Synopsis

Podtoid is Destructoid's long-running video game podcast. It has gone through several iterations with a plethora of cast members, but it has always been a place for raw video game discussion with some of your favorite Destructoid editors. Current cast includes Zack Furniss, Steven Hansen, Brett Makedonski, and Darren Nakamura.

Episodes

  • Podtoid 147: Robocop killed Clarence Boddicker

    20/04/2010 Duration: 01h21min

This episode includes a lot of discussion about games and stuff, but in reality it's mainly about Brad Nicholson's knowledge of Robocop (and, ironically, his complete lack of knowledge regarding Buckaroo Banzai). Also, the Big Looming Changes to Podtoid are announced a few minutes in.

  • Podtoid 145: Adam Dork's Nature Show

    06/04/2010 Duration: 01h32min

We talk about games and stuff in this episode, but the conversation doesn't really pick up until the final ten minutes. After the proper, let's-talk-about-videogames show ends, Adam Dork starts linking us to pictures of crabs and giving his own unique commentary. And that's pretty fun. Here is a list of the pictures Adam is talking about: http://data.tumblr.com/2SLvxTvtlg0oybjsZFtFzzYyo1_500.jpg http://arachnofriends.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/crab-spider.jpg  http://www.grantbalke.com/images/animals/crabSpider.jpg http://web.mit.edu/cfox/www/livejournal-links/goldenrod-crab-spider.jpg http://www.naturalsciences.org/microsites/education/treks/PilotMtn/images/Crab-Spider.jpg http://cocokrispybeans.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/coconut20crab20scampering4s.jpg http://www.allthepages.org/images/blog/coconut_crab.jpg  http://lh4.ggpht.com/abramsv/SB1mpido4TI/AAAAAAAAQIw/NCGymSYdQW0/s800/coconut-crab-2.jpg  http://pirun.ku.ac.th/~ffistkb/images/SEA_COCONUT_CRAB.jpg http://www.hemmy.net/images/animals/hugecrab01.jpg

  • Podtoid 144: Lil' Scarface

    30/03/2010 Duration: 01h22min

This is the Scarface video we're talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uovMpapeCJQ It's pretty awesome. This week, the regular cast minus Brad discussed PAX East, the 3DS, and a bunch of listener questions. Hope you dig it.

  • Podtoid 143: Anal Tax Bracket

    23/03/2010 Duration: 02h21min

I (Anthony) don't show up until after the break, but I'm pretty sure that this week's episode is primarily about random news nonsense and an extended Games of the Week segment dealing with Metro 2033 and Splinter Cell Conviction. Linde and Brad aren't around for this one, but Leray showed up. Enjoy. http://www.neatorama.com/images/2006-12/camel-spider-fly-tying.jpg  http://images.whatsthatbug.com/images/camel_spider_sandoval.jpg  http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/staticfiles/NGS/Shared/StaticFiles/animals/images/primary/sun-scorpion.jpg  http://www.goldschmidts.org/ari_iraq_photos/2007_June_Camel_Spider3_small.jpg  http://www.news.com.au/common/imagedata/0,,6313710,00.jpg  http://www.filmflies.com/images/Camel_Spider-2.jpg  http://www.freakingnews.com/pictures/65500/Camel-spider--65928.jpg  http://www.camelspiders.org.uk/camel_spiders_pics/camel_spiders_2.jpg

  • Podtoid 142: 15 Minutes to Midnight

    16/03/2010 Duration: 01h50min

I'd be lying if I said this week's Podtoid wasn't a little on the calm side, but our two loudest cast members are missing, and Leray and I were tired from our respective trips back from GDC. Such is life. Either way, the Podtoid crew discussed Brenda Brathwaite's Train, Portal 2, and our least favorite videogame bosses.

  • Podtoid 141: Dogsuit

    09/03/2010 Duration: 01h46min

AARREN, Anthony, and Brad won't be joining us for this episode thanks to GDC so we told you you were getting a listener's question episode. Well too bad, you are just going to have to deal with a real show, complete with stories and news items and sports! Instead of Jim holding the helm, Samit is in control. Can he successfully run two Podtoids in a row without a derailment? Stick with us to find out about the real, mystery identity of our guest co-host, Samit failing at #quickhits, Jim playing with his Wii, Topher's time idea, dogsuit, and much more. Oh, and there might be a listener question or two at the end.

  • Podtoid 140.5: Heavy Rain spoilertoid

    04/03/2010 Duration: 01h45min

We restrained ourselves from completely spoiling Heavy Rain's story in Monday's episode of Podtoid so that we could spoil the night away in a special Extra Gaiden Alpha episode of Podtoid. This is that episode. In it, we discuss our feelings toward the Heavy Rain's story and how it handles the player's agency within that story. Jim also does a Kevin Spacey impression. Additionally, there's a bit at the very end where right before signing off, Samit says, "well, it's a quarter to midnight." Adam cut the recording there, but we went on to decide that "It's a Quarter To Midnight" was the name of Samit's Nickelback cover band, and that the next time he's at an E3 party he has to do a karaoke version of "Hero."

  • Podtoid 140: I'll say one thing for the Satan dong

    02/03/2010 Duration: 01h36min

This week's episode is a spoiler-free discussion of Heavy Rain, bookended by some random news and commentary stuff. Rey Guttierez also shows up at the beginning to pimp out Dtoid video stuff.

  • Podtoid 139: nurture the zebra (2nd attempt)

    23/02/2010 Duration: 01h15min

This frigging thing won't upload correctly. The episode is about zebras and "the only thing I know" and Jesse Schell, but you'll never know about that if libsyn won't get its ass in gear. Maybe it woiuldn't upload properly because there wasn't enough text in the previous version of this post. Maybe I need more text. Text. Text. Text. Bonk bonk bonk bork.

  • Podtoid 138: Games of the Week

    16/02/2010 Duration: 02h01min

About half of this two hour podcast is our "games of the week" segment. I'm perfectly fine with that, I think. The other half is about Peter Molyneux, BioShock 2 and perhaps most interestingly, our favorite open world games. Hope you dig it.

  • Podtoid 137: Pixeljunk Gears of War

    09/02/2010 Duration: 01h51min

This week's episode has a pretty long Games of the Week segment (mainly because we spend a healthy portion of it talking about artgames), so be ready for that. After the first half of the show, however, the regular Podtoid crew yaks about Sonic 4, EA's 2011 lineup, and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment.

  • Podtoid 136: iPads and NPC death

    02/02/2010 Duration: 01h48min

There's some spoilery Mass Effect 2 talk in this week's Podtoid, but you can avoid it pretty easily: it starts at about the 45 minute mark and ends at 1:05:30. In it, we discuss the final mission of the game. Otherwise, pretty typical podcast; really long games of the week segment, some slightly games-unrelated discussion of the iPad, and a few listener questions at the end. Hope you like it, don't really mind if you don't.

  • Podtoid 135: This part goes in

    27/01/2010 Duration: 01h40min

Blah blah blah Podtoid blah blah regular cast. I'm playing Mass Effect 2. No time for lengthy intro paragraphs.

  • Podtoid 134: Tump

    20/01/2010 Duration: 01h55min

New Podtoid. No Jim, but we got Joseph Leray. In it, we discuss:- Every game anyone has been playing, ever- Overpriced games- The subtle art of tumpingAmongst other stuff.

  • Podtoid 133: I use lettuce

    13/01/2010 Duration: 01h27min

Sorry this is kinda late. You can blame Anthony, since it's largely his fault and he won't care if you do anyway. Podtoid 133 is a thing we did, which Brad Nicholson hosted, Adam Dork edited, and I was late to because someone confused me as to our start time. You can listen to it here, or subscribe to us on iTunes, where it had better be by now, dammit. Enjoy.

  • Podtoid 132: Something

    06/01/2010 Duration: 01h34min

I don't know what the hell this episode is about, because I don't show up until the last twenty minutes. Probably Jim talking about wanting to have sex with Bayonetta and then Samit talking about Portal.Nicholson and Linde aren't on it, because they're bastards. Other than that, I dunno what to tell you. Listen to the episode, or don't.

  • Podtoid 131: see you next year

    30/12/2009 Duration: 01h33min

This week's episode of Podtoid is:- Filled primarily with listener questions- Consisting secondarily of typical end-of-the-year rubbish- A not entirely convincing advertisement for The Void- 100% Aaron Linde-free- The last Podtoid of 2009Listen to it if you want, don't if you don't.

  • Podtoid 130: Wild speculation

    24/12/2009 Duration: 01h28min

That anime guy is one of the first Google image results for "wild speculation." No idea why. This week's episode of Podtoid, Destructoid's Official Podcast That We Do Every Week, is considerably less intense than last week's (as little as that's saying). The regular cast minus Aaron and Brad discussed sports, the Steam Holiday Sale, game protagonists, and wrasslin'.

  • Podtoid 129: Brad starts hosting halfway through

    16/12/2009 Duration: 01h38min

I really have to apologize -- this is one of the most insane, fast-paced, entertaining episodes I can remember, but the audio is awful. Adam Dork picked a hell of a week to go to Japan. But anyway: the first half of the episode is pretty standard. After the break, Nicholson starts hosting and everything changes forever.
