calling over the last few years and so much of that has happened because she chose to place her heart in the hands of Jesus. You’re going to hear about how Jesus restored some very broken places in her heart and has continually walked with her into freedom and wholeness in so many beautiful ways. You’ll hear her share about her prayer process in combating lies and fears and how she’s learned to invite Jesus in to help her daily believe truth in those places. You’re also going to hear one of her new songs called “

  • Season 3 Ep 51 - A House God is Building

    24/10/2018 Duration: 01h13min

Y’all, I’m so excited about this episode! As always, the Lord took me through something in REAL TIME where I basically LIVED this episode with something I was walking through personally. I’m so grateful when He does that. It keeps me walking in humility and depending solely on Him for the “content” as well as being assured that He’ll have me experience the content too! Yes, it exposes dead ends in the “home” that He is building in me where I need to trust His vision when He knocks out a wall! (whew!) We’ll look at Isaiah 54 together, this passage!! Oh, how it tears down any preconceived ideas of any sort of “cookie cutter house” that He wants to build in us! He’s the God of more. The One who puts windows in walls and staircases inside of one-story cottages! We can trust this Builder. You’ll also hear me sit down with my sweet friend Meshali Mitchell to talk about the RESTORATION journey that God is unfolding in her life! Through an unexpected story-line, God has shown Himself a trustworthy Builder who is care

  • Season 3 Ep 50 - Longing For Home

    10/10/2018 Duration: 01h09min

Longing For Home - I’m loving this theme, THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME! It’s helping me be present in the place that matters right now, which is home! But that doesn’t mean I can’t take that WITH ME wherever I go! Today we will let Psalm 84 wash over us and remember together that “better is one day in His courts than a thousand elsewhere!” You’ll also get to hear from the lovely @jessicanturner on her brand new book “Stretched Too Thin: How Working Moms Can Lose the Guilt, Work Smarter and Thrive” I think we can all relate to being stretched too thin in different seasons of our lives, I know I can! I hope today’s episode encourages you RIGHT where you are! I’ll talk to you soon!Listen "Captivate Us"Listen to 'This is the Hour'Follow Christy on Socials: WebsiteFacebook Twitter Instagram TikTok

    23/05/2018 Duration: 01h02min

www.patreon.com/christynockelsToday we’re going to talk about what it looks like to cultivate the smaller reach of our lives instead of being overwhelmed that we’re not making a “huge impact”… Maybe we have big dreams for the future but what if instead of running after the the big thing, we spend time cultivating the smaller reach of our lives, weaving it strong and true. I’m going to introduce you to my niece @adelinehillmusic today who is pursuing a music career in the mainstream and let me tell you, the girl has something to SAY. I’ve gotten the privilege of getting to mentor Adeline since she was very young and I’ve watched her choose to be “made in the secret” when the doors weren’t quite opening yet. I’ve watched her cultivate the smaller reach of her life that has afforded her friendships and experiences she’ll carry for a lifetime. Her new song, “How Can It Be Time Already” is about realizing it’s already time to fly the nest but it’s been beautiful to watch it kind of sneak up on her, those of us wh

  • Season 2 Ep 41 - Special Guest Lauren Tomlin

    09/05/2018 Duration: 57min

Special Guest - Lauren TomlinToday is a beautiful reminder that before we are a wife or a mama, we are a daughter with an invitation to take God up on all that He has for us, if we’ll just choose to step into it with Him. This episode is actually our Mother’s Day episode, but PLEASE don’t pass it up just because you are not a Mama! There’s something for EVERYONE in today’s episode! Today is actually one of my favorite interviews that I’ve gotten to do, to date! You’re going to get to hear from my beautiful friend Lauren Tomlin whom I’ve actually mentioned several times on this podcast before! She’s married to my friend Chris Tomlin and theirs is a story that has been incredible to watch unfold over the years. Married later in life, Lauren opens up about the invitation that marriage and parenthood has been to engage their hearts deeply with the Father. She is so transparent about accepting God’s invitation in it all, even through a lot of pain and trial, but how it’s changed the way they live with and love eac
