With outstanding scripts from all of our broadcasters and confidence that is growing by the week, it is always such a pleasure to watch these children at work. Our broadcasters were on top form this afternoon, bringing you all the latest school news, world news and even weird news in their latest live show. Plus, we were joined live in the studio by Rosie Evitt, author of Hannah's Tree and Tiny Tails, to talk about her new book. The best way to start your weekend...

I am so proud to be posting this track as it is a show hosted and presented by the youngest class in our school. With Thistle class coming to the end of their Under the Sea topic, May, Alice and Lewis hosted a wonderful LIVE show with everyone taking part, reading some of the excellent writing that they have produced this term. There was so much confidence and with plenty of listeners and texts from our audience, this was an afternoon to remember. Well done everyone!

Sadly our host, James, was poorly this morning so Mr R stepped in at the last minute. However, these are very professional shoes to fill. Luckily, all of our broadcasters were on top form and ensured that the show ran with it's usual variety, fun and professionalism. Well done everyone and what a fun way to start the week. We are all looking forward to having James back behind the mic next Monday.

Despite it not being too long since the last Westwood Talk, there is still plenty to discuss, including the latest class news, a very special LIVE outside broadcast from Westwood Radio at Wiltshire Heights Residential Care Home and the return of our Summer Fair with a Country Dancing spectacular and another live OB from the fair itself!

Today was a very special first for Westwood Radio as we broadcast our first live outside broadcast from Wiltshire Heights Residential Care Home in Bradford on Avon. Our team of Y6 broadcasters spent the show entertaining and even interviewing the residents to find out about their work and living locally - all part of our Oral History Project. It was a wonderful afternoon and a real privilege to meet such wonderful people. Our children were so respectful and such a credit to our school.

Slightly later in the week than usual (World Cup viewing got in the way!) here's the very latest from Westwood with Iford School in your regular podcast. With school news, Father's Friday and a very special feature on our invitation to record England match reports for BBC Wiltshire, here's another look into life at out innovative and exciting school.

Today was a very special show for Westwood Radio as we welcomed our dads into the studio as part of our Father's Friday celebrations. With some outstanding hosting from Billy and James and the usual high standard of presenting from all of our broadcasters, this deserves a listen again. Huge thanks to all of the dads for joining us and for making the afternoon show such fun!

Our breakfast show team are back with a cracker of a show to kick start your week. Bringing together school news, weather and life outside of school, the confidence in these young broadcasters is tremendous. Expertly hosted by James, but without a live caller today, this was another show to be proud of.

Including class news, another interview for our Oral History Project, a very special visit from Alan Stubbersfield, Director of Education in Wiltshire and news on the brilliant Westwood Scarecrow Trail. Group 2 was in full flow this afternoon as they broadcast another sparkling show live to the world. With the long awaited return of Oscar to the team, he took straight to hosting duties, with him and Ellie delivering a masterclass in education radio. The usual mix of top stories and features as well as great music and even a live caller, beautifully handled live on air by Ellie. A must listen show, if only to marvel at the confidence of our brilliant broadcasters.

The boys are back with another great show that focuses on writing about what we enjoy and enjoying writing. With everything scripted in advance by the team and hosts Oscar and Josh taking control for only the second time, this is another example of the power of education radio in developing confidence. Well done everyone!

A bumper episode of Westwood Talk this week to round up the final week of Term 5. With so much to look back on, including the cluster schools swimming gala, another Oral History Interview and our very exciting Friday, which included a live BBC Wiltshire outside broadcast from our school, sports day and a Race for Life! All packaged into a podcast for your listening pleasure.

We were delighted to be joined by top BBC Wiltshire sports broadcaster Marie Indge, who very kindly gave Charlie and Ellie the chance to be professional sports reporters and present with her live on air during the Breakfast show with Ben Prater from our school. Afterwards, Marie very kindly gave us some time to interview her and Daniel, who often reads our sports, asked her what it was like to be a sports broadcaster and what advice Marie would give our young up and coming presenters. Another amazing interview for Westwood Radio, thank you Marie!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Ben Prater and his BBC Breakfast Show Team to our school as part of their #stepintosummer campaign, where they broadcast live from the playground and what a morning we had! Afterwards, Ben kindly gave us some time to be interviewed and Luke asked him all about his life in radio and advice for our broadcasters who may want a career in broadcasting. Thank you, Ben!

Thistle Class have been enjoying the book The Night Pirates. In the story, Tom joins the rough, tough crew of Girl Pirates on an adventure. They sail to an island where they steal a treasure chest from a crew of lazy, scared Grown-up Pirates, led by Captain Patch. Using this story as inspiration and as a model, the children created their own pirate story. Here are the children from Reception telling you their stories.

The final breakfast show of this term and the team went out on a high. More great hosting from James, top scripts and superb presenting from our talented young broadcasters made for THE best way to start your week. No live caller today (boo!) but we're hoping for more after half term.

A bumper edition of Westwood Talk this week as we look back on SATs, TWO Oral History interviews, which were just fabulous and a look ahead to the Westwood Scarecrow trail, Sports Day and BBC Wiltshire live from our school later this week. A busy time but hugely exciting and lots to share and reflect on in the latest Westwood Talk.

This week on Westwood Radio we were delighted to be joined in the studio by Helen Hopkins from the Westwood Scarecrow - @wwoodscarecrow - Trail committee who gave a fabulous interview to Ellie and Alice and stayed for the whole show! We also talked SATs, class news, BBC Step into Summer and also put into practice some of the skills that our great friend of the show Russell Prue taught us earlier in the week.
