The streak is over. South Dakota State rallied from a 17-3 third quarter deficit to beat North Dakota State 19-17 and win the Dakota Marker for the first time since 2009. SDSU was the better team on Saturday, outgaining the Bison 523-304. Jake Wieneke caught the game winning touchdown with one second remaining to give the Jacks their first win against the Bison in nine tries. North Dakota State was slow out of the gates on offense Saturday, but found its groove in the second half, King Frazier ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns as the Bison cruised to a 27-3 win over Missouri State. NDSU forced four Bears turnovers, including  interceptions from Jalen Allison and Robbie Grimsley. Aaron Steidl, who had the big forced fumble last week against Illinois State, had a 20 yard fumble recovery today that set up the put away touchdown. The Bison are now 5-0 on the season, 2-0 in Valley play, with its four toughest games to come, SDSU, Western Illinois, Northern Iowa and Youngstown State. North Dakota State plays its first road conference game for 2016 this afternoon in Springfield, Missouri against the 3-1 Bears. Tim Frie, Jeff Kolpack and Mike McFeely set the stage as the Bison go for a seventh straight road win.

North Dakota State opened conference play with an impressive 31-10 win over Illinois State Saturday. Quarterback Easton Stick threw for 256 yards and three touchdowns, all of the TD passes were 35 yards or longer. Illinois State was held to 37 rushing yards as the Redbirds couldn't find the endzone after grabbing a 10-7 lead in the 2nd quarter. North Dakota State lost its best defensive player for the rest of the season. Head coach Chris Klieman announced Monday, Sept. 19, middle linebacker Nick DeLuca will have season-ending surgery to address a shoulder injury.

North Dakota State rallied from a 21-14 deficit in the fourth quarter to beat 11th ranked Iowa 23-21 on a 37 yard field goal from Cam Pedersen as time expired. The Bison beat an FBS team for the sixth straight time and a ranked FBS opponent for the first time.
