The Word on the Street team are back with another stunning piece of education radio. With their own scripts and two new hosts in Oscar and Josh, sit back and enjoy the confidence, resilience and off-script chat and humour as you listen to the development in these amazing children in just a week.

Today's breakfast show was a SATs shout out special, with messages of encouragement for our amazing Year 6 children in their breakfast club, preparing for their tests. With James spending time with his friends preparing, Mr Rockey took over hosting duties as a one off treat (for him!) this morning and everyone presented superbly with well written scripts, superb intonation and bags of energy. Today's show was full of more of the quality broadcasting you have come to expect from our talented young people. TWO unscripted live discussion features with the team, superb hosting, which was completely unphased by a technical hitch part way through and plenty of unscripted chat and banter, demonstrating the confidence that our wonderful children have behind the microphone.

In the studio today we were delighted to be joined by Lisa Barry, who spoke with Daniel about the wonderful Westwood Dawn Chorus walk they went on a couple of weeks ago. This was a chance to listen to a fine selection of birds at the break of day in their natural habitat and identify them with some help from an ornithological expert. You can head some of the sounds captured by Joe Gidley, a Sound Recordist who accompanied the group, at the end of the interview. The birds you will hear, in this order, are: Dawn chorus of songbirds, Tawny Owl, Duet of Blackbird and Song Thrush, Tawny Owl, Wood Pigeons, Wren, Blackcap, Wood pigeons and Wren, Song Thrush and Duet of Song Thrush and Wren. Today saw the beginning of a new show on Westwood Radio. Our boys writing group, who have only worked together twice before, put together and presented a stunning show using scripts that they had chosen and written themselves. A wonderful opportunity to develop confidence and resilience in writing and I am sure that this is the first of many live shows to come. Well done Reggie and Billy - excellent hosting!

On a sunny Bank Holiday Monday, I recorded the very latest update from our wonderful school in the last week. Class news, our stunning boys writing and broadcasting group and an update on our ever growing Oral History Project are all included, as well the latest from our involvement in the Step into Summer campaign.

Here's another stunning radio show from our talented young broadcasters who, each time they get behind the microphone, dazzle with confidence and broadcasting technique. With all the usual class news, sports, dream jobs and even some weird news (!), as well as a mention for the BBC Step into Summer campaign, this is a show that deserves a listen again. Our talented writers are back again this week with another podcast even better than their first. This is only the second time that most of these children have recorded a show in our studio and their confidence is growing at a staggering rate. With hosting today from Reggie and Billy, this was another example of the power of education radio in developing writing, speaking and presenting skills. So proud of these boys. Completely scripted, produced and run by the children, this is another fine example of the power of education radio enhancing quality reading, writing and speaking and listening skills. Today saw the start of a new project to raise confidence in boys reading and writing through the use of broadcasting. These boys had never worked together in a studio before; they wrote their own scripts, developed broadcasting technique and produced a show all in one afternoon. With Mr Rockey hosting to model for future shows, there was such excitement, energy and outstanding commitment from these young people. It made us very proud!

Our talented Breakfast Show team are back to start your week off in the best possible way. With Emily joining us this term we are very excited to be bringing you more education radio. With features on the Dance Off, learning to swim and Cubs, here's another show that deserves a listen again. Well done everyone!

Our final Breakfast Show of the term this morning and what a cracking show it was! I am so proud of everyone as these children range from Year 1 to Year 6 and they are all just SO professional.
